That was my favorite block for groceries, fresh bread ( Sarcones) back in the early 2000's. When Sarcones had a deli. The Angelo's people always get press. The line was out of the door, so I left.

Depending on the place, certain cheeses work better. Not every place has good wiz if they offer wiz. Cooper sharp is too strong a cheese for a cheesesteak. You lose out on the flavor of the meat. John’s roast pork, American with onions is the best cheesesteak in Philly…in the world. Sharp provolone was a bad move because again, you don’t want a sharp cheese on a cheesesteak. It overwhelms everything else. Sharp provolone works much better with the roast pork.

Had a craving for a good cheesesteak sandwich but don't live near Philly. Did a google search and found a local highly rated sandwich shop that sold supposedly really good cheesesteak sandwiches. It was mushy, extremely chopped up meat with cheese melted through it on a soft roll. Everything about it was soft. Couldn't taste the cheese or steak as it was all mushed together. Not good. Still craving a good cheesesteak sandwich.

$140 for a cheesesteak is 1) absurd 2) why use such good quality beef for a streetfood snack 3) I didn’t see the cheese in this sandwich at all, I saw 6 types of Wagyu beef, butter, caramelised onions, lots of truffle and a seeded bun cut open from the top but no cheese… I don’t like wizz at all that ain’t cheese… so I’d go for Angelo’s even though Pat’s deserves a praise for creating this delicious concoction 😋
