One of Matt’s last theories was how there’s no good role models in media anymore or that they’re being erased/mocked. It was good seeing miles confide in a father figure who’s actually his father. It’s hard enough finding good father figures let alone good fathers and this short just lets a dad be a dad. So good

What about Shazam's dad, C.C Batson? Sure, he's dead, but he was a great guy, nice, considerate, perhaps a bit naive but still willing to fight for his family and sacrifice himself, and gave Billy a huge Mansion post-mortem.

I deal with anxiety, and I've dealt with panic attacks on a semi-regular basis. Therapy has helped so much with giving me the tools to manage my anxiety. This short really connected with me because of this, and this episode did a great job exploring that territory. I hope, if anyone watches this video and it resonates with them, that it helps them realize they're not alone, and that they can overcome anxiety. It's a lot of work, and I personally still have road ahead of me, but it's a lot more manageable already. Thanks for shining a spotlight on this issue.

Fun fact: In the comics, Peter Parker's Spider-Man talks to a therapist, and his problems are so great, they sent his therapist to therapy! That's why there's a Spider-Therapist, cuz only a Spider-Person can understand and handle all that

This reminds me of that one episode from the Teen titans(the original, not TTGO) animated series where Robin was fighting Slade but he is literally the only one who sees Slade. None of his friends could see Slade. When Robin finally calm down with the help of his friends. "Slade" finally vanishes. There was no Slade to begin with. It was all in his mind. Hallucinations due to mental stress and PTSD. The episode ended with Robin turning off the lights to double check if Slade is still there. There was no Slade at all. That was a very dark episode for me when I was a kid. Back then, I didnt even know what mental health is and how realistic that experience is irl.
@MRDraco17

yeah I remember this episode, it was very stressfull seeing this from Robin perspective, not really knowing what was true or not. it was also interesting to see that while being superheroes they could also be very vulnerable and have trauma from all the dangerous situations they faced.

I haven't seen all of the original Teen Titans but I did see most of the episodes with Slade and that episode as well on TV one time. And yeah, that episode had quite an impact. I remember Raven, I believe, looking through Robin's eyes to reassure him there was no Slade and then she could see him and they realized that Slade was real to Robin and he needed their help.
@GaurdianPrime
@GaurdianPrime 7 ай бұрын
Umm... are you forgetting the part at the end where they found traces of a unidentified powder/drug on the inside of the Slade mask Robin had been examining at the start of the episode? Yes, there are some parallels, but Robin was DRUGGED. He was trained by Batman to have a hyper observant, detective based mindset. The hallucinogens pushed his overanalytical mind into paranoia, which made the hallucinations more real and created a self reinforcing feedback loop. Not only that, hallucination or not, Slade was 'real' enough that his attacks were able to knock Raven out of her psychic connection to Robin. Real enough that Raven even wavered on if Slade might really be in the Tower. It was only because Robin was willing to trust his teammates over his own observations that he listened to Raven and closed his eyes.

Something I would like to add, Miles in the comics had similar problems with anxiety to the point that his Spidersense would randomly go off without there being any threat or just not work at all, when it mattered. He did get help and actual therapy later on to help him deal with it. I can only recommend Ziglar's current run with Miles. It's really amazing and great for his character.

That's what an anxiety disorder is. The Brain chemistry triggering your fight or flight just "cuz something is happenning or going to happen so be ready now. Don't do something else, we won't be ready. Watch out!". The Mental triggers the physical, instead of the other way around. Here Mile's spidey sense is triggered by his own anxiety/panic attack and the spidey sense is just catching up and trigger approprietly but it can't because the Sensing Part of the mechanism was never actually trigger. skipping the important step for a healthy reaction.... Watching this episode had noticing I had been masking an anxiety episode for the past hour or so.... heh ^^"

The ones that start out talking about the media we all love and then, go into real world things and really help remind me and ground me in the world. That short made me cry when I first saw it. I think the reason Insomniac Miles (IM) gets a pass while Sony Miles (SM) doesn't is because the spider that bit IM was from his universe, unlike the one that bit SM. In SM's universe, the blonde Peter was supposed to be the only Spider-Man in that world, while in the Insomniac-verse, there was meant to be both a Peter Parker and Miles Morales Spider-Man in that world. More than one Spider-Man can exist in a single universe (otherwise characters like Silk don't align with the canon), it's just that that wasn't meant to be the case in SM's universe.

