A few things I want to point out (even if this video is five years old at the time I write this. 1. Judy never mistook the bulbs the weasel stole as onions. Everyone else did. She correctly guessed they were flower bulbs, giving their scientific name when she did. 2. The Night Howlers weren't harmless. Judy's uncle accidentally ate one and went crazy. It was at that moment that Judy realized what was happening. The lab process was probably to make the effects strong enough to work immediately on skin/ fur contact. Aside from those two things, great video. (I had to watch this movie 5 times for an English project, so I'm fairly sure I remember it well enough)

Thunderlord's Decree but just imagine if you could make a crack ball that made you high indefinitely. The drug problem would be far worse with everyone wanting that.
@Nightraven268 жыл бұрын
+Thunderlord's Decree that's not how medicine/drug work, unless it's an extended release tablet taken orally, the liver and the kidneys would remove the drug from the body, especially since parenteral absorption from the skin isn't very good afaik. The drug would wear off after a few days.
@walker32888 жыл бұрын
Nightraven26 I think we can safely assume that the drug goes after the natural biology of animals through some unknown way that can't be compared to how drugs affect humans. That or they just ignored science in favor of making the plot more enjoyable.
@Toadstep1238 жыл бұрын
It seems that it could have been only a few days, we don't know how long the predators were missing, except for the otter. Mr. Otterton was missing for over a week, but we don't know if the drug was injected in the 1st day he was missing. He could have had the drug injected into him 3 days before they found him. The other predators could have gone missing after him. That's an assumption we can make, or not make. That's just what we decide.

honestly, I think that zootopia is hinting at things that it needs to. It makes references to actual crimes that can end up with someone hurt. Instead of "Who stole my peanut butter?" it's "The mafia's after me." The fact that Mr Bigg is a mafia boss, things can get intense. Selling different things, punishments for not returning money in time, all sorts of that. It really prepares them for he real world, and I like that.

4:17 Judy actually doesn't mistake the bulbs for onions. The police chief mistakes them for moldy onions. Judy corrects him, calling them what they scientifically are: midnicampum holicithias. It's a tough detail to notice the first time through, but you'll notice it if you're listening for it. Judy's father also calls the flowers midnicampum holicithias. Judy just... hasn't called them Night Howlers before. Or at least very often. As you point out, Gideon is the one to first call them Night Howlers throughout the movie, referring to the name as if it's a slang or non-scientific term for the flower.

Sorry I’m late to the party. Just discovered this channel. Great video but wanted to point out one thing. The 10% predator population does not relate directly to the African American population being around 12% when the video was created. They used 10% because that is the ratio of predator to prey in real life. Only 10% of energy is transferred between trophic levels. So if you have 40 sheep you will only have 4 wolves feasting on them. The sheep cannot produce more energy to feed more wolves. That’s why predator populations will always be 10% of the trophic level below them. I am overly simplifying the system but just trying to show that the use of 10% is for that reason specifically.

If you think the actual zootopia movie is dark? You should check at the original concept when the protagonist was nick and not judy UwU That one was dark :v
The bit about the film that irks me is that Nick Wild (the fox) gets into trouble with the "Big Boss" by selling him a fur rug made out of a skunks butt... they clearly seem to emphasize on the fact its from a smelly skunk bum, not the that it's made from another animal. So unless in Zootopia skunks are considered "sub-animal" and do not have the same rights as other animals and can be killed at will (i shudder to hope that's not the case or the film truelly is horrendously dark) The Fox essentially sold Mr Big a human skin rug.

Or it could have just been 'made from the fur from a sunk's butt,' like Nick said? Fur coats for us are skinned from animals because it was easier and cheeper. In Zootopia they wouldn't kill people to wear their skins, so they probably just use the hair trimmings, like how some wigs and extensions are made.

+Ricky Torres I believe Nick was the main character and predators had collars and were shocked if they got too mad. Their was a sad scene where a polar bear had to give his 5 year old cub his first collar he was really excited to wear it, but his dad was sad that he had to put it on. EDIT: kurisu7885 corrected a error I made. It was that when the predator's shock collars would go off when they have heightened emotions, not just when they got mad.
@Asiagirl6448 жыл бұрын
Thats what Yoshi said. Nick was the main focus in this movie but the plot were thrown away, because it got too dark and depressing for the creaters. They wanted to show Zootopia from a good side and then show the dark side. This was only possible through Judy who looked at Zootopia positively right from the beginning. Nick hated Zootopia since he was 8 or 9.

+Nick Wilde I don't quite get The Offensive Part of your comment.. They removed The collar Story, because it was too Dark. The racism theme got still Inside The final Movie with The Night Howlers. The Moral is still The Same "don't judge from Race/Looking and get to know someone/some Animal before judging."
@shawnlyons94746 жыл бұрын
Old video, but I'm watching it now - 1) Judy tries to tell Bogo that they're not onions, she knows exactly what they are, but not their aggression causing effects or the name Night Howlers 2) They aren't just growing on her family's farm, her father says he grows them to keep the bugs away. 3) Unlike cocoa, apparently eating one of these plants will make you, "go savage" so the complicated treatment of the plants is likely just to make it instant or work as a dart. (Also the sheep says, "Jessie and Walter are here" so it's more than just the looks of the scene) 4) Mayor Lionheart didn't go back into power, it shows him still wearing the orange jumper of somebody in prison. Doubt this will be seen by MatPat, but love your videos.
