I think you gained alot of respect after you start showing your routines in practice, not only because your form is improving, because sadly some people think if a gymnast’s form isnt perfect that theyre not working hard enough, when in reality its not true and It doesnt come as easy and natural to some gymnasts.
@9livesmatter6923 жыл бұрын
I agree! Mykayla has always had lovely lines but I can DEFINITELY see massive flexibility improvement. Those oversplits in all her leaps are especially lovely. Looks like the hard work is paying off!
@peachykeen7993 жыл бұрын
Ive always heard negative comments toward her for years, since I started to follow gymnastics like 4 or 5 years ago. Reading comments on KZbin videos from old meets. But, criticism is one thing however a lot of people who 'criticize' her are sooooooo vitriolic about it. Very nasty, never understood that. Im not someone who 'stans' people or is a fan of anybody in fact, so when I say Ive seen some really nasty stuff said about her I hope that gives my statement validation. What is hilarious is when she went to her Physical therapy doc and he states how naturally inflexible she is! Like apparently shockingly so to him. Hopefully the people who dislike her gymnastics see that and understand only so much is in her control. Ive always like Mykayla for her power-based gymnastics, when she came out into elite it was only her and Simone who were really, idk the terminology but throwing huge skills at that particular time, like 2014 times?. It was awesome to me. I admire both forms of gymnastics, the power-based athletes and the 'aesthetics?' based athletes too. Anyway, Im glad I see less vitriol thrown at her because it was always un-called for and people who are that passionate that they would say hateful things towards ANYONE over something that doesn't directly impact them in life needs to re-evaluate their values. lol /rant over

A lot of people were ragging on Mykayla on Reddit this week. But she's just so solid. Despite her past behaviour, she has really matured into a steady and hardworking young woman. If you watch the sessions on her channel closely, she mentors young gymnasts at her gym, she's always positive, she has a really strong and positive relationship with her coaches and a new marriage where it's obvious both of them deeply love and respect each other. Sure, her form isn't great, but she is doing the best with what God gave her. She's one of the most inflexible people I've ever seen, and it's truly not her fault. She's a gymnast. Of course she stretches and works on flexibility, but no amount of stretching will ever turn you into a ballerina if you're simply not built that way. So, she compensates for the inherent lack of artistry in her routines with difficulty, and excels in that regard. She's also an Olympic alternate, which proves that: yes, she is that good; yes, she is incredibly strong mentally; yes, she is capable of working incredibly hard. I commend her and I'm really rooting for her, in spite of the fact that so many think her gymnastics isn't that pretty. As a person, she continues to learn and grow, and that in itself is beautiful.

I did gymnastics for roughly 6 years, but lost my motivation due to unfortunate circumstances and personal issues so eventually I "retired" in 2019. About a year later i began to miss all the flips and tricks, so i started taking a recreational tumbling class once a week just for fun, but i didn't have the same "spark" i did back in my competitive days. However, when i started to follow your journey, i recognized that same spark within you and it's been pushing me to work harder, increase my days at the gym, and try new skills. You 100% deserve a spot on that olympic team, but at the end of the day, it's not about the medals or titles. It's about the effort you put in. So regardless of how this all plays out, you're already a champion:)

I'm rooting for you!! Such a hard worker. You deserve to go to the Olympics and win gold! Your form looks so much better and your handstands too. Right now I'm calculating ~ 1.8 in deductions for leg separations, short handstands, and flexed feet. I think some of those are inevitable but if you just clean up your toe on 1/1 before the dismount and stick it, that's 0.6 in deductions right there gone. I've been watching your beam progress and your leaps look much better! I think you'll have a very solid all around score at the trials. Don't forget what your strengths are - vault and floor. Capitalize on those! Especially dance elements in your floor routine where deductions come from. Know that your followers are rooting for you!!! Go Mykayla!