I think that there is a lot of hope for Miles, especially because at the end of ATSV we saw that he is finally willing to confide in his parents that he is Spider-man. Even if it's still a secret to everyone else in his life and even though the constant danger he's in will always be large sources of stress, being able to finally be honest with them would definately ease some his anxiety because he no longer has to lie to them all the time.

I'll be honest, I think this is by far the best episode that Film Theory has had in a long, LONG time. No stretches of the imagination or having to look into small tidbits to make the theory stick, no conveniently ignoring basic facts about the series, no haphazard guessing of what maybe-sorta-kinda-could be, and not a case of "this is so obvious to even casual fans so why are you covering it?" kind of thing. A great straightforward but thoughtful analysis of something film related to produce a theory, make connections to that theory, and tie it up into a great message and learning opportunity. Fantastic video.

I attended once a workshop about how to control panic attacks, and the instructor mentioned about the misconception that "it feels like a hearth attack". The truth is that a panic attacks feels how we THINK a heart attack feels, but in reality a hearth attack is very different, the heart is not beating very rapidly in a hearth attack, it's exactly the opposite. Btw, the a rapid heart rate for a very small time is not damaging to the body, that's exactly what cardiovascular excersize does :), the issue is a rapid heart rate during all the day. EDIT: just in case a clarification is needed: anxiety is not a good for health, even when panic attacks are sporadic, chronic stress is pretty bad for other reasons than the hearth beating rapidely for small periods (things like sleep deprivation and high levels of cortisol causes multiple health issues).

Yes, the reason Spider-verse Miles is an anomaly is because he was bit by a Spider from a different dimension. We know that you don't have to be Peter to be Spider-Man so that wouldn't effect every single Miles, and there are a handful of Mile Morales in Canon dimensions in the overall Marvel lore.

As someone with diagnosed GAD, and whose favorite movies are the Spider-Verse films, watching this short made me cry. I've only had full panic attacks a few times in my life, but that's exactly how it felt. And though I've never had sleep paralysis hallucinations, those sorts of "shadowy, evil, broken versions of myself" are frequent images in my mind. For awhile after I got diagnosed, I sometimes called my anxiety Freddy, after Freddy Krueger, since it feels like a different person who's only inside my mind and trying to hurt me. Most of the time, my anxiety doesn't lead to full panic attacks. Instead, I just shut down, zone out, and am unable to do anything, sometimes barely aware of my surroundings. I guess that's technically a form of dissociative panic attack, but it feels quite different. Regardless, I'm rambling now 😅 The point is I cried watching the short, and I cried watching this analysis of it 😅

I had a huge panic attack a year ago followed by much smaller ones, but the first was out of nowhere and it was the most scary thing I've ever lived thru; I was literally talking and playing with a board game with my friends when I suddenly had all the symptoms that they mentioned on the episode, specially the whole body tingle. I did as best as I could to stay calm and relax but it was impossible, my mind was struggling to focus on anything but "staying alive", I felt my breathing starting to shorten until I gave in and went to the hospital a few minutes later without anyone knowing. The doctors after calming me and relaxing me with both medicine and chat, just ruled out I had a panic attack with no real evident cause so I had to go to a psychiatrist to check me and actually rule out something, I ended going and not really sorting what really caused it, it seemed to be a mix of a bad sleep schedule and lack of exercise (After coming back from a month-long trip that made me walk about 20k steps a day, it seemed my mind made me think I had stored excess energy that I wasn't burning it made me feel like I needed to release it, apparently) made both me and my body crash down hard when the stress built up, luckily I tackled it as early as I could and nothing bad came out and it took me some months to fully recover from it. In the end this episode was almost word-by-word what happened to me, to the point it was a bit funny to see my experience being described in this episode and made me want to write this comment, just to share all of this, hopefully this also helps someone or gives a better perspective on what the episode was about!

