✘ Laui -Good point. A respectful, supportive knowledgeable coach is a gem. The stories of emotional and physical abuse to “toughen up” the athletes make me so angry. You get SO much more out of your athletes with positive reinforcement coupled with consistent expectations than with punishments for things done wrong. Kind of reminds me of how horses do so much better in training with cookies than the whip. Not that gymnasts are horses or should be given cookies. Just that a pleasant rewarding experience will usually get more out of an athlete, just like a horse. IMHO, of course.
@mjamitche52454 жыл бұрын
@@maureenkelly738 I don't get why punishment or discipline should be needed in gymnastics. In America it's an expensive club sport and completely voluntary. If what coaches are asking is reasonable, you do it to get better. In 11 years there was only 1 thing I didn't do because I felt it was dangerous, but other than that I did what I was told. If the athlete is not behaving, the coach should call their parents and ask them to take their child home. I don't get why abuse is needed.

Fascinating video! Very cool to watch. It is worth saying, as a few others have mentioned, that while this would be an extremely high difficulty routine, a few gymnasts are already competing 6.5 d-score routines and they're still working upgrades as well, so it wouldn't literally be the hardest routine in the world. Also, the hardest possible routine isn't necessarily the smartest routine construction. I personally don't think having 9 D+ skills is worth it. One of the reasons Fan and Derwael and others score so well is that they pack in all the difficulty in as little time as possible, leaving fewer opportunities for deductions on things like cast handstands. I would probably take out the Church or the Weiler or something which would only cost you a tenth in difficulty and would probably be well worth it in avoiding deductions on that skill and leaving you enough energy to land the dismount cleanly. Of course, as your coach said, you can always make those changes later and have this crazy routine as a training goal. Anyway, I love how transparent you are with your training process! Really interesting and informative for fans to see. Be well!

That triple double scares me. I don't want you to hurt yourself! Right now it's looking like a 2 and 3/4 double
@easytoslip4 жыл бұрын
Triples always start like that. Will take a lot of energy to throw that at the end of such a packed routine, they know this. It's just cool even watching her train it, whether it's competed or not. Plus she's on two eight inch mats right now which means she gets more cushion on her landing but less time and room in the air.

Beckie and Suni are both playing around with 6.7 routines. This routine would definitely be extremely difficult, but it's untrue to say it's the hardest in the world that anyone's done.
