By the way, if you want the complementary color you can just add (+) or substract (-) 180 to the color, the number is degree on the circle wheel of 360 degrees.

I think your photos were looking alright already. If you really want to find your style, explore colour grading with RGB curves, quite similar to split toning but way more powerful and gives you control over highs, MIDS & shadows. All the colouring happens in the mids. Highlights and shadows are not that really important in terms of colour - might just desaturate them a bit. Split toning is a very delicate tool in my opinion. It's only for a subtle effect or to fix a photo which has random cast over it which cannot be corrected through HSL.

Hi! Any tutorial for what youre talking about ? i want to learn more
In the link you posted, you jumped from using Lightroom (LR) to using Photoshop (PS), where this vid is directed at using LR; apples and oranges...or at least oranges and tangelos. I will admit that with all of my photos I start in LR and then (Command-E Mac) send the image to PS to apply the curve you're talking about. That last step of adding an S-curve in PS to the photo really makes it pop. Funny thing is that it was my wife's idea while I was editing my photos to do this as the last step (just giving props where props are due). And I truly love and appreciate Mark's tips as I work to improve my overall photography skills! Keep it up brother!
@helmet2124 жыл бұрын
@@rustyellis Oh sorry, I didn't realise I'm sending a Ps link. Although the curves tool in both Lr & Ps works exactly the same. Here's the link for Lr curves tool kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5m0m6dqlJ2sr80 I was talking about exploring color with the curve tool's individual Red, Green & Blue channels. It enables you to manipulate color throughout the dynamic range i.e. highlights, mids & shadows. Split toning was mainly used when developing analog b/w film, where you can color it in two colors, in only highlights and shadows. But mids is where all the coloring magic is. The next time you watch a movie, observe the highs and shadows are almost desaturated. Regarding the S curve, you can do it with Lr's curve tool with the exact same result, no need to go to Ps for this. I only take my photos to Ps if I need to remove or add any element. Lr is quite a powerful and focused photography software. Mark is an excellent landscape photographer, but I must say sometimes he goes overboard with post-processing. Each for their own opinion. All the best with your photography. Would love to see your work. Share your Instagram. Stay safe.

This is such a great video! Thank You for making this. I’ve been looking for info on split toning and other techniques to improve my editing and final product. Every other KZbinr puts out these “tutorial” videos but it’s all BS, they just apply their presets. Then proceed to push their presets products and never go into detail about how to edit with out having to buy someone else’s presets. It’s annoying and has turned me away from photography and cinematography KZbinrs. Every video I go to someone’s trying to sell me something and not providing the information I’m looking for and I waste SO MUCH time watching those videos. The videos are just bait. But this was a breath of fresh air. Thank You 🙏🏽 and SUBSCRIBED. This is the type of Content I want to support.
