Stretch out your fingers and thumbs on both hands with week 3 of my 5 Minute Follow Along Movement Series! In this video, we'll work on increasing finger and thumb range of motion with passive stretches and active movement.
No equipment is needed!
Every Friday I'll be uploading a variety of quick finger, wrist, and arm exercises you can do just about anywhere with little to no equipment. Make sure you subscribe so you can follow along each week!

✅The exercises we'll be doing in this video are:
00:28 Passive finger flexion stretches on Right hand
02:51 Passive finger flexion stretches on Left hand
04:01 Passive thumb flexion and extension stretch on Right thumb
06:10 Passive thumb flexion and extension stretch on Left thumb
07:39 Thumb tip to finger tip O exercise on both hands
There is a common misconception that more is better but when it comes to your already overworked hands, less is more! You don't have to do a lot of exercises to make them free from stiffness and and joint pain.
In this movement series, we'll be doing 5 exercises, some are done on both hands at the same time while others are better done seperately. Each exercise is only 1 minute with a total workout of 5 minutes. That's a quick way to care for your overworked hands!
Most of all don't forget to breathe (we have a tendency to hold our breath when doing hand exercises), but more importantly be proud of yourself for caring for the 'tools' you were given to create, work, and play!

This is helping me. Broke my elbow ice skating 7 weeks ago. Hand still very swollen. Fingers don’t bend. No grip or strength. ❤

Technique, in martial arts, is to keep the back of the wrist straight when making a fist to avoid a broken wrist. I tried the exercises both ways. I recommend a straight fist. If only to make it a habit. Otherwise, I love these stretches! Namaste PS 40 yrs of T'ai chi talking here.

I recently had wrist surgery due to a fall that caused a fractured wrist. Underwent surgery that consists of pins and a plate at the wrist area. Currently has started PT. And I must say that finding your channel is really helping me outside of therapy. Thank you so much for your uploading of these exercises. God Bless You❤️

i play guitar but i also have all the itis brothers-arthritis, bursitis, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. i've had cortisone shots in my middle, index and thumb of the left hand which does help. but, i wondered if you could do some special ones for guitar players. this would include shoulders down to tips of fingers? thanks, really enjoy your site.

What should I do? I have arthritis in my first finger. My knuckle is very bad but the first joint is the worst. If I bend it in exercises it siezes and I have to use my left hand to open it.

Hey Michelle, I’ve been meaning to ask you! Have you come across patients who’ve realised, they’re thumb pain was due to wearing a tight watch strap? Only, I’m beginning to think that might be the cause of my thumb pain. Due to the pain, I decided to wear my watch strap looser. Since then my thumb has started to heal, and the pain has got less and less. 🤦🏻‍♂️⌚️😬

Yes! Hair ties, watches, tight bands around the wrist can definitely aggravate and pinch the small nerves and blood vessels to the hand and thumb. Glad you figured that out! And you’ve given me an idea for a new video! 🤗🙏

@@VirtualHandCare I stopped guitar practice because I thought the thumb pain might be caused by gripping the fretboard too tight. But now I know it’s my watch strap, I should be able to resume guitar practice when it’s better. Thanks Michelle, I’ll stay tuned! (No pun intended😆). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@@VirtualHandCare I believe what has also helped, is a form of Vitamin B6-(Pyridoxal 5’-Phosphate). In liquid form (it’s tasteless) ten drops are dissolved in water/juice and taken with food. It’s supposedly good for nerve damage, aiding nerve repair.
