Antique Miter Saw Restoration

In this video I restored an antique German miter saw that I purchased 4 years ago. After finding out that this saw was built in 1905 I decided to preserve the history of this piece a s much as I could.
I also discovered an amazing trick that they used 120 years ago. Placing sandpaper between wood and metal helps to keep them steady for a very long time as we see in this video.
This restoration brought me satisfaction, thrill, joy and some frustrations. I spent almost two months restoring this beauty and recorded over 300 clips to create this video. Hope you will enjoy watching and see you in the next one!

Fantastic job Boris, for once again you've managed to breathe new life into an old, neglected tool. Used one in university shop in old university in Detroit. It was rat holed away when I found it. The school was founded in 1868. The saw I believe was from 30’s mostly cast and steel but table for work pieces was hardwood. It was in good shape but dirty loose etc.. Had a nice saw with it that I sent out to be sharpened. The brand was Millers Falls. Still there and the guys and myself would use it for framing maps ( campus) and other little jobs in shop.

when using treadle and velocipede lathes you should use hss. its time appropriate and are much better suited to lower rpm machines (better surface finish and much less brittle)
