A long time ago fires regularly burned in the hills of Southern California. It was part of nature's way of cleaning things out and starting over. But there were no people living in these places. Now all of Los Angeles Country is one just hunk of sprawl and the fires have decided to leave the hills and move into residential areas in the flats which historically have never seen this sort of thing. That is the main difference between these fires and previous fires.

If the timeline is correct the first of these named fires started about 11AM in Pacific Palisades at Piedra Morada Drive. The wind has been very strong and from the northeast and traveling in a southwesterly direction. Sometime later additional fires started, but the odd thing is they are not downwind of the Palisades Fire so how does a fire skip backwards against the wind? I'd like some clarification on the timeline of each of these fires and confirmation of the wind directions at each of these fires. I don't want to jump out on a burning limb, but I have to ask how the later fires were started if they were upwind of the original fire beginning in Pacific Palisades!

With the heated Santa Ana winds, fires start in dry brush just about anywhere. Has been happening for literally thousands of years there. Difference now is there's more to burn 🤷
@Raptorman09099 сағат бұрын
@bendy6626 Well actually there's less vegetation given the huge swaths of land carved up for businesses or housing. Of course, those buildings, be they commercial of residential, will also burn and once started those structures can fuel a large surge in the fire. Southern California, hasn't any significant rain since May and are well below average over that interval. That means the vegetation is ripe to burn and with the Santa Anta winds hitting upwards of 100mph all it would take is one idiot or one terrorist to do what is likely to exceed $10B in damage and might be 5 times that.

Terrible occurrence. I suggest they cut down all the decorative palm trees. As Cooper pointed out, its the Palm Trees burning up like paper that spread the fire and they are only decoration.

@fastfreeks12 сағат бұрын
@doreeneclose6295 well if they don't properly manage the trees in areas like this it will keep happening. Unless it was arsen the fire was started from power lines running through tree branches. They should probably be cutting all the trees down that are close enough to the power lines to catch fire.

Reportedly they disclosed due to the high winds & the amount of fire, helicopters are not sure where the water will actually land once “dumped” in the air. It’s basically risking the water allocation & scarce resources against combative winds that are above 80 mph.

Very sad I would also like to add that for the past 10 yrs if not more I have been r3ading about fires in California and yet they always run put of something and don't know how to deal with it. It's a very fire prone area but resources run dry????? Great governing!

@medievalcatguy677612 сағат бұрын
@@jasminelindros8923 Do your research on LA policy about fire. If wild fires are very common in California then they should have been more prepared for a scenario like that. A good comparison is Florida and hurricanes, every year there are hurricanes but they always rebuild and are prepared for the next one. After 2020 and 2022 California should have learnt.

Once again Anderson has proved he's got a pair of brass ones, going down there in a hazmat suit to still get the story. And those palmtrees are probably canary palms, not native to LA. They were brought in decades ago to give the city a certain look of being an oasis in the desert. WOOOOW big CSI Miami fan!!! Hope Proctor and her community are able to come together. This is not a time to fight and argue, its a time to offer each other a shoulder. I wish everyone in LA peace tonight. Charities need hands as much as they need funds, VOLUNTEER.

Water, resources, pipes, planes, etc. Just one problem, this type of good governance generates no press in the form of a corrupt politician puffing out his chest on how he is saving the planet with fewer cars on the road. Meanwhile, homes, businesses, lives are destroyed. Don’t worry though, nothing will change.
