better idea, relocate your base to a small island where you can stop all monster spawning on the entire island. problem solved.

This is something that I've noticed from our elder alter base but I never mentioned it because I was afraid the devs might change it, lol. This base is completely underground. The main part is directly under the alter but we expanded out some with tunnels and a few other rooms. It is all covered with stone flooring as a roof. We breed our wolves down there among other things. Whenever we get a raid, so far at least, the mobs do not attack the stone but they are aware that something is down there. They stand over the area where the wolves are and just look confused while we shoot them with bows. If a player stands under the alter they are aware of them too but just run around in circles and don't attack anything. Bats will actually kamikaze into the alter fire. Mind you there are no structures such as workbenches or carts left on any of the stone because they will attack those. We do go out and kill the mobs but as long as we stay off the stone as much as possible it never gets destroyed and if we do want to run underground they cant follow. I don't know if it will work with the mistlands mobs but we'll find out!

For farms (food, animal) the smarter thing to do is just not have "base structures" nearby. Raids will not happen unless the player is within 40 meters of 3 base structures (portal, bed, workbench, forge, etc). All my food & animal farms have no more than a single portal & workbench and are in a different biome than my base. BTW this is also why you'll trigger raids in the plains, fuling campfires and beds count as base structures.
@ArkhamOrderly
@ArkhamOrderly Жыл бұрын
@@hydrocarbon82 I agree but you will have to spend some time at your farm occasionally for planting and harvesting. Our farm is also not in the same biome as the main base but it generally takes me one whole game day to plant and feed breeders so I do sometimes get raids there(one in the meadow and one in the plains). However since we only need a mistlands farm for the mushrooms I doubt it will be taking as long so it's probably not going to be much of a problem.

@@justrock7822 Free rubbish delivery? Later in the game you don't need the greydwarf-stuff anymore. I am at the point that I prefer to let a greydwarf hit me a few times rather than killing him, because I know I will have all that rubbish in my inventory. A greydwarf dropps up to 4 different items and you need none of it. This only means waste of time. You can't kick the stuff out in your base, cause it won't despawn there and you don't want to sort them into the chests cause they are probably full and it's not worth the effort for 1-2 of an item you have chests full.

I built this about 3-4 days ago, exactly as you showed it in the video. I was so proud that I duplicated it precisely. I couldn't wait to try it out. I got a seeker event again today finally. So I went inside and waited. They all flocked to me and almost immediately one of the seekers heads was poking through the dirt wall and doing damage to me. He then glitched or something and came fully through the dirt wall and inside. lol. WTF!?!? I managed to kill him (barely) before he got me. I had already taken a few direct hits while in shock he was poking through the dirt wall. The others stayed outside until the event was over. It's a cool idea but I'll probably just take my chances out in the open. I'm geared pretty well now and shouldn't have any issues. Plus it doesn't look like I will have events in the Meadows once the next patch hits. Thanks for the vid!

@akaxjenkins

there are a couple ways. One consists of console commands. You press F5, type devcommands and then type whatever command you want. Look for "listkeys" and "setkey" as well as "resetkeys" in google. These keys store what bosses you have killed in the world. You can set them to false with resetkeys and so the raids are disabled automatically, besides the deer and boar one, the only one that can happen before killing the first boss. You can re-set them to true whenever you want, for example to buy eggs from the dwarf. The other one is using a mod called "disable random events" which i use. Getting mods set up just for this is a bit annoying but you can configure how often and what events can trigger. I have them all disabled but you can choose which one to disable. It's updated to mistlands and so you can disable every single raid.

