Fear Factory - Demanufacture is how you do a second album. Their first album was pretty good industrial death metal for the time, but Demanufacture upped the grooviness, the production value and Seabell's vocals were on the whole, much better. It's technically not perfect, the Dog Day Sunrise cover is a bit out of place, but in my opinion it's still a masterpiece, one that Fear Factory themselves have not been able to top.

That album was a game-changer for me. Soul was good, but I think Burton was still finding his voice - literally. It's still on my desert island discs list.

It’s top tier early 00s pop punk, with an emphasis on the Pop (which is a good thing for this genre). So nostalgic for me, I love it.

My ranking no one asked for: Significant Other (Limp Bizkit): C Pretty. Odd. (Panic! at the Disco): Not a big Panic! at the Disco fan but I'd probably give it a B or C, haven't listened to it. The Changing of Times (Underoath): Haven't listened to really any Underoath tbh but their newer stuff kinda sounds like POST HUMAN: NeX GEn mixed with Sleep Token, I'm a much bigger fan of the former and the last time I listened to a Sleep Token song was a Drumeo video like 2 months ago. Also the snippet in the video is F tier. Dude Ranch (Blink-182) Top of A or Bottom of S Into the Unknown (Bad Religion): F Perseverance (Hatebreed): Ngl I haven't listened to a single Hatebreed song. Snippet was great, playing was very clean for a hardcore album. Waking the Fallen (Avenged Sevenfold): A Meteora: S Iowa: S G N' R Lies (Guns N' Roses): B but only because Patience carries. People use the gamer word usage in One in a Million as a way to diminish one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever written a few tracks prior. Hot take but separate the art from not only the artist, but also the controversy. I say this not to defend the usage of the word, but that one track with a lot of controversy shouldn't affect anyone's opinion on another track free from it. Of the ones I've listened to: 1. Meteora 2. Iowa 3. Dude Ranch 4. G N' R Lies 5. Waking the Fallen 100% gonna check out Hatebreed later.

@@PedroHenrique-mj1mn Yeah I saw that on the discography page when looking at some of the tracklists for refreshers/to see if I recognized any songs from albums I hadn't listened to, on some of these, but I included the 3rd because it was the album brought up, not the actual 2nd album.

Fear Factory's sophomoric album changed metal. Soul of a New Machine is actually my favorite, but that's because it's such a unique sound and, once Demanufacture came out, everything after that seemed like it was just riffing on that second album. If they had made 6 albums that sounded like SoaNM, I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much.

Have you listened to Concrete? It was meant to be their first release, but went unreleased for like 11 years due to a legal dispute with Ross Robinson (who produced it)... Some of it was re-recorded for Souls but it's worth checking out as there are songs that are exclusive to that recording

Waking The Fallen is one of my definitive albums of all time. Not A7X's most concise effort, of which City Of Evil takes that crown, but absolutely blows their first album out of the water! Title intro/Unholy Confessions, Chapter Four, Remenissions, Desecrate Through Reverence, Eternal Rest, Second Heartbeat, Radiant Eclipse, I Won't See You Tonight, Clairvoyant Disease, And All Things Will End. A God-Tier sophomore album in my opinion.

@@_Arugula_Salad_ Badass! If I had more friends who were into A7X at that time, I'd have gone! As it was, my now ex-wife, her brother, and several of his friends from school rented a van and drove to Milwaukee in 2006 to see them on the City Of Evil Tour at The Rave, where they played with Coheed And Cambria. That is amazing that you met The Rev, that is quite an honor. I miss him, and his Presence in the band.

Music for the Jilted Generation by The Prodigy...no, it's not rock, metal or punk but it's a stellar album and still their best. This is when they transitioned out of their candy rave phase and started to incorporate darker elements of electronic music paired with trip hop and grunge. All round banger and loved by music fans everywhere. Ready to die on this hill... If you haven't watched their full live set at the Phoenix festival in '96 (readily available on KZbin) I suggest checking it out. You won't be disappointed. The amount of energy is mind-blowing. They damn near nearly caused a riot at the end 😂

I've heard you mention the vandals, but I didn't know you had them ranked so highly on your personal list. I was very late to them, didn't get it for a long time but it sort of just clicked for me at some point. I guess when I started to appreciate punk that didn't take itself so seriously.
