The proper way to pressure test a vessel is to fill it with water. The pressure test works identical to air, but when the vessel fails, you hear a crack instead of an explosion. Its even safer if you fill it with water and submerge the vessel in water during the test. "Hydro-testing" as they say. I pressure tested a 5 gallon keg to failure this way at 150psi with a hand pump without an issue.

I like how methodical your build is. The way you learn from your mistakes is inspiring. I particularly like how you pressure tested the tank. I can only imagine how your work style will translate to testing at the track. Great job!
@noxxs

If you ever have to pressure test a new component in the future, consider using DI water to fill up most of the void. If your component does pop, it doesn’t explode like a compressed gas will.

One of my favourite parts of your videos is the closing commentary, and how you give such an honest gauge of what's happened and where you're at. This episode, the joy on your face was obvious and infectious. So happy for you achieving this milestone.

When pressure testing fill with water first. That way the air inside won't compress under pressure. It is safer to test with water inside. Less explodey. I mean put water into the air chambers for testing.

A tip I've learned for fixing welding pinholes is using Loctite 290 which is "penetrating grade". It wicks into small cracks, pinholes and weld porosity and seals them up extremely well. I am also a mediocre aluminum welder and have found this to be a very easy way to fix tiny oopsies that if you try to go in and weld up can result in a runaway issue that just keeps getting worse. Leak repairs using this stuff have never failed for me. Have used it to seal radiators, wheels, oil fittings that have survived track abuse. Not sure it would have recovered your 2nd attempt but I would have tried it!

You can do brazing with the tig torch, you just need some brazing rods. You could potentially touch up that pinhole if you use the right brazing rod. The difference between brazing and welding that is giving you trouble is the Flux. Flux is a chemical that when heated cleans the metals to be joined and keeps them clean while the liquid metal is flowing on the base metal. The brazing rods have Flux in or on them that comes out as the rod is melted. You need aluminum specific brazing rods because aluminum needs more aggressive Flux to break through the oxide layer.

You might already know this, so sorry if telling you to suck eggs, when you pressure test things in industry you would typically use a hydrostatic test, so water and a pump. The key difference between water and air in this case is water being incompressible won't explode the tank during a failure, it'll pop the weld then just leak out. Much, much safer. Epic build though, matey. So good to see it running so well

The dyno chart suggest that there is more fine tuning can be done... Especially in the aspect of vvt (not vtec) to close earlier at higher rpm... And maybe slight advance vvt at lower rpm just to aid spool up and torque area under the curve at below 6k rpm... Anyway im stoked to see good dyno session and cant wait to see this car action on the track 💪🤘
