If you can’t store a whole bunch of water for cleaning, consider a spray bottle. You can fill it with any kind of water, even snow melt, and use that for washing yourself as needed. You can also use it to wash off things like utensils, plates, pots, or just spray it onto your hands for a quick clean up.

Another thing: go with bar soap. It can be used for everything. Hand and body washing, clothes cleaning, cleaning your tools/utensils, anything you need soap for. The scraps can even be saved for use. Bar soap is easily portable, and lasts a long time. Bottles of liquid soap and shampoo can take up space needed for other things.

This is all a great idea. Because the time clock is now ticking down people. Get your houses in order now. Something is telling me it's all going down somewhere in between the 22 threw 24. No matter what happens I believe the black out and grid down will still happen. No matter what they blame it on ,everything will go down. Set your houses up now don't wait until your in the dark to do it. May God walk with us all. Good luck you all.

@lindawolffkashmir2768
@lindawolffkashmir2768 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, Chef Boyardee is a good idea to have, especially when it comes to children. In an SHTF situation, a kid’s world is going to be turned upside down. They are going to be exposed to a ton of new situations, new places, unfamiliar foods, etc.. A can of ravioli or beefaroni or Spaghetti-Os can offer them some normalcy in a trying time. It’s going to take a while for them to get used to a SHTF diet. Like usually, I really wouldn’t recommend storing ramen or things in bulky cans, but in the case of children having something they’ll usually eat, for that, I’d make an exception. The reason I’m not too hot on ramen, is it tends to go bad quicker than a lot of foods. The noodles will taste stale, and the seasoning pack will get hard, or even worse, pick up moisture. You can extend the life for awhile by packing it into a waterproof can, but after about a year, the taste really starts to fall off.

@@lindawolffkashmir2768 I've recently discovered a small soup pasta called acini de pepe. It's right in the aisle with all the pasta noodles. I'm playing with it as an alternative to ramen, which is bulky for GH/BOBs even when smashed up within the pkg (if you don't pop it open in the process). The acini de pepe offers 200 calories in a 1/4 cup. It's also compact, lightweight, and cooks fast. One can put together a nice nutritional soup if you put it in a zip loc snack size bag with a cube or packet of (bone) broth and a tablespoon spoon or 2 of nutritional yeast. A packet of gas station or taco bell hot sauce kicks up the heat, especially in a winter situation. Alternatively, a soy sauce packet gives it a different twist.

Yes, food and water. Extras of things you use in everyday life. And a mindset to go with these lines. - Rest pretty much depends on where you are, the environment, the age of your daughters - can they be of help already.... Resourcefulness - like all the previous generations lived by, thinking outside the box and using what you already have to your max benefit. It is not about the money, to get all the gadgets, it is about the ability to use what you have to the max if needed.

I remember the thing that got me thinking about prepping in the first place. It was some event at a previous job late 90s where you are put in a survival winter scenario (probably plane crash) and needed to put items in order of useability etc. andceether or not to shelter in place etc. Of course my score was abysmal but it got me thinking.
@wmluna381
@wmluna381 2 жыл бұрын
That was included in some business leadership class I attended about 5 years ago. It was probably the same content or format. I remember a plane crash being involved. I wasn't really interested in the group exercise to that end then, but I definitely would be now. ☺️ I would also be interested in seeing a prepper breaking that whole scenario down and seeing any updated recommendations or twists.

Another heads up video. I think that repetition of information is excellent. Just like redundancy in your bug out bags. Bug out bags aside. I think the most important things to have on hand, are the things that you accumulate in your own home. I believe that the safest place to be is in your own compound. Be carful of the weapons issue. You Tube blacked out part of your video when you were discussing personal defense. Thanks for your efforts and insight.

For me prepping is just part and parcel of life. It's how we grew up, the only thing I don't have is water set aside. Not something in this city we've ever run out of, even in the recent end of the universe drought. I would add a petrol generator to your list, means the fridge and freezer don't defrost.
@LilA-zl6tf
@LilA-zl6tf 2 жыл бұрын
Well, a petrol generator is great - as long as you have petrol, or whatever it runs on.... But that is not very handy in an apartment type of living. - I have always said, that in perfect world, I would have a grandma's cottage with a wooden stove, non-leaking roof, a bit of land around it and a surface water well. - Then I would be ok, come what may. No need for electricity or anything. - But - that's just me. 😉
@alpinealpine2793
@alpinealpine2793 2 жыл бұрын
@@LilA-zl6tf in an apartment it's so much harder, first of all the lack of space. As far as the generator in an apartment you would have to use a battery unit like the blue thing I can't remember the name of or a goal zero type. My dream has been to move back to the country on a reasonably sized property and be at least substantially self sufficient.
@LilA-zl6tf
@LilA-zl6tf 2 жыл бұрын
@@alpinealpine2793 I hope you'll get there. - When, for a long time, those cottage dwellers have been shown as "poor" and pitiful, now - that has a new spin. They had the easiest way to be self sufficient. Not wasting ENERGY. - We have lived this "cheap energy" era for so long, that almost no-one remembers the real cost of it (read whale fat and slavery)....

I agree with the drinking water and canned foods for #1 and #2. But for #3, I'd stock toilet paper. Most people are short on cash, so if the economy crashes tomorrow, water, canned foods, and toilet paper will be immediate needs, imo. #4 can be soap. Dawn Dish Soap can be used for a lot of cleaning situations, including hygiene. I've used Dawn for washing my hands, and for washing my hair. Soap bars are best for showers, or baths.

@LilA-zl6tf
@LilA-zl6tf 2 жыл бұрын
Salt - get salt. It is not too pricey - yet. Been working and sweating in rather warm places, I did get to appreciate salt tablets. But - the price for sodium (natrium) there was astronomical. 🤣 They are handy - and necessary - working in constant heat, but the normal sea salt is a lot cheaper. - Have to share a story.... Once, I found out that our next working voyage with the vessel was taking us from northern Europe to south W Africa. - It was January, and I went to a local pharmacy to buy some salt tablets for myself.... (just for the convenience of it, they were terribly pricey) - the pharmacist looked at me and told me, that yes, they do have those, but she has to ask the owner, if she could sell me any.... Well. She got the permission to sell, but she just had to - glancing outside - tell me, that I should not overdose. - It was bitch black, slushing, not really snowing, but not far either. - The funniest thing here was, that the pharmacy was just next to a grocery shop - where I could have bought salt in a faction of the price, and without any need for "permissions". 😉
