Hi just bought your pattern and im super excited to get to work on it! But i just have one question,would you be able to tell me whether the fabric that you used was 60 inches wide? I just need to know before making a decision on fabric.

That is a young woman's dress. It would never work on someone as old as me. It was very interesting watching you alter the pattern. I would have interfaced and lined the whole top to make sure it held the shape wanted. Thank you for this video. Please stay safe. It looks like your weather is as bad as ours here in Kentucky.

So pretty!! I love that you used a cotton blend than the organza because while the silhouette is "young", it does not scream baptismal dress like the ones made in organza.
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, I see what you mean. I used the muslin mainly because I would have been hot in an organza dress in summer (= plastic) which is why I tend to use 100% natural materials in most of my projects. This is no exception 🥰🥰

The pattern is available on my Etsy AND there is a little Goodie on my website as well: a free download of the shorts that I quickly put together off camera (you can see them in the video montage at the end). All the links in the description 🤙🏻🤙🏻 BTW guys, Etsy at the moment is the easiest method to support me, so I can give you knew videos ever single week. I understand if this is not an option for you, I would also appreciate it if you could share my videos to you friends ♥️

@@THISISKACHI I'd love to make this dress too, but I have the issue of a bigger chest size. Do you have any tips for drafting a pattern/draping for a bigger cup size?
@irrelevantmrna34003 жыл бұрын
@@Elli-oz6lh i’m pretty sure rachel maksy puts a bra on her dress form and probably stuffs it, but if you don’t have a dress form, what i do is just wear the bra you want to wear in the garment (or no bra), a tight shirt and have a mirror on hand! you can just mark out the seams you want with thin tape and start ! carefully ! pinning the muslin to your shirt, cutting away excess fabric at the seam lines

This came out so cute! I'm doing a Brigerton inspired dress for a challenge next month, and I think I'll try this idea with tulle first. When I do puff sleeves (the super massive ones), I make a fitted sleeve underneath the puff sleeve which helps force the puff. It usually works better with heavier fabrics though.

Omg I needed this video 2 weeks ago. I just finished making a very similar dress. I couldn’t figure out the sleeve pattern for the life of me, I spent around 10 hours of maximum brain power to figure it out😂. But as always, love the video! Such a gorgeous dress

i wanna use the same kind of fabric, did you putt the instructions for the tape on the stitches, the tule puff and lining of the sleeves in your etsy pattern? :)
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Etsy pattern has a pdf with written sewing instructions 👍🏻
@H3yY00u3 жыл бұрын
@@THISISKACHI thank you ! does it also include the french seams and how to do it ? :)
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I explain that again in the instructions pdf. But it's without seam allowance - you will have to add that yourself but all of that is in the pdf.

Love it! Can you recommend one of your videos that show how to attach the bodice to the skirt while having a really clean inside? My inside seam are always raw and idk how to make it clean! Thank you
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
You can either overlock the seam or if you want it even cleaner, finish the seam with bias tape. But for a thick seam like that one, I would recommend to only overlock. Of course, lining is also always an option 🥰
@jasminesantos82423 жыл бұрын
@@THISISKACHI thank you so much! I have an overlock machine and never used it! I’ll try it out on my next project

Can you tell me what that word is you used here: 22:21 maybe I'm stupid but it sounded like some kind of french technical term and I wanna know what it is. I'm really curious about all this geometric stuff that's involved in sewing
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Volant 👍🏻 but that is a curved piece which you would put on a straight line for some volume 👌🏻
@user-pl4yq1oc1y3 жыл бұрын
So cute! Is there a reason for not interfacing the full bodice pieces?
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I didn't want to put lining and you wouldn't put the interfacing on the skin directly (to my knowledge).
@user-pl4yq1oc1y3 жыл бұрын
@@THISISKACHI Yes, thank you! Wouldn't the interfacing tape be on your skin or did you only inface the 1/2inch or whatever of seam allowance?
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
It technically touches the skin, but the touching is not so much the problem as the rubbing against the skin and therefore the glue detaching from the fabric, making everything look bubbly and just not good anymore. I put the interfacing tape on and sewed over it with my French seams so that the tape is secured in place, leaving no room to shift while wearing the dress 👍🏻

Love it! I missed the 'hi guys' at the beginning, haha. Do you just eyeball your seam allowances when you're cutting and sewing? I got some of that musselin fabric for a dress, can't wait for my pattern to get here so I can start working with it :)
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Yea, I completely left the intro out this time because the last couple of videos I kept either saying "I'm gonna keep this intro short" or "I'm gonna talk about this more in a sec" and kinda felt it was unnecessary 😂🥰 And yes, I eyeball my seam allowance, I got pretty good at measuring without a ruler because of that 😂🙈

Loving this dress!!! Just wondering at what point did you insert the elastic into the top of the sleeve and how? Did you gather the sleeve to be the length of the elastic first and then sandwich it in between the muslin and the tulle?
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
No, I folded the upper corner and stretched the elastic to the size of the sleeve to sew it in. The elastic then gathers everything nicely 🥰 the tulle I sewed onto the seam allowance of that seam with the elastic so it doesn't show while stretching it to have maximum elasticity 👍🏻

I love how this turned out! 💖 I tried making the puff dress last year out of cotton fabric and I found it quite difficult to sew the skirt to the bodice as I gathered each of the 3 layers individually thinking it would create more volume. Do you think basting and then gathering all 3 layers would have been better/achieved the same result?
@THISISKACHI3 жыл бұрын
Oh how nice!! I think gathering 3 layers at once would have been very difficult, if even possible. I think you did everything correct 👍🏻
