I have had the 2023 honda rebel 1100 manual for 2 months, brand new. No wobble until i hit 1000 miles and went over 93 mph. Took it to the dealership, they replaced the front dunlop tire. They said it had a hump in it. Ok.The warranty provided a new dunlop front tire. Took it for a test drive, when i hit 90 mph, the wobble was worse. I found your video. Took a risk on the Metzler cruistecs,they just installed it today. Took it up to 100 mph 5 times. NO WOBBLE. I said all that to say...thankyou bro. Metzler needs to cut you a check. Blessings to you and your family.

Tires are always a good place to start. I thought mine was immune till 2 weeks ago I joined some naked bike, group riders and did some sustained pulls past 178kp/h and that issue occurred to me for the first time. those oscillations are a bit off putting. In this nanny state those speeds get you in jail and automatic loss of license, so is a rare effort. I will keep the factory tires till they are due to be replaced. However this is almost a recall problem. If you look at the center line grove on the front tire it is molded with small offset blocks in the line of the groove, almost designed to wobble at certain harmonics (speed).

@45K miles on the Rebel 1100 DCT I've now been thru 2 sets of Dunlop/Sumitomo OEMs and now on second set of Pirelli Night Dragons. She absolutely loves her Italian shoes. Even got her a new gold chain Friday in addition to a third set of front/rear wheel bearings which I replace every 15K. Had rear ones blow out southbound on I-95 at 70 MPH and suffice to say it required a whole new back end for the bike - covered by Honda so . . . Great bike and not sure what I'm getting next. Can't see selling her or trading her in - just needs a sibling I think. I don't have much speed wobble issue except for perhaps it settling too hard on the back when accelerating at speed on interstate. stiffened suspension couple of times and I think she rides much better.

@@LifeOfBurch I think all motorcycles need wheel bearings replaced every now and again? It's one of those things they could last a long or not so long time so I change em out every 15K front/rear both and avoid issue altogether. They're relatively cheap parts and can easily be put on when getting tires. IDK specifically what caused it but it could have been an f'd up evening had it been worse or on the front. Honda ended up replacing back wheel, ABS, rear brakes, etc. Definite show stopper and screwed up my weekend plans but thankful it wasn't a real problem so much as a nuisance.

Makes sense. I was thinking it was going to be suspension. But I mean... tires are still somewhat part of the whole suspension system. So I guess if the stock ones were a bit softer it makes sense. I'm guessing at speed when the tire gets bumped and then unloaded any instability (like bumps on the road, or those snacking cracks) would be maximised and leading to the wobble, just like in regular soft front suspension issues. Legit of you to acknowledge that it wasn't fully gone. I had seen some forums quoting you about the wobble, and am glad you went a bit more into details here.

Can I share a story with you? One day I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. It was as real as anything and I felt so comfortable with Him. I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, trembling, and crying tears of joy. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car. Since then, I've been getting prayers answered wayyyy more often, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions for praying, as best I can.

Hey Burch, listen dude, no judgement here, it's just my opinion being a much older guy and going all the way back to my first motorcycle rides in 1978, it was actually a Moped but I was only 11 and boy I was totally addicted and all through these years I've had quite a few bikes but almost always Naked Roadsters/Street Bikes or Cruisers and I cannot fathom the idea of putting a cell anywhere on my bike ... In fact I miss the days when Cruisers didn't even have the time or a gas gauge, I don't wear a watch (Wild Hogs) ... it's true but I admit that if you get in a jam it's really handy to have a cell in your pocket. I just bought the Rebel 1100 and am picking it up from the dealer in 3 days but I've seen so many vids of all kinds of complaints on the 1100 as opposed to the Rebel 500 which I had for a very short time but it didn't disappoint me it was just too slow in acceleration. OMG...as I mentioned, I purchased mine less than a month ago. Well, I took it on a lil distance ride about an hour or so and on this 2-lane highway, I've had to pass a few trucks and cars in the oncoming lane. In sport mode when I get on it that thing started doing the Humpty Dance on me which forced me to immediately get OFF the throttle causing significant danger ☠️💀 to life, with oncoming traffic approaching and me not passing fast enough since I'm forced to slow down. At first I thought it was something I did, so I moved my phone mount as well. Told the dealership about it and they told me to add stabilizers to the bike, (which I didn't). Tried passing on these two-lane highway roads other times and boom, same Humpty Dance wobble. This scared me so bad that one time I audibly said in my helmet "ooh LaWD, please not like this..., I'll remove my OMWTFYB license frame!! 😳😫🤥!! I'm so happy to know that this manufacture defect is the problem. Honestly, due to the safety risks this poses to riders and other motorists, Honda, Dunlop or someone should make this a manufacture recall and THEY should fund these tires that resolve the issue. You have no idea how thankful I am, that I'm learning it's not just me having this issue that really gave me HUGE concerns about riding and keeping this new bike. I also thought it was because of the stock hard saddle bags or the batwing fairing with the low windshield, but again, it's the tires!!?? WOW-Shamwow-, Great Scott! So with your platform and following, I believe you have the juice to bring this safety issue to Honda because obviously this is not an isolated problem. 🤷🏼👍🏼. Thank you 🙏🏼🤝

