A built 48RE is leagues better than any built 68RFE. The 48 is older technology and in stock form, it blows. I'm looking into this swap on my '21 Ram 2500 for longevity.

@gadsdenconsulting7126 won't matter, the cheese hydronic lifters won't outlast the 68rfe. Just saying, every year they made a Cummins with a shorter life span.

@@robsnodgrass915 I can't disagree about the hydraulic lifters! I have an '04 5.9 dedicated sled-puller with a built 48RE and full manual valve body. I'm running around 800RWHP, and that transmission is a beast. The 68 has improved a lot and I suppose it has its place in certain applications. I tow on occasion, and I know it's gonna take a dump before long 🤷‍♂️
