A dog showed up at the back of the property July 2021. I think she’s an American bulldog, but not sure. Moira reminds me of Sadie (we kept her, and no one was missing a dog nearby in my local Facebook page). Having a hard time still with Sadie, but not giving up. I have five other dogs that I take care of and they’re part of the family. These videos helps out considerably! Thank you very much Zack.

I didn’t make that comment to draw in so much hate to this comment section. All I meant was that it’s nice to see a trainer recognize the challenge that the adoptive dog owner go through. It’s not an easy walk in the park and preaching is very different from doing.

I see some negative comments, but I find this series comforting to watch. It's cool to see trainers that show videos of them conquering a reactive/untrained dog in seconds, but this video is VERY relatable for us non-dog trainers. It seems to be a series where people can actually see what is possible and that it is doable even by us with constant training.

@Apachita
@Apachita 7 ай бұрын
@t.s.7601 I know! He puts a muzzle on her to make it appear "untrained" and pulls and leans back to make her pull. And don't hold your breath on him training, let alone approaching, a reactive dog. It would sense his fear and insecurities and maul him. He doesn't train any dogs. He has no customers. None whatsoever. Obviously he borrowed Moira for this fake clickbait series. It boggles my mind that he ended up with so many subscribers. They definitely aren't real customers with testimonies. Could be purchased subscribers by his mega dogfood partners/promoters.

My dad never trained our dog at our other house, so when I went there, he was the same as Moira - a very big ball of energy with no boundaries. I just started to train him now, and it's extremely tiring to do so, especially when he has grown a year old and can't match up to his strength AND I never had a dog, he was my first. Seeing this, like other comments have mentioned, makes me feel like everyone EVENTUALLY struggles, even professionals. I just hope I have determination left at the end of the day :,)

Hi, i have the same exact situation. How are you doing with the doggo, did you manage to get some control over him? My family has been gifted a german shepherd that is super energetic, even more energetic than Moira in the video here. I love the dog, she's a massive goofball and not aggressive with people, she does get very excited when she sees the house dog that we have had before she came... Anyway that's the short version. I really want to get some control over her as I am the only one who can take her on walks and she pulls immensely, she's such a strong dog and only 1 year old. .

I also love how this shows that despite her bad habits, Moira is also really smart and has so much potential. People overlook that often in untrained high energy shelter dogs. This is gonna be a great series! Good to see you working with rescues, as people sometimes fall into old style training with rescues with behaviour problems. So many trainers use their own dogs and puppies to demonstrate which is great but a rescue with pre instilled bad habits presents training in a differnt way! I hope training adult and rescue dogs becomes a regular feature of your channel. I trained my rescue using your methods and she went from acting much like moira and reacting badly to every dog, squirel and cat to being one of the best trained dogs in the nieghborhood.

I’m so excited about this series, I think it is going to be so helpful for so many people. There’s so many videos using punishment and harmful devices to “train” reactive and excited dogs, I’m thankful people will be able to see how well positive reinforcement works instead. You can tell Moira is a sweetheart, she just needs someone to teach her how to act.

I'm so happy that I came across this video! Recently adopted a Great Dane (maybe a mix). This big boy is 2 years old and already has a mighty strength when I visited him. I am treating him as if he had not received any training before. Shelter found him as a stray along with his siblings. Seeing videos of untrained dogs that are not quite in the puppy to the young stage is helpful not only to me but other dog owners who may have adopted rescues.

I must admit I was a little bit disappointed that Moira didn't bark her head off at the other dogs, because that is the worst part of reactivity in my experience. It's so embarrassing and stressful especially if you're already awkward towards strangers yourself 😣

Yes same, my dog has a lot of the same behavior issues but including excessive barking at people and other dogs. He also has a lot of anxiety meeting new people and will defensively bite. I learned to not be embarassed of my dog's behavior even when people tells me something about the reactivity of my dog. The most important thing to me is my dog and improve his behavior, who cares about them. They probably just had easy dog, they don't know what it takes to train a reactive dog. It's hard and frustrating, but the most important thing is my dog, i don't care if people tells me that my dog is a bad dog or that I'm a bad owner, because I know it's not true. I used to have anxiety to walk my dog because of the people judging me and my dog. There's so many people that would have give away a reactive dog, and those people are probably the people that look at u weird when your dog bark it's head off. Don't be ashamed of your work, people don't know.

@@WatsonKedavra wow this made me smile. my dog has major anxiety with dogs when he’s on the leash and walking by them is pretty hard bc he always pulls and yells at them. he’s an olde english bulldogge and it sucks cuz i want him to be able to say hi to a dog without him pulling and yelling at them and making it look like he’s a crazy ass big dog that people should steer clear from :/ i know i’m working towards it but sometimes he’ll take five steps forwards and then it’ll happen again and it feels like we take thirteen steps backwards again. it sucks but i know he’s learning but yes it’s soo embarrassing to me but reading your comment really made sense and made me feel better. thank you

@@MultiLululover It's hard, it's really hard and frustrating. I've cried so many times. We just want the best for our dogs, it breaks me to see my dog being so scared of strangers. They only have us, we have to teach them that the world is not going to kill them when they're with us. Now I feel bad for being embarrassed of my dog's behaviour, they don't know any better, we have to teach them. I work with a really good dog trainer and things are getting better. Some days seems like he's never been trained and other he's an angel. They have good days and bad days just as we have. We have to keep going. I am so impressed, Zak, by your attitude! You are an optimist and you give so much thought and love to the dog, even though this first time is super difficult. It takes so much time, discipline, love, consistency, and PATIENCE! This video is so much more real than many dog training videos, which I've seen many of....And very helpful for many people having new dogs, and imagine those people being first time dog owners?! I've had dogs my whole life, and have just adopted a beautiful Husky mix which was in a kill shelter in Texas, and she made it all the way to Maine, so she is one lucky dog, and so am I....but first of all, she came to me with Heartworm, so we're now just getting a handle on that, and now, she can have more exercise, and what a puller on the leash. So, it just takes work/patience, and physical strength every day going out with her on a walk...Without my previous knowledge with other dogs, I would have been much more fearful and pessimistic....but we are truly making headway! I have had her now for six months and she is such a great girl! I just don't want to disappoint her, because her training with me is everything, and it takes a huge dedication....we can do it!
