I favor both ❤Dennis & Shane as pro pool players. It was advised that comments should be respectful. I understand the reason for the advisement however during the commentating few times when a player called a specific ball to be pocketed in a specified pocket it was commentated after the shot the player’s intention was to shoot for safety shot. Also for words like “LUCK or LUCKY” should never be used towards any player. In stamped time “3:18:14” the player calls 3 ball in corner pocket but missed the shot. The shot was described as if it was intended to be a safety shot with planting the cue ball behind the 9 ball. The player won that rack. “Lady Luck” was commentated and applied to the leading player after attempting to bank the #2 ball into the side pocket but missed the pocket and rolled and stopped between right top pocket and #3 ball. (Stamped time 3:35:52 - 3:36:09) the Commentator says “Shane is smiling as to say what did I do to deserve this, oh he’s just putting a smile on his face excepting the fact Lady Luck is by Dennis’s side”. Not very professional it might seem that the commentator has shown that he has a favorable player that is not in the score lead.

I’ve never heard Shane or Dennis talk bad about another player during a match or even in general. Both Shane and Dennis can shoot pool extremely well of course they’re both are professionals. In life it is a very negative behavior to insinuate words that any person may or may not speak of especially in a public format in a professional sports event. It just provoke more negativity. In the broadcasting television and video industry negativity is often common and useful in drawing in viewers and curiosity interest nevertheless of the reasons it still stimulates activity and results to the end goal. Building the sight, generate revenue ultimately, promoting and branding are all considered end goals. The Commentator should always be equal, fair, ultimately describe the action going on and avoid inserting what cannot be confirmed immediately as fact, especially what someone might or might not be thinking. Just avoid all assumptions period. It prevents unnecessary negativity. Commentators can play strong role in the media. The media can play an extreme role when it comes to what was thought or said by any one individual especially if it’s a high profile individual like athletes. If it can’t be factual or factored suppress the content.Liability can be heavy to endure or Cary around in your life eventually causing you to get desperate for relief.

I would have to agree that in this format, and being down 18, a poor break is going to be better than an effective break. You want more balls left on the table, not less. More chances after push out of coming back in. So on a dry break, the incoming player's first shot also has to be a push out or safety shot?

I see the logic behind the format, and kudos. But why not just move forward with Strickland's idea of the perfect game. Check out his recent interview where he describes how there is no advantage for either player, and seemingly no luck. At first it was hard to imagine like this format is. Dennis would have wanted the safety after the break rule of course. There is probably nobody on the planet right now who can beat Dennis with that rule. I have said this is the way to fix 9 ball so that the players don't have to spend 8 hours a week practicing the break.

How many games was dennis down when they played the race to 100? I think he was down something crazy like 20 games or close to it.....and he came back to win by 7 or 8! At the level of these guys, running out is basically automatic. They can easily string 10 in a row if rolls are favorable. This format forces the players to display other aspects of the sport (kicking, tactics, safety) which we fans get so little of in conventional formats. There’s plenty of pool knowledge to be had in this match. If we want to become complete pool players, learning to run out is not enough. This format is more entertaining and unpredictable in my opinion. Negates shane advantage on the break though. Props to shane for engaging dennis in this format. Both are all time greats . They have had so many great battles.

Players choose this format to match up against Shane. Shane's break is the difference between himself and the other elite level players. They all know he is favored in a long race because he will break and run out more then they will because of his break. So to get them to match up Shane is giving Denis weight by using this format. They both know this period.

I see a lot of butthurt Shane fans complaining about how dumb this format is. Here’s the thing; Chang Jun Lin (beast of a player from Taiwan) went to the Philippines and played a race to 63 match vs Baseth Mocaibat. Chang got clobbered 39-63 playing this same format. The Taiwanese fans, being the kind people that they are, graciously accepted defeat and gave props to Baseth for playing well. The difference in the attitude of Shane’s and Chang’s fans is very noticeable and it just makes me cringe.

More entertaining for me.. more unpredictable. More tactical play and kicking. These guys can easily break and run 10 racks. Run outs are automatic for them. This format brings out the best of their safety game and tactics. This format negates shane’s advantage on the break though. Props to him for engaging dennis in this format. They have had so many great battles. Both are all time greats. Hoping one day fedor can come visit sharks. Fedor and FSR are the best in the world right now.

I use the jump stick myself but like limiting the jump. I dont believe it should be taken out completely but should be limited. An easy escape with a jump really ruins the overall tactical aspect of the sport. So i guess these rules are made for other aspects of the sport to be displayed better. Excluding the break, maybe dennis is a better all around player than shane?I dont know. He has beaten shane in a long race with the conventional format as well. Im sure shane has beaten dennis multiple times before. dont really know their head to head matchup history and their backroom money game battles. they should do this more often, in different formats and other pool disciplines for the fans to see. They should play long races of 8 ball, rotation, one pocket. That would be a real treat for pool fans.

When you see pros rolling the balls in the rack with their thumbs they are not trying to make it tight, they are trying to make tiny gaps in just the right places.
