Hi Brian. I saw the EV3 in August in South Wales. Although a great car, there were 3 disappointments for me 1. There's no covered storage other then the glove box., because of 2. The ironing board. And 3. The HVAC control screen seems to be too obscured by the steering wheel. Once the test drive is available, I'll decide what to do. For now, I'm undecided.

I see it was the same guy who presented the car at Kia Solihull last Saturday. Fortunately, the 'ironing board' (I thought I was the only one who called it that) wasn't as bad as I had imagined.

The ironing board is quite a good feature...😆

@@evodessey It's the nonsense about using it for a laptop while recharging or waiting for the kids to come out of school that gets me. Firstly, with that range you are unlikely to need to charge outside of the home and secondly, you would have to twist in the seat to use it. We had the production model at Solihull.

Hi Brian we go to see the car on Monday of next week. Looking forward to seeing in the flesh. On the subject of first grandchild we have ours on Fridays she is 11 months old. And having bought a car seat for us and you want the one that spins to save your backs I was amazed how big they are. Okay in my Ev 6 but will be interesting to see how much room there is in the back of the EV3. So if your likely to be having your grandchild bear that in mind when looking at the cars. Great video as usual thanks.

Cheers. Yes my stepson and his wife have already purchased the spinning all singing all dancing car seat thing. Would also be a thing to check on the Inster when we see it.

Hi Brian. I’ve had my EV6 for just over 12 months and whilst it is a great car, all the nonsense surrounding it drives me mad, so in December I’m taking delivery of a Tesla M3. Good luck with your channel and thank you for all your efforts.

Good luck with the Tesla

Good to hear the 19” wheels don’t cause a massive drop in range

You are lucky to get these so quickly. We have to wait a year in the US.

Was at a launch a couple of weeks ago, impressed with the car but not the price, waiting patiently for the Tesla Model 2, (or whatever it’s called!).

The power tailgate was working at the event that I went to. I spent some time talking to the presenter (Aussie guy), and he told me some of the differences between the pre-production model and the actual car. That awful shiny top of the dashboard is not on the production car. It's a more tactile finish. I was told earlier this week that my EV3 is due mid November, so not too long now. WLTP of 367 is a pretty good baseline. I will definately get that over 400. I saw my max range on my current e-Niro get up to 360 miles (282 WLTP) and hasn't dropped below 300 this year. it's around 330 this time of year.
@evodessey29 күн бұрын
There are 3 pre-production ones doing the UK roadshows so not all the same. You got the one with working tailgate.

@@evodessey The sunroof on kia's usually stop at that 3/4 point for aerodynamic purposes. If you press the button again, it opens all the way back. At least it was that way on my 2016 Kia Ceed 4 tech and current e-Niro.

Useful look around, thanks. Going to my local event in a week or so. But still scratching my head about the 400V architecture and slower charging compared to EV6. Will see what the HMG person at the launch has to say. Also, it looks almost as wide as EV6, though shorter - must check dimensions.
@evodessey29 күн бұрын
I said that to presenter. He said it’s not as wide but i’ve not checked.

Ive got an invite from my Kia dealer, which includes finance links. So for the same term (36months), same deposit (£4200), same mileage (10k) i can pay £633/m for the top range EV3 or £380 for a Model Y LR. (And i can reduce that via referal link down to about £350). Not really a competition. As and when the EV3 price drops to say £350-£400 which would I choose? Not sure. TBF the Kia is PCP and the Tesla lease, but even so.
@evodessey29 күн бұрын
Tesla is very competitive at the moment if you can put up with the Giant iPad for all controls. It’s not for me.

Since you have been driving Niro, can you tell which one is bigger inside?
@evodessey28 күн бұрын
It’s wider. That’s the first thing you notice. There seems to be more leg room in the back seats but i can’t tell how much until i test drive. The boot seems around the same size with the floor lifted. Again i need to test drive.
@broderwow28 күн бұрын
@@evodessey ok looking forward to that video. I like my Niro since I can fit three child seats in the back and I am wondering if the back row offer at least the same width

@broderwow I will do an item on Niro EV v EV3 dimensions on Sunday's news episode
@broderwow28 күн бұрын
@@evodessey is awesome, but please consider checking "real" dimensions, e.g., on paper, EV6 is bigger than Niro, but Niro can fit three child seats, but EV6 cannot. I have checked that empirically :)

At least you got a pizza. I went to Piccadilly, Knaresborough on 10 Oct. No drinks, no Canapes 😢 Car seems very competent and has bearable looks but too pricey. I thought the EV6 was going to lead the way for a range of pretty cars but no. Bland, boxy but bearable looks. I've seen a lot worse! Why does the EV6 have to be the only pretty car available this side of a Porche?
@evodessey29 күн бұрын
Kia Burntwood always lays on a buffet. Yes a lot of boxy other Kia EV models they are i agree with that.

Shame about the price, unless budget ups £40K limit, even then 10K over priced. Shame ccNC rather than the new google system that is coming through soon. Sadly Kia seem to have dropped the ball & are going to price themselves out of the EV market with the cheaper models.
@evodessey28 күн бұрын
It’s their choice to keep on using expensive NMC batteries. Even though Niro EV had LFP it also did not make it any cheaper. Hyundai Group have been making noises about launching their own LFP batteries by the end of 2025 so maybe that will be a tipping point.
