I had risotto once a long time ago and didn't really like it. Then my friend made some at the cottage, but he kinda underdid it. He's a professional chef but he was making 5 dishes at once for like 14 people, so I won't flame him too hard. And other than crunchy rice, it was great. So I tried to make some about a month ago with chicken stock and had it with boneless fried chicken thighs. Risotto is actually nuts good when you give it enough love and really focus on it. Plus, being basically rice and stock, it's cheap as hell. I've made it like 9 times since 😂

Risotto is one of those dishes that are easy in theory, but so easy to mess up.
@8xottox84 ай бұрын
@@LastKnight0727 It's not really that easy to mess up, any more than any other rice dish. You literally just boil rice until it's done. That's it. The only way to ruin it is to either burn it or try to make it with normal rice.
@cutmeloosebruce19554 ай бұрын
@@8xottox8 You have clearly never made actual risotto then. Actual risotto, made to order, is not boiled, it is cooked in a pan, with ladles of stock at a time on a lower heat, to allow the rice to absorb the liquid and become a thick, creamy texture.
@Alsry14 ай бұрын
@@8xottox8 nope. You can easily ruin it by overcooking the rice. thats how you get risotto that is like porridge, or extremely hard rice because you undercooked it. You can also ruin it by dicing the onion too roughly. risotto is the one of the only dishes that dicing onions super fine actually does something. No grating will not work because it gives you a different texture. since risotto is also a dish that relies on stock, your stock making skills will also need to show, bad stock = bad risotto.

Something relatively cheap, tasty, and easy to make is chopped cheese. Recipe is everywhere, but my wife hates bread, so we use a tortilla and make it into a cheeseburger wrap! It uses ground beef, but can be almost any ground meat or soya (textured vegetable protein), and since you chop up the meat after crisping it up, the surface area is bigger without actually using up too much meat. It satisfies your fatty, burger cravings while being relatively cheap and healthier than if you got a burger (assuming you load up more on the veggie side and less on the meat and sauces). You can also sautee up some onions and mushrooms in the meat fat too to add more veggies and flavor.
@BlazeFire1995_yt3 ай бұрын

I work for an american subsidiary of the largest imitation crab distributor in Japan. Man, do we care about our product and I swear it is because of our parent company. I hear all the time we make the best imitation crab compared to other brands who are based in the US. I love working somewhere that cares about it's product. We handle fish all day, and it hardly smells like fish at all on the production floor. The benefits are really good too. It may be factory work, but we've got so many employees who have been here for 5 or more years. That's saying something for factory work.

@jmap I'm totally fine with sharing! It's a really secure facility with several scanned entrances so I'm not too worried about it. It's Trans Ocean products. We actually just started supplying Aldi in the midwest and southern states. We make these little snack packs that are pretty cheap but the best is the chunk or leg style imitation crab. I'm not a huge fan of it alone but there are some really good salad recipes on the packets and also crab rangoon with the shredded imitation meat tastes exactly the same as dungeness crab to me.
@alyasfukename33552 ай бұрын
@jmap as a side note, I have worked a ton of food service, including in food service maintenance, and I genuinely mean it when I say I have never worked somewhere that cares so much about cleanliness. We actually meet the multinational standards for a gluten-free facility, not just the US standards. We hire an independent firm three times a year to inspect us on top of the standard OSHA and US food safety inspections.

@@alyasfukename3355thanks so much for taking the time to share, that’s super interesting. Japanese companies’ rigor and attention to detail is really impressive, generally speaking.
