Do me a favor and check out my friend's youtube channels for even more content about this incredible Eliminator Daytona jet boat. Without Kevin Smith and Pete Harrell, Newbern and I wouldn't have gotten wifey's boat done and water-tested in time for our family vacation.

My hat flew off a few years ago while racing a good friend of mine and got sucked into my turbo. It's 1 hell of a ride when your running about 130 mph and come to almost a dead stop. What really sucked besides having to buy a new turbskie is the water that came rushing in from the back of the boat and swamped the hell out of my new LSX build. Luckily it didn't swamp all my Holly electronics 😱👍😂
@BF26595
@BF26595 2 жыл бұрын
@@LymerPnB The 711 in gameover is already a sick Brodix aluminium block and with the cubes it has and the turbos on it, it could easily crank out 3500hp. The problem with gameover is that the suction hardware on the bottom of the boat where the jet drive ingests water is not yet properly calibrated and at a certain speed the boat is so far out of the water that it can't suck in any more water and hits a speed limit and the engine goes revving to the moon.

@@robertlawler1387 well see when you raise your head up slightly over the windshield the wind sorta grabs it and does whatever. Also I dont tell anyone including you on what to do or how to do it because it's YOUR LIFE not mine. So how about you not worrying about mine and trying to persuade me to put a helmet on. I promise you I've been in A LOT WORSE circumstances in my life that required a helmet. So weather I'm going fast in my 1200hp boat or my 3000hp twin turbo race car it's my decision on how much of a dumbass I wanna be. As long as I'm not involving or hurting any other people or things besides me and my own then it's no bodies business but my own. I hope this helps clear things up for you. Now go worry about someone that gives 2 shits about what you think.

I think what you’re experiencing when you let of the throttle and the boat delays to slow down is that the air has packed into the tunnels and you are riding on the “cushion” of air and when you let off the throttle it takes a moment for the boat to settle back into the water

Did you ever get rid of that little turbo collector elbow? That thing is a major restriction, takes you down to like 1 turbo territory. You need the pressure pipes from the turbos to dump into tubing which is no smaller than the size of the throttle body, period. Or, if you want to get fancy, I'm sure there's a program out there to model the flow through that part and optimize it. Either way, there's a whole bunch more power to be had.

Why not put a row of air jets towards the front of the boat to help disturb the water to make the boat go faster in calm water...you could have an air pump blasting air through a full row of small jets going side to side on the bottom of the hull right where it touches the water at full plain...that would break up the sticking factor of smooth water...maybe...

@zxggwrt 2 жыл бұрын
I have a brochure from the early eighties that had a twin turbo kit for my boat. The tractor turbos mounted on the back of the log manifolds and the water just dumped out the turbo exhaust like a regular exhaust. That was their idea.
@HMXDave
@HMXDave 2 жыл бұрын
I'm probably just showing my "turbo ignorance", but what about BOVs? I ran turbo Yamaha mountain sleds over the years and they had a BOV to lessen/prevent that 'keeps accelerating" feeling when off the throttle. On a sled you are in and out of tthe throttle a lot when boondocking through the snow, and there was nothing quite like hearing that "pssssshhht...pssssht" when you got off the throttle.
@Sharkey_t
@Sharkey_t 2 жыл бұрын
the "keeps accelerating" thing is just as they explained, the smaller throttle movement doesnt choke off enough air to make a difference. the blow off valve wont open because there isnt enough pressure difference between whats in the manifold and whats in the charge pipe. you have to get real aggressive with your throttle movements to make a difference. the way i solve this issue on a car is by setting up a boost vs tps (throttle position) table. it basicly works by varying your target boost based off throttle position, so less throttle means less boost. for this to work though your ecm must be controlling the boost, something they arent doing with this boat (its just running directly off wastegate spring)

Fin that tunnel hull is awesome but your acceleration seems to leave a little to be desired. F1 tunnel hulls use a mercury 425hp outboard and accelerate much quicker than your boat does. Not sure if maybe there’s some drive tuning to be done? I would imagine your boat should be much quicker in a straight line than a 425hp f1 tunnel hull with that jet drive on the back
@Greg1096
@Greg1096 2 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing weight is probably one of the issues with acceleration, that and the water intake probably could use some tuning, gotta be able to pull a massive amount of water through the drive to get moving any faster, I seem to remember on game over he had to open up the inlet a bit because it was limiting his speed
@conanruisi
@conanruisi 2 жыл бұрын
@@Greg1096 yeah but that’s not the issue they’re having here. They said in the video that they have to choke down the flow and increase the pressure a bit, that’ll definitely help but so will a smoother and quicker trim action and maybe a trim adjustment. It’s a 5 seater so weight is the one factor he has to work around, that being said maybe a power steering pump should be mounted to control the trim hydraulically, it’ll be fast and accurate and it won’t just be two positions, it’ll be dynamic which will help with the launch. The neutral bucket was also something that game over had that gave it the ability to launch extremely hard, that would definitely help here. I mean I don’t know if it’s the same pump and engine that was in game over or not, I haven’t been paying that close attention. But if it is I’m sure that’ll come at some point but not until he gets it tuned up a little bit more. Changing the weight distribution more towards the front could help too. F1 tunnel hulls have a prop in the water to hold them up that’s why they’re fine with the back end sitting in the water while the boats stopped, because the outboard pushes the back end up and keeps the front end pushed down. This boat sits rearward in the water but for a jet drive that would be a minor disadvantage, the more level he can get it the quicker it’ll plane out. The hull design is definitely not a limitation, it’s about the same size as an f1 tunnel hull, it is a true tunnel hull, it’s just got a recreational deck on top. So the flatter it floats while it’s stopped the quicker it’ll be flat on the plane, which is exactly what a tunnel hull needs to be fast. The trim adjustment and accuracy also helps with planing out. Weight is definitely a factor in a family vehicle period, but I think it’s just gonna get ironed out with basic tuning.
@Keifsanderson

@@Keifsanderson but mostly the point was the pro boats are an extremely similar design and plane out with 450hp on a prop. Jet drive has an improved thrust:horsepower ratio it should be able to plane out quicker and go faster than a prop boat with a similar hull hp and weight
