Wrapped up the build today on the $500 Honda CT70. Got the 110cc engine installed and all the other goodies. Really happy with how this one turned out.

I just subscribed. Very relaxing to watch. Growing up, one neighbor had this CT70 in blue w/hand clutch. Other neighbors had two 50 Mini-Trails. Nothing for me. Several years later, I had accumulated and saved my earnings. I went to Kiss Honda in Pottstown, PA. and bought a used CB750. What an insane ballistic ride home that was. Spent years with that 130mph rocket-ship and lived to tell this story. This stuff just does not go away; its in your blood. Great video, thank you, very much!

Wow mike, I like it too. Great build, it does really look fantastic. I laughed when you blew the 6 volt headlamp bulb but don’t fell bad I done the same thing. I built a 1970 ct70 candy gold and I put a 140cc lifan in it started it up blew that bulb right now, so I know what you mean there. Yes it runs great and looks great. Another great build from you and of course another great video. You do first class work, lot of knowledge there. Great job. I am looking forward to the next. Thanks, have a great day.

this one looks great Mike i know. that the Color is not a exact match but it’s close enough and the new Stickers ind of help make it look Correct like a true Survivor it wasn’t too long ago you could still find Survivors for reasonable Prices i actually had a next door Neighbor that was finding them Online and Hoarding them for his children looking back i wish i would had done the same several of the ones he did get were runners and just needed a good Cleaning but those days are over almost entirely

another fantastic build. have you ever thought about doing restorations for people? customer suplies the bike , he picks out the engine and colour and you build it for them. alot of people that don't have the space or means would pay a pretty decent amount to have a pro like you doing the build. love the videos
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Building these bikes is a hobby and and a tremendous amount of fun. Building bikes for customers makes it feel more like a job……and I don’t want a job. So, no, I have no interest in building for others. There are plenty of other builders out there that are looking for work, I’ll let them have it. I hope that didn’t come off as too harsh, but I really want to keep this fun and stress free as possible.

@@MiniBikeMike Mike, A buddy of mine owns a large landscaping place today I noticed about 100 Aarons snowblower’s with engines ready for the junkyard. Many of the engines work just fine fixing the snow blowers would be too labor-intensive than people just buy new ones. Do you think there’s any value in all these snowblower engines?

Great build Mike. I always enjoy the electrical information. I need all the help i can get. Where do you get the metric bolts from, Amizon. Or do you have them from your machine shop. Who ever ends up with this bike , will be very happy. Thanks
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! Yes, like other parts, I pick up the stainless metric hardware from Amazon. If I’m using steel hardware, I have a tractor supply store down the street from my shop for those.

Might be one of my favorite builds of yours. From the color to the engine choice. How hard is it to get a title in Indiana?
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Titles aren’t impossible here. There is a packet of info you fill out and send in. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to get the title.
@notagain86612 жыл бұрын
Great bike build! Question. You pick up a lot of bikes, how do you handle ones without a title. Just sell them with a Bill of sale? In Minnesota its almost impossible to get a bike retitled with out something from the last registered owner, which with these bike could have been 5 owners ago! Lol
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Most of them are passed along without a title. If the buyer is planning to register it for the street and their state is a pain, they use the “Vermont method”. If you’re not familiar with that, google it. They basically get a plate and registration from Vermont.

Mike, how did you just replace the bulb in the head light? My 71 CT70 seems to have a sealed light. Did you pry the ring off? If so may be you can do a video on how all that's done?
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
The new units being sold now all come with a replaceable bulb. Some of the original had replaceable, some had sealed.
@notagain86612 жыл бұрын
@@MiniBikeMike have you ever tried to pry open an old one to see if you could replace the bulb?
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
@@notagain8661 I haven’t, but I would think it could be done. You’d just need a holder for the bulb and a way to hold it in place.

What carb did you use on this and did you have to convert this from a 6v to a 12v system? Sorry if it was in there and I didn’t see it! Awesome work, I have a good one just like this that I am currently building and looking for the best option with the least amount of conversion to do by adding a new engine.
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Entire bike was switched to 12v. I use the Trail Buddy 12v harness….their part number TB515. Swap bulbs to 12v. It’s all very easy. Carb was a cheap 20mm Amazon buy.
@Fritzizz1e2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Last question, with all your knowledge on these, I’d like to use a top plate that will accept a BMX style bar. I’ve heard that the later CT70’s have a different top plate for the triple tree. To your knowledge, does that triple tree top plate work on this earlier style triple tree? Or do you have any that are drilled for BMX your are selling or willing to see by chance!? Love your channel!
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
@@Fritzizz1e Don’t take my word on this, you might do some research. But…..my memory says that the top clamp on K1 and newer CT70’s (that have the holes for a separate bar holder) is not the same width at the fork holes of a K0. I’m thinking that the 1979 style z50, that had motorcross style bars, does use the same top clamp spacing as a CT70K0.

Seems to pull really nice and sounds good too. Any idea what those chinese 110cc's put out to the real wheel? 7-8 hp? Top speed around 45-50 mph?
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I’m not sure on the HP rating. I’ll be doing some higher speed runs this weekend, I’ll post up what it hits, but I would think 50mph is attainable.
