Hi! Seasoned BIRTH DOULA here - I know yall don’t have a kitchen and are making do (and doing such a wonderful job), but I just want to let you know that it is NOT recommended to sanitize bottle parts after every use. I realize this might be happening because of no sink, but I’d suggest, since they should be washed in their own little tub anyway, getting a little wash rub for baby stuff and washing by hand in the bathroom and only sanitizing once a day. If you sanitize every single time it can decrease the natural microbiome the baby is getting from his environment as well as decrease the slow build up of his immunity by being exposed to (safe) microorganisms. I know it’s unsolicited advice, but just here to let you know and you can take it or leave it! Sending big, big hugs and am so proud of you and Romeo!

Here in the UK we clean and sterlise bottles after each feed. Don't just clean, it's definitely not enough for a newborn. Why take the risk, it's unnecessary. Newborns are so fragile and not worth potentially exposing them to anything. When they get sick it can be more serious so not worth it. Dummies to be put in the steriliser daily too. You're doing a great job MaCenna! X

I used Playtex nursers that had disposable plastic bags. I hardly ever used bottles and a good sterilizer is the dishwasher

​@kellyAI84 definitely a balance as young children need to activate their immune checkpoints to reduce risk of leukemia. Agree that probably best to err on the side of caution with babies, they get most of their microbiome from the vaginal canal and breast milk anyway

At least her job is "just" filming and cutting videos, all on her own schedule. She'll be fine. What's concerning is that hundreds of thousands of women in the US don't have guaranteed maternity leave.

I was out of the house a week after my second was born. It’s totally safe if you take is slow and listen to both baby’s needs and Mama’s needs. Fresh air and a walk helped wonders for my sanity too! 😂💕 Little Cade is perfect! So happy for you guys! 🫶

My daughter's midwife says for the first month she should be in the bed, by the bed or on the bed to heal post partum. Please rest & dont be so anxious to get back to full time work. Congrats on such a wonderful event!

Just a good advice. It's not healthy for baby hips to be so long in baby seat (max 1.5 hour) and than he should be streched on flat surface for at least half an hour. It also prevents baby from breathing correctly because he is so squished, that's why they sleep so good because they don't get enough air in their little lungs. For such long strolls he should be in the cot. (I'm sorry for mistakes, english is not my first language). I love watching you ❤

Becareful of the heat inside strollers. They are putting thermometers inside strollers and the temps have been in the high 90's . never knew myself. Young and and old get dehydrated fast.

I use to have a fan for my baby in his stroller, he seemed to be good…. He was a summer baby 4 days before Cade was born, they absolutely love the 90 degrees they feel like they are in the womb still.

Good idea. I used to cover my baby carrier with a blanket while transporting my baby. I was stopped by a nurse once and she told me to not cover the baby all the way because I could suffocate him. I was so shocked. I never thought of that. I know your stroller was not completely covered but the keeping track of the heat is wise.

​@@lfuentes4098 It's not suffocation. The baby won't have restricted oxygen. The problem is restricted airflow and the body overheating + hot moisture building up inside which makes the temperatures even worse on the body . That's why you shouldn't close windows during a heatwave.

I have a similar personality to you. I didn't stay home or sit either. Always keeping busy. Always on the move. Even with a c-section...I couldn't. All the feelings you shared are very similar to my feelings 17 years ago when I had my first. I went for walks to the park, around the mall, around the neighborhood because I just couldn't sit inside all day. You find your rhythm eventually. A schedule is forever changing with a child. The second you got one down they change up how much sleep they need or eat. Parenthood is about going with the flow and accepting you only have so much control haha. Enjoy!

Same! I was on an airplane with my firstborn when he was just 5 weeks old. I traveled between Santa Barbara (where I lived) & Portland, OR, where my family lived about once every 3 months. Having a child didn’t slow me down at all. Even after my 3rd son was born (I had 3 under 3), I still traveled, just with all 3. I think if you’re feeling well, then go do what you want (of course, keeping baby safe at all times). 😊

I think I realized quick that not sticking to a schedule or routine helped bc it made it easy to take our boys anywhere and they would adapt. They were so use to traveling (road trips over 24 hrs in the car) that they became resilient and so easy to deal with. Germs are unavoidable and it's good to get them out to build up their immune system.

Beautiful planter but I would be careful placing it directly on the wood. Iron reacts with the tannins in wood (like teak or oak) if it gets wet and will cause black spots. This can be removed but then you have to bleach the wood with oxalic acid, so better put a mat in between the planter and the wood. Really happy you're doing so well

Silly suggestion: Perhaps a good idea to remove the rust from the bottom of your "mom" planter and then seal the surface? The rust will bleed and stain anything it comes into contact with.

Here in Colombia, neither the baby or the mother leave the house before 40 days after born, we call it "la dieta". I think is too much, and younger generations are skiping this rule early.. but please take time for your recovery. Love little Cade!

Our pediatrician here in US said don’t expose him to the elements for 2 months. Also need to consider nursing/feeding schedule when planning things since they need to be fed every 1.5-2 hrs.

I’m Hispanic and in my culture we call it “la cuarentena” meaning 40 day indoor rest. Back in the day, moms weren’t allowed to even get up from their bed. I only stayed home and did a few things around the house. But nowadays, newly moms don’t stay home anymore after giving birth. I’m glad MaCenna is doing so well that she can get out of the house. I know it will help her mental health for sure. 💕

Another tip even though babies have a hard time regulating their body temp its easy to overdress him for outdoors in the heat. Dress him how you dress yourself. Short sleeves and lightweight shorts and socks if you keep it cool in you home.

I’m a great grandmother and I totally agree. Don’t over dress the baby. Dress him how you would dress. His body temp will get to high. I’ve never recommended new moms wear those slings or wraps to carry a baby. He has waited 9 months to get out of that tight space. Let him stretch and be free. He will do just fine if you let him. Don’t be over zealous in wanting to care for him. If he’s needs something he will let you know.

Be careful McKenna not to overdo it. I remember going out shopping after a 11 days after giving birth and I got sick, the doctor said I overdid it. Just saw a baby inspired hack you might find handy. If you want shade for baby outside, put him in a pack n play, then spread a crib sheet over the top - instant shade but you can still see him through the netting. (Wish I'd seem this when my son was a baby, but he's 51 now)

Benn watching you for a long long time since apartment and a earlier kitchen makeover, 5 plus years? Based on dates you gave on this video I believe Cade was born the day of my husbands passing. it's nice to realize on a day of great sadness there was someone else feeling great joy.
