When Kevin Shultz can’t make a board look good you know it’s a bucket.

I thought I was the only one thinking this. This dude has a skill level that’s through the roof, but this was the most uninspiring video I’ve ever seen for a new board. 😂

Was thinking the same thing! All he can find to say about it is how 'user friendly' it is. Looks like a total tub 😂

@@Lostin2024because he’s surfing it like a short board. Should have had someone who rides or knows how to surf a mid.
@Lostin202411 күн бұрын
@@charleshawk6668 you might be right but this dude can shred on a wooden door if he had to, so I don’t feel like it was the surfer. I think he genuinely wasn’t vibing with that particular board and it came across in the video. I’ve seen him surf other mid lengths, and it looked like he was born with that board attached to his feet. Finding someone that specializes in mid lengths and that style of surfing might’ve been the better idea, though.

@@Lostin2024 oh for sure. I can see a few spots where he made it shine, but it’s easy to miss and most people would miss it, in pertaining to a mid. I just think it deserves to be showed more as what it is.

Love the honesty in the vid mate. And not editing out all the fails. I’m a novice on longboards, but love doings off the tops (close out turns) - it’s all about the timings and when the wave allows.

This will be my perfect board. I"m 39 getting back into surfing and a big guy 193cm 100kg. I loved my 6'3" slab i had that for 7 years. Cant wait to order this board.

You guys took down the Mid-6 video, but I found it regardless. Compared to the surfing Kevin is able to do there, this looks pretty bad. The board looks super slow, in my opinion.

Looks like a beefed up Boss Up which I have in 7’2 and I’m stoked on how well it handles everything! Super fun with a twin + trailer in the small stuff and quad where it gets punchy. Can’t say the Long Rider inspires me much…
@charleshawk666812 күн бұрын
Looks like a good board. You can see it start to shine on the second session. Seems like he’s trying to surf it too much like short board. My FireWire Vacay needs to be replaced….this might be it.

So a less performance oriented Boss UP?

How to make a good short board surfer look average? Give him a mid length in small surf. Would prefer to see Taylor Jensen on this board .
@timreck553511 күн бұрын
Looks super fun, and Kev rips, but, obviously, it ain't no HI Mid 6....One thing that trips me out is why both the Boss Up and this Long Rider have such pinched pin tails which is usually something you would want for heavy juice and or size something these boards are not technically designed for. I have always found pointy tails makes going rail to rail in soft waves a little unpredictable and slower through turns especially when you have a lot of bulk forward. That said, and loving what " middy's" are doing for surfing, I definitely wouldn't mind trying either or both. In no rush though, with a nice quiver of Mid 6's which includes my new mini 6'8".....
@charleshawk666811 күн бұрын
Most “mids” are meant for bigger and better quality waves. The “you can surf it in anyway thing” is mumbo jumbo. You can, but they work better in waist+ better surf. I own 8 different mid lengths from across multiple companies and they light up in bigger and better surf. Edit: Schulz is a good surfer, but I think they should have picked someone who knows how to surf mid’s.
@timreck553511 күн бұрын
@@charleshawk6668 I think Kevin created a " middy" following after his Harley Ingleby mid 6 review ( a more entertaining review with better surfing and dialog) back when FireWire repped them. Now they are trying to ride that following with these new boards. He's just doing his job now instead of exploring something new.....

@@charleshawk6668 I would agree, a great mid that would work in subpar waves is probably a foamie xD

Kevin you only have "shortboard rippers mode". You need to watch some Torryn Martin or Devon Howard Vids before hopping on a middy mate!

A comparison between this and the larger sundays would be good, too. The lowrider still has a medium entry and exit rocker. Doesn't this suggest its not a super great paddler compared to a flatter rocker?

I owned a 7’0 and 7’3 Sunday. The larger sizes are too boaty. It holds the volume through out….even in the tail. I’d go no bigger than a 7’0 for the Sunday.

@@charleshawk6668 Thx Charles... I wonder how this one would be different to the Sunday for small waves.

@@Craig-t2gthink I’m going to pick up a long rider in the next couple of weeks in 7’0. I have a FireWire Vacay that I’ve had for 7 years and it needs to be replaced. Check out the Channel Islands M23. I have one of those in 6’8. Damn good board.
