That thing has more issues than a Disney+ show! That said, I had an agonizing high idle on my Triumph TR6. Rebuilt both Strombergs, still high. Balanced carbs, still high. Checked the mixtures, still high. Pulled them back off, just rechecked everything, put them back on and viola! No problem. Happy it’s fixed but annoyed that I have no idea how I fixed it.

Should go harder than that for sure-cant remember from previous vids whether you've done the fuel filter but if not I'd start there...I agree it sounds like a restriction of some sort, blocked muffler or cat (if it has one) maybe....anyway start with the simple stuff, very cool car thou love it cheers from Aus 👍

Mr h, did you change the coil when you did the ignition? Bad coils do strange things. Also lower voltage could rob 20% of spark energy also causing power problems. 14 volts should be the minimum

I seem to recall on the old cars, when the AC is turned on, it would rob the car of power...but I wouldn't expect it to be that bad. Maybe it needs a new fuel filter. Then again, according to google, the KE35 only had 54hp. However, I don't remember if yours has a stock engine or not.
@BlueLightning124 ай бұрын
Not having driven all that many 4 cylinder cars myself I don't know how much this will mean, but just googling the Corolla KE35 and AE86 and opening up their wikipedia pages to look up their respective weights, the KE35 with a 4-AG engine swapped into it... It's 115 kg, or about 250 lbs lighter than the AE86, and the AE86 from what little I know about the thing, since the 4-AG was also in the MR2 of that era... It should be a fairly zippy little thing. It's not gonna break any speed records but it should have some pretty good get up and go from a stop. The 4-AG is supposed to have somewhere around 120 to 140 hp, so for it to be responding like you were describing it Nate, it sounds to me like there might be some manner of loss of power between the engine and the wheels. So that leaves everything between the clutch to the differential. It sounded like you said the clutch was barely there in the video, so if anything I would start there and have the clutch/flywheel/transmission checked out. I say this as someone who owns a car that is also supposed to have upwards of about 140 hp, owning a 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT. It's actually an SE but the guy I bought it from more than a decade ago, their father bought it brand new in 1985, well, he special ordered it with all the GT options, including the WS6 sports suspension package. Now that thing is quick with its V6 in the back. It's not particularly fast in the long run, but it can climb the speedo given enough time and distance. I had to replace the clutch in it not long after I bought it cause of more or less exactly what you said in the video here, having to push the clutch down almost entirely to the floor to get any response out of it. That cost be about $2k, and that was, oh lord about 13, 14 or 15 years ago now? After that point just with regular fuel injector cleaner added to the gas and an oil change it completely changed the response time of the car for me. Hope this helps in some way, shape or form.

The ECU is still in open loop. You need to let it idle for 20 mins for a full reset, as I recall it's based on both the O2 and the transmission temp beaning in the normal before the ECU will permit you tho lean off the mix to the injectors. If there is no valid source for the lamda sensor(O2) it just will not happen, you are in the toymoter version of limp home mode, welcome to almost every RV6 land, I actually wrote to toymoter about this issue after diagnosing it in my mates shitbox they were like FFS please don't tell anyone about that and they didn't even offer me money or pizzas, WTF Toyhamster your a worry. Take it on the freeway and strap the nutsack out of it for a full remap. Toymoter ECUs map from rich to lean too preserve the hardware, they have an industrial background, they design gear to be reliable, you have to figure out how to unlock the magic Bruv.

You might have a missing water or transmission sensor back to the ECU that's not being satiated before it will go into closed loop and make it tune to perform HP.

Without knowing a ton about Japanese classics, it almost sounds like some of the behaviour is vacuum line related. As I know on american classics, if there's some vacuum leaks, it can result in high idle/rough running.

So was it actually a turbo timer or was it a fuel management system? Could explain the power loss if something funky is going on with the air fuel mixture. Also, start simple with a fuel system cleaner (with PEA) and and get the battery tested or replaced if needed.

No power? Should replace the existing one with a 4AGZE supercharger.. Move in to left hand side when braking? That means left side front brake gripped but not right side, maybe you check the brake line, calliper pump leaks maybe. Steering wobbly? That could be the steering box. Replace it with steering rack with power steering. Gear change problem...hmmm LSD maybe helps...
