Surely Isthmian League Division One North side Grays Athletic have also broken the rules then? Albeit they were only acting due to what seems to be the inevitability that then neighbours Thurrock wouldn't have a league to compete in due to them not having an owner and the fact that the youth players of Thurrock would have still wanted to carry on playing, but Grays did this before Thurrock had played their last league game of the 2017-18 season.

I would guess, that they are losing money each week under the current playing arrangement and given that relegation is likely regardless can ensure the future of the club by dropping out now and not accruing further debt over the rest of the season. Only a guess though, great video and coverage as always!

Lots of non league teams going pop nowadays. Players don't want to give up there Saturdays anymore, they want to play 6 A side weeknights instead.

I think unlike a few decades ago men are expected and hopefully willing to; muck in with their families more. People also work Saturdays more than they used to. Both are problems for the footballers and attendance levels.
