First Ice GIANT BROOK TROUT! Pennsylvania Ice Fishing 2022-2023

2022/2023 ice fishing has arrived! I managed to find some November ice here in Pennsylvania and was rewarded with tons of HUGE brook trout. The sight-fishing action was hot all day long and I even got some sick underwater eats with my GoPro.

🎣 there's no question about it here, All fantastic fish catching right there. Also nice sizes too. Just wondering what part of Pennsylvania are you in, that's just crazy right there. regardless if the trout is "stocked" or not brother big brook trout should be treated with respect. The big breeders that you were targeting concentrate from the entire lake where they have safety to run into the shallows to breed during the late fall and early winter, those ones should not be the ones you target or keep usually you want to target the mid sized fish to keep allowing those fish to breed. even in the lakes where they don't naturally reproduce they don't get big overnight and someone else like a kid or veteran could catch it if you let the big breeders go as they live for years. you have the right to keep them as long as it is within legal right to do so.

These fish can’t reproduce or even attempt to reproduce as they’re always caught out beforehand. This lake is stocked with plenty of fish every year, giving kids plenty of opportunities to catch nice sized fish. The fish I kept were average size as well. They’re nice fish, but the breeders in there were much bigger.