I have been preaching for years that the stock Dunlop D404 found on a lot of bikes as stock absolutely suck. They are the most numb feeling tire I've ever rode on in terms of feedback. They aren't good in the rain. And they feel squirrelly if you try to chuck it in the corners. Should call them dunFLOPs. Most of the good reviews are from people that have never put a different tire on and never tried actual good performing tires. Michelin, pirelli, metzler are all upgrades. I recommend Michelin commander 2 for cruisers. And the road 6 for sport bikes. They feel glued to the road, even in the rain

Could it be Honda tested this bike at high speed and they found out the tires were the problem? They probably had a tire contract with the OEM and it would have cost a fortune to replace all the tires they committed to. Much cheaper to put in a Rev Limiter and call it a day and a buck saved. Plus the benefit of saying we don't want our buyers to go faster than 99MPH which should let them get around a 18 wheeler safely. Safety for our customers is our MAIN CONCERN. YEAH RIGHT

@lstavenhagen2 жыл бұрын
No, it's not the tires either. It's because the rebel is a tubular frame cruiser style bike. End of story. Tubular frames simply have a lot of flex, and that's the underlying cause of the wobblieness at higher speeds. _All_ tubular frame bikes have this "characteristic" - just give any of them a quick jab on one of the handlebars at speed, and you'll see the PIO (Pilot Induced Oscillation). That's why sport bikes have the much stiffer monocoque frames - to reduce (but not entirely eliminate) this flexing at high speeds. There's nothing wrong with the bike, since bikes have been made with tubes since the beginning of time. But they are not designed to go that fast. So the only "right" way to "fix" this shimmy is to simply not go so fast on it that it becomes unstable. There's really no other safe option. You can find the speed where this oscillation enters "negative stability" (stays the same or increases in magnitude) experimentally by testing the amount of it at various speeds. When you find the speed where it just begins to lose "positive stability" (shimmy shows no tendency to remain at the same amplitude or increase), that's your new "Vne" (Velocity Never Exceed) for your bike for the remainder of your two lives. Keep it at or below that speed for your own safety. Sorry to be a bubble-burster on this. Just don't go 100+ on the bike is really the only safe answer....

Dobrý den, prosím od jakého výrobce máte opěrku záda na zadní straně sedačky?! Předem děkuji 😊

That's what I had, the sandwich with fries. You should try the brisket tacos at the Old South Smoke House near Port Deposit, MD.

Pork or brisket, 2 for one price, you price. Bit of hike for you I suppose but a day out!

Meant to say you pick! I usually get one of each

It's possible the stock tires were trying to climb a bit, but I'd still think it's the aerodynamics of the bike that's the main factor 🤔
@yulynodinovich5676 Жыл бұрын
Is there a way to remove the top speed and reverse limiter yet? Or fix the speed wobbles?
@keetonbarron79932 жыл бұрын
The stock tires may not be rated for that speed. Either way at least you didn't eat pavement before you figured it out.
@LifeOfBurch2 жыл бұрын
The stock tires don’t have a super high speed rating, but the wobble started well before approaching the speed rating. The speed rating is higher than the 100mph limit put on the bike from the factory.
@keetonbarron79932 жыл бұрын
Wow ok. Well they may just be bad tires but I don't know what else it could've been. Like i said at least you didn't eat pavement. Keep the videos coming brother.

I wonder if this is still a thing with the 23 1100? My scl500 reads over 95. Ive hit 97 a few times.
@meggahertz Жыл бұрын
did you get the radial or bias belted tire for the front?
@theaces182 жыл бұрын
Do bias vs radial ply matter? Honda doesn't seem to specify. More importantly what works better with the cruisetecs

I had the exact same issue on a 2018 Goldwing. It was the Dunlop tires. I’ll never purchase that brand again.

I balanced my new tires on my 500 with beads instead of clip on weights and the ride became noticeably better. Dunlop's looking sus right meow.

What tire pressure do you have them set "cold", and how high to they go when "hot"?

Factory recommended setting is 33 PSI, or around 2.35 bar

Dunlops are terrible for heavier bikes. I had them on my Shadow 750, and any level of moisture on them made me loose grip. If I am to recommend, Metzeler are working great for me.
@LifeOfBurch2 жыл бұрын
Yea I haven’t had the best experience with Dunlops so far. Which Bridgestones are you running?
@ryuzoku2 жыл бұрын
@@LifeOfBurch Ah, sorry, as I was not riding my bike for 2 Months now, I wrote the wrong brand I have right now :/ I run METZELER MARATHON ME888 ULTRA But for 100% I do recommend those, grips to the street very well, and from the moment I change dunlops to those I have no stress of riding in the rain etc (earlier it was a nightmare).
@LifeOfBurch2 жыл бұрын
@@ryuzoku oh ok cool, so we’re both running Metzelers! I actually was looking at the ones you have before landing on the Cruisetecs. Glad to hear they’re working out well for you!

The tire tread is backwards on the stock tires. They should be recalled.
@peterwilson80392 жыл бұрын
Back to the point in my comment. If it were that simple why didn't Honda, with some of the best engineering talent in the automotive/motorcycle world, would figure it out at the factory before they shipped it.

How is it that Honda has not addressed this issue? This sounds like a 1973 Harley issue, not a 2024 Honda issue.
