Today, I'm having to give myself permission to throw things away. I've found that I've begun to feel a bit guilty when throwing away even small pieces of paper or packaging, when I could save it from adding more to the dump. But I can NOT save every little gravy package or cut paper corner. So, I'm giving myself permission to be selective and throw the rest away. If I don't love it, it doesn't get to take up space in my craft room. And while I may not be able to save it all, I am saving some of it from the trash heap. I refuse to feel guilty about it any more, when I'm doing the best I can to do my part. If anyone else has found themselves feeling this way, or in this same position and you're having trouble giving yourself that same permission, I give you permission to throw things away or donate them if applicable, and love your stash. Even if we go above and beyond, we can't do it all and we can't do more than our part. Happy creating!🎨🧵🪡

On the spine, I would probably try a small word like "autumn" at the top and/or bottom with a simple metal bookplate, and add a spine dangle. That would be something to keep with inside of the journal and not too much to take away from the beautiful fabric.

How is it that I learn something new every time you post a video!?! Those clusters are divine!! The addition of the palm bark adds that perfect touch of rustic fall texture to them. And the stamping on the die cuts take them to a whole new level. I am learning that it is those extra steps you take that make everything you create just that much more. Oof! That was a close one with the spine. I think I watched Nik the Booksmith make a similar journal and she sewed the signatures onto the spine then attached the spine to the book….a lot easier that way 😉 Love the colours, the characters, and especially the chubby bird stamping….so cute! My vote for the spine: I would have added a dangle with glossy handmade paper beads, gold or glass or metal beads, and an autumn themed pendant piece of some sort. Otherwise it’s lovely just the way it is! 🧡❤️💛🤎

I think the cover is great and I loved the stamps on the fussy cuts. I wondered if the leaves on the cover would integrate better if they were outlined in black. Machine stitching...oh my goodness. Sacrilege but so quick and practical.❤

Hi Barbara, Its Beverly from Missouri, USA. Just wanted to let you know that enjoyed this Fall Junk Journal series. Autumn is my favorite season. I appreciate you sharing your thought process with us. In education, we refer to this technology as metacognition. I am not sure if you realize how much this helps us to learn and understand each of the techniques and/or steps you follow. This journal turned out so well. I could definitely see myself making something like this. Using your sewing machine to stitch the signatures was brilliant. I'd make sure I used a needle for sewing heavy fabric as well.