Hey man just wanted to say you really spoke to me because I've been struggling with alot of spiritual anxiety and not knowing how to handle the sudden fear attacks or the sudden unease and I'm working through it but just hearing you talk about it how to treat it letting us know we aren't alone in this (obviously we have Christ through everything but still) it really helped me calm down so thanks man I appreciate it

Thank you for making this video. I have an anxiety disorder (OCD) and experience fairly regular panic attacks, so I'm glad to see Sony and Theorist raising awareness. It could help a lot of people. I've been in therapy for years and it has helped tremendously. I've also found that just learning to recognize a panic attack for what it is in the moment really makes them a lot more bearable. Then, I'm still tense, but I'm not catastrophizing and causing it to become any more severe or last longer than it needs to.

From what I remember Miles has the most sensitive spider sense ever so I believe that it amplifies his awareness to a point of anxiety where when the spider sense feels something unknown due to anxiety it miss fires as a threat. Which makes his anxiety worse in a vicious cycle

Nice vid anyways Here's a recipe for a decadent chocolate layer cake: Ingredients: For the cake: - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar - 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder - 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda - 1 teaspoon salt - 2 large eggs, at room temperature - 1 cup whole milk - 1/2 cup vegetable oil - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract - 1 cup boiling water For the frosting: - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened - 3 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar - 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder - 1/2 cup heavy cream - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract - Pinch of salt Instructions: For the cake: 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper. 2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, and beat on medium speed until well combined. 4. Reduce the speed to low and carefully add the boiling water to the cake batter. Beat on high speed for about 1 minute to incorporate the hot water into the batter. 5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. 6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. 7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. For the frosting: 1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy. 2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the heavy cream, until the frosting is smooth and creamy. 3. Beat in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until well combined. Assembly: 1. Once the cakes have cooled completely, level the tops if necessary to create flat surfaces. 2. Place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a layer of frosting evenly over the top. 3. Repeat with the remaining cake layers and frosting, stacking them on top of each other. 4. Use the remaining frosting to cover the top and sides of the cake, spreading it evenly with a spatula. 5. Decorate the cake as desired with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh berries.

I feel like the best plot twist would be Miles and the spider girl that send him into the wrong dimension (don't remember her name) confront Miguel about it, saying that "Miles was never an anomaly; he exist into another one wich mean that this two dimension switched their futur, making it completely normal". It will then explain that the spot was created to be his enemy, like every Spider Man has his own. I love this theory/scenario so much!

Theory idea. Four way hunger games crossover. Game theory is which smash bros character lives/wins hunger games. Film theory could be anything, maybe something about could the capitol survive without districts(like in mockingjay), or maybe something about thirteen. Food theory could be are the capitols mutts edible. Style theory would be which capitol persons outfits are the most practical, or how much does it cost to look like a capitol person.

[Update: Ignore the spambots that are replying to this post, they can't do anything but be useless humans, replying to them lets them continue harassing] If this is the direction they are going then the anomaly part is the fact Miles does have someone to talk with, his parents, for the rest of them, they lost the one person closest to them that they could talk with the one they trusted most died due to their fear. Miles still has the ones he trusts, as great as it would be to have the other spiders to talk with they can only really give their solution which would differ based on what their home dimension is like, like even the Therapist Spiderman was just done with hearing the same story day after day and giving the same answer, even the other Miles Spiders they discovered their own way of coping thats not gonna be the same for Miles.

You know, I had sleep paralysis a few times and yes. It is absolutely uncool. Especially once I knew what to expect. Like the first time I was just panicked but then I figured out that I just needed to move a little bit (like a finger or my lips or blink a bunch) to activate more of my body. Ya, no that did not go over well. As soon as my body stared to move (slowly and painstakingly) I lost energy and the moment my eyes inevitably closed again I started in bed again. Again unable to move, even more panicked and exhausted to the core. The best/worst part was that people who were I the room (imaginative or real) morphed to shadows the moment I began move. The more I took control the more they turned to shadows. I swear, I could not look at my dog the same way for a week. It morphed into a 2meter tall skinny shadow that tried to bite me.
