Ever since the Honda Rebel 1100 was released, one of the biggest complaints about it has been the pesky 100mph top speed limiter. NOT ANYMORE!
I set out to find a way to remove the top speed governor on the Rebel 1100, went down a rabbit-hole on the internet, and somewhere along the way discovered the HealTech SpeedoHealer TSD. HealTech had the normal SpeedoHealer listed as compatible with the new Rebel 1100, but not the TSD version, which is what they make to derestrict the top speed of bikes. When I reached out to them, they said that they knew the SpeedoHealer worked, but they hadn't been able to test out the Top Speed Derestriction version yet. Sooo as always, I decided to be the guinea pig.
And man am I glad that I decided to do that! Cause it WORKED! As far as I know, I'm the first person to figure out how to delete the top speed restrictor on the Honda Rebel 1100! And the best part? It's plug-n-play AND only $110!!
So what're you waiting for? Install a SpeedoHealer SH-V4-TSD on your Rebel 1100 and stop letting Honda tell you how fast you can ride! hahah
When buying your kit, REMEMBER!!-
-MANUAL Rebel 1100's will need a SpeedoHealer SH-V4-TSD with an SH-H05 harness.
DCT Rebel 1100's, according to HealTech, will need a SpeedoHealer SH-V4 TSD with an SH-H05 harness, BUT I believe they may actually need the SH-U01 universal harness that DCT Africa Twins use.

UPDATE- This seems to work better if you set the speed threshold to 95. I think 98 was too close to the stock cutoff, and that’s why it seemed to not work that one time. Since lowering the threshold to 95 everything has been smooth sailing 👌🏻🤘🏻

I live in the UK, my Rebel 1100 manual is governed to 110mph, it will not rev above 6000rpm in top gear. I have run it on a private road flat out without a screen and a with a Puig generic screen fitted. I have never encountered any issues with the front end or handling wise in general at the top end, or any or any speed getting there. Thinking of getting the ecu flashed sometime this year, just to let the engine breath better ;-)

have you considered pairing it with a Dyna Jet Power commander? The Rebel 1100's run lean from the factory. they have preset tunes for factory intake and exhaust, aswell as factory intake and Slip on exhausts like your TBR. It plays a similar game of confusing the ECU to dispense more fuel.

I've heard some talk about a speed wobble, and a salesman I talked to today at an Indian dealership said that it's usually something that can happen to a few sport bikes that are light and powerful. I'm thinking of the early triple Kaw's. Later, they added some welded gusset to where the steering head meets the frame, and they also took some of the performance away in the later years of the triples. So, is it because the frames were too wimpy for the power or weight of the motor? I don't know. This raises a few questions. Is the frame of the 1100 exactly the same as the frame for the other Rebels? What are the differences? Anybody care to do some welding on the frame and report back their findings? lol.

99.9% certain it is the tires causing the issue. My 2023 BMW S1000R had Battleax S22's as the factory tire, but they are a sub-standard version since they are cheaper. Anyway, I would get the same wobble between 95-105mph, same as you. Changed to Road 6 and not a single issue since. I couldve gone aftermarket S22's and it wouldve been better as well. Dealer tires are a cheap sub-quality of the actual aftermarket version. Similar to Marlboro and Winston. One is a "quality" cigarette and the other a version where they swept tobacco off the floor

You may want to try lowering the "U" speed to 96 or 97, I'm wondering if the ecu limiter is actually 99 and the speedo healer didn't catch it in time. That could be why once or twice it seemed to max out at 98? May not help anything but could be worth a try. It shouldn't be a fueling issue, your fueling should be dictated by RPM regardless of gear, not the speedo. The only time you see any sort of gear specific tuning that I'm aware of is in high hp applications on something like a turbo fwd honda (they can't keep traction with full boost in first gear, or even second sometimes, so they limit boost by gear).
@LifeOfBurch
@LifeOfBurch 2 жыл бұрын
Yea that’s my thought as well! This week I’m planning to switch U to 95 and see what the outcome is. I tried going back and watching the footage to see if the speedo ever blipped from 98 to 99, but I didn’t see it happen. Of course that doesn’t mean that the bike didn’t somehow read 99 and cut power still. Anyway, doing the test at 95 should give some much clearer answers! 🤞🏻

Maybe the ECU has an additional fail-safe for the speed limiter. The RPM linearly corellates to to the speed in a given gear. So if the RPM climbs but the speed doesn't the ECU would know that something is wrong. Maybe thats why some pulls didn’t work as expected. Just a guess. Nethertheless, very amazing that you were achieve 110 mph on the Rebel 1100.
@BrandonWest87
@BrandonWest87 2 жыл бұрын
Most modern transmissions have a TSS that provides a gearbox speed feed into the ECU, which is likely the signal that the speedohealer interrupts and sends the dummy 98mph in his video. The parameters that likely affected those 2 “off” pulls are the ECU attempting to speed govern based on TSS input reading just a hair faster and him getting governed. My guess is setting the speedohealer U threshold to 95 would solve it entirely. Good point Marcel 👍