Do seeker raids and yall raids happen in the meadows? Also if you have a large base how do you make this so your hideout is in the red zone?
@360lootgoon3
@360lootgoon3 Жыл бұрын
According to the Valheim Wiki, Seeker raids can happen in the Black Forest, Plains, Mistlands, Ashlands and Deep North biomes. According to Reddit, Seeker raids used to happen in the Meadows, but an update changed that, along with nerfing Seeker raids a bit. The Gjall raid can only occur in the Mistlands, and is one of the shorter raids, lasting 90 seconds.
@360lootgoon3
@360lootgoon3 Жыл бұрын
Forgot to add: If you have a large base that takes up the majority of the red zone, you’re better off raid proofing the entire area. The red circle is a diameter of about 64 meters, but enemies can spawn out to 96 meters. Players have to be within 40 meters of 3 “base” structures to trigger a raid, and the red raid circle centers on the player when triggered. This means if you’re base has multiple areas with 3 base structures within 40m, the actual area you need to spawn proof is quite large, since the red circle location will change depending on where you are in the base when the raid triggers. The good news? Many of those structures also prevent enemy spawns, each with a diameter of about 20m, the same as a workbench. The structures that prevent enemy spawns are: Misc: -campfire -bonfire -hearth -portal -ward Crafting: -workbench -stone cutter -artisan table -forge -smelter -blast furnace -kiln -windmill -spinning wheel -fermenter Furniture: -bed -dragon bed -sconce -standing iron torch -green iron torch (not sure about blue) -hanging brazier What I do to spawn proof an area is use workbenches, as they provide a visible circle. You want some overlap with the circles as well, because if there’s a gap between 2 workbench circles, enemies can spawn there. When I place one, i then go around and mark the circle edge with vertical wood beams so I know where the edge is when I place the next one. There’s multiple ways of going about placing them. You can dig a hole, place the workbench, then raise the ground to bury it. This makes the workbench unable to be attacked by enemies and you don’t have to look at it. (I do recommend a marker of some kind, so you remember where it is) the second, which is the one I’m currently using, is place the workbench then use 4 half walls to enclose it and put 2 - 26 degree roof ridge pieces to cover it. If enemies can’t directly see the workbench, they don’t attack it. They’re easier to remove that way rather than dig em up, though I’ll probably end up burying em eventually. Spawn proofing also allows some cooler things to do, like forcing raid enemies to spawn in a specific area, then funnel them into a death trap for their loot. This method only works for ground enemies though, as enemies like bats, seekers and Gjall can fly, making them MUCH more difficult to contain. Have fun spawn proofing!

@Khalkara
@Khalkara Жыл бұрын
Nice vid, but there is a much more stone efficient way to make the box at the start of the vid. Once you got the first 'pillar' of stone you can aim the hoe just below the top edge of it, this will raise the next pillar to the same height for only 2 stone. You may need to do this a couple of times to get the same volume in the same 'corner' of the stone box. The way you're instructing how to do it now will make the box cost 48 stone: (2*6)*4 With the efficient method the same box will cost only 24 stone: (2*6)+(2*6) Which may not sound like a lot but we're gonna want to make these Bug-Out-Boxes in lots of locations. In addition its also a time saver because it will cost less clicks.

I would like to point out that the raids aren’t dangerous enough to warrant any of this work. Even the seeker raids at endgame did nothing to my base. I finished my play through without even building the new ballista.

How did you even come up with this design? The fact that players would go through this much effort to disable or cheese raids should clue the developers into the fact that raids and defenses for them may not be a well designed mechanic.

It really wasn't that much trouble. I have a pretty good understanding of how their AI works. Took me about an hour to come up with it and about a day to perfect it.

The seekers are so strong that nothing can stop them, if you build plain walls you are screwed.

@@RodneyG669 Dirt wall op but yea you need the machicolation like protrusions to keep them from getting in. I think you can just add them as like a rampart on dirt walls and see if it works.

Raids ain't that bad. Maybe, maybe we should have option to not have them, or that wards don't allow them to start. But I don't mind them. Anyone who says that raids destroy your bases, that bs from my experience. As soon as raid starts, all you gotta do is exit your buildings/base, while still in the area of the raid. Fight if you wanna fight/farm drops or run untill timer runs out, raid ends and then take care of stranglers. If anything raids make sure you don't walk around on 25 hp while sitting in the house. And I think that is not bad

Going to be honest here but midway through watching this video i was questioning why go through all this to avoid the raids. Its only a couple of minutes and you can get free resources from other biomes and not worry a out transport. Yes some raids can be annoying like the seekers but you learn your base layout as a whole and fix the cracks..just seems pointless to build this
