I used to box 4-5 times a week. Our family has had a lot going on with losing jobs, losing loved ones, and over all just feeling down. I put my work out clothes on for the first time in about a year and a half. It’s my first time back on the bag in 2 years, and I’m excited to be back at the basics. Thanks for posting. Your videos are encouraging. ------ UPDATE To all those that shared love- thank you! 1 year later, and I’m doing really well! I ended up getting laid off again, but it was all good. I took that time to dig into work I needed to do to move forward with my family. I was at a bit of a crossroad which made me feel stuck. Additionally, It’s hard to find good gyms around where I live, and while I still love boxing, I ended up trying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I’m hooked. Been training 4x a week since last August! My family is moving about 2.5 hours away. We bought land and are building… we move in June. The new gym I’m going to has boxing, so I think it’s my time to bring it back into the rotation! I hope you all are doing well also 🫶🏼

My wife and I are going through a possible separation so I decided to get a bag and start boxing a bit. It's been really rewarding with my mental health and anxiety so far. I hit the bag an hour a day plus a jog when I'm done. Love it. Don't know if I'll ever go into a ring, probably not, but I love the body motion of it. 😅

Beginner Boxing Combinations 1. Jab, Cross, Jab, Jab, Cross 2. Jab, Jab, Cross to the body, Left Hook to head 3. Jab, Cross, Jab, Cross (really twist your hips for each punch)

My favorite combination is one that you taught, Tony. That would be the right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body. It always works at a shorter distance for me. Please, excuse my english, I am Brazilian. Congratulations on your work and all the success to you.

These combos are great! I’m a newly boxing/kickboxing coach and I’m trying to find and/or come up with some combos that are not too easy but also not so complicated for my classes. I might use these!

My favourite combination is 1-2-3 ( jab cross lead hook) with the lead hook alternating to the head and body. It's worked for me - probably mostly by luck. All the best for your travels Tony.
@marcd19812 жыл бұрын
For bag work, I like combinations with straight punches, uppercuts and hooks. I start with jabs, single, double and triple, then move into straight punches with both hands. Next is uppercuts (all adding to each other, so still jabbing and straight punching), followed by hooks. I also do all of my combinations from both the orthodox and southpaw stances, never only one side. This has helped me feel more comfortable sparring, moving between stances without really thinking about it. And you are more balanced between each side, which translates to other things outside of boxing.

These combos are great Tony! I just started boxing not long ago, but I'm working out of town a lot which makes it very hard to get into my gym regularly for the next while. This video gives me some great direction and combos to work on so I can keep improving until the next time I can get in to see my coach. It's actually made a huge difference for me! Thanks a million!

I’ve been realllly working on Mike Tyson’s left hook left uppercut in my combos. Also I pretty much warm my jab up for one whole round at the pace of thunderstruck. This helps me throw my jab a lot. For defence and 4-5 punch combos. Opponents seem to hate 4 jabs in a row. Lol 111,1123,1135 1111 Also the slap hook I’ve been really trying to work on. Maybe a video about that? Thanks Jeff

Badass. I have had good results (0losses) with x2jab, reverse punch. Not good with long stand up fights. One of these days I'm going to meet someone who can soak a few combos and level an attack. Hasn't happened yet. But I'm a little guy who doesn't appear to be a threat(till all one can see is my fists in their face). Love the simple instructions on this site. @@Tony_Jeffries I'd set it up usually by aiming for their body and once they start realizing "Oh wait he might be just aiming for my body" I put a jab there and hit them with a quick straight right and as you throw the straight right you can set up the lead uppercut by leaning towards the left and power punching and boom. They sleep