I do recall someone on here mentioning wobble at higher speeds, I do not recall which bike. it was discussed as problem others were having wih the same bike. It was not of particular importance to me doing 100 plus is not an objective of mine, but being prevented form doing things on or with things I own does get my back up. The addition of a windscreen was tried, ensuring symmetry on the handlebars was tried to no avail The wobble fix for that bike turned ot to be changing the tyres and other commented on that working for them too. Like I say I did not take notes... any issues at those speeds are not ones I am really concerned about but I thought others might want to see if a tyre change might be the solution tothe wobble. NOT the inmy opinion illegal top speed manufacture In the future as more bikes get throttle by wire and dct both top speedds and acceleration rates will be governed and the limits dictated by insurance companies who as lackeys for the government dictators will be only to happy to comply

I have gone 105 mph on my 2020 Rebel 500. And by 105 what I’m saying is it will sit there wide open in 6th going between 98-105 mph depending on incline and wind no problem for as long as you like. And I’ve never had any problems with wobble. Now, check your tire pressure it makes a huge difference! Im pretty the CMX500 does not have a speed limiter but it does have a rev limiter at 10,900. If I wanted too I bet I could get it going faster than 105mph by pining it in 5th or 4th to the rev limiter but you know… I do like the thing

Manipulating the speedometer to show less than actual, actually has the side affect of doings the same to the odometer. That can be legally more problomatic than speedings. I only bring that up because I find if funnly so much CYA efford was put on the speedings issue but not the other.

Lol at the beginning. _Definitely_ not me haha (only because I haven't spent 11k on a Rebel 1100 though :p). BUT! In my defense, the Rebel 500 with a sprocket change can hit above 100mph easily.

Only because you haven’t spent that money on a Rebel 1100 *yet* is what you mean! 😂 And yea a Rebel 500 could do over 100mph, but no videos online truly show how much more powerful the 1100 is up to that point. Nina and I were cruising 2-up at 85mph on the 1100 yesterday and still could accelerate around vehicles better than my 500 could at that speed with just me on it. It’s really another beast entirely!

@@LifeOfBurch Oh yeah! I have a Honda Shadow 1100 (1997, Yellow) and I like it. I love the torque when you want it and how much it delivers. I imagine it's the same on the Rebel 1100 bike. Edit: I mean to say yeah, with the torque provided it is GREAT to have 1100ccs for two up, or even just blasting up to 90mph without revving high, gotta think about the fuel economy ;) cheaper to go 90mph on an 1100 at say 5,500 rpm (just for example) than a 500 at 7,500 rpm (again, just example)
@axvlife
@axvlife 11 ай бұрын
Does the speedometer threshold also change the odometer reading? Meaning, will this alter the actual odometer mileage displayed to a lower number that the bike ahs actually been ridded? For example say if someone set the threshold to 25mph, then just rides the bike as normal at speeds all over, the bike is only recording odometer mileage as if it were travelling at 25mph and not a highway speed of 80. So after an hour of riding on the highway, only 25 miles have been added to the odometer instead of the actual 80. Lets keep in mind: 49 U.S. Code § 32703 - Preventing Tampering: It's a federal crime to disconnect, reset, or alter a motor vehicle odometer to change the mileage

So bike shows 97 and GPS app shows 92 at the 11:52 mark. 5% speedometer error. So when bike is showing 98 it is actually going about 93. 110 minus 93 is 17 MPH higher top speed than stock. I'm actually surprised speedo error is that low I'd expect more like 10% at the high end.

100 mph on a sportsbike feels like 45 mph on a lot of other bikes, just for perspective. I'm thinking the Reb1100 has some kind of geometry or suspension weaknesses if the front shakes at speed. If this bike runs by throttle-by-wire, that's why it's speed limited. The ECU pulls throttle back, no matter what you do with the grip.

Hello ,I live in uk, i dont know if the Honda Rebel 1100 dct we get here is different but, on a closed circuit road, i had my very standard bike up to 110 and still going ,no shakes or wobbles, however when i used to have a Triumph Bonneville 1200 with a small screen on the front it would wobble at high speed, i took the small screen off and it had no speed wobble, IT is the same if you have a phone mount on your bike, it can induce a speed wobble, I did have the honda dealer check the steering head torque settings and it was fine. great Bike the Rebel 1100 DCT one of my all time faves, ,very easy to ride,comfortable with ,reasonable handling after fettling the suspension.(essential).

I don't really understand this hunt for top speed, if you want a sportsbike, get a sportsbike. :P Got to keep in mind that even though it has the Africa Twin engine, it is tuned and geared very differently, so unless you start messing with the gearbox etc you will never get the same out of the engine as you do on the Africa Twin. I've never even been close to the limit on my Rebel. Where I live, if you get caught at 100 mph you won't just get a fine, you actually lose your license for 2 years, and go to jail. Have to take classes and do a new test etc to get license back after the 2 year ban. Really not worth it. So I am quite happy riding my Rebel like a cruiser, mind you a cruiser that have plenty of power for some spirited riding, within limits. ;)

The probable reason for the feeling of lack of fuel going up that far is the ECU has a fuel map for how much fuel needs to be injected at a given engine RPM and a given air intake to get stoichiometric ratio correct to combust is close enough at that speed that it took it fine but the reason for the wierdness is probably the ECU doest have a tune for over a hundred miles an hour cause its not programmed to go that fast after a certain point your bike is using the same amount of gas per second to go from 98 to 110 which means it might not have enough fuel to spin the engine faster that all being said thats just a guess i could be totally wrong
