He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book kzbin.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.

All the dogs I’ve had in life were an adult and elders, they were easy going. Calm and quiet. But man, the puppy I got was a huge energy consumer. I’ve only had her about a week and a half. teaching her name is still unsuccessful, teaching her to sit has been easier, potty train his going half bad and half good.

do a video with a 9-10 week old puppy - a very different experience especially on the first days. they have to go into the crate and may not be trained to go in yet and they will cry and resist
@ojojojojojoje3 жыл бұрын
She did describe what it looks like in that case - you need to count with it taking time (a LOT of time) and not start training when you already need it to be functional. If the puppy does not want to be in it day one, you can use a play pen around it to make it feel less confined. If your animal is crying and resisting, it's a sing you're moving the training too fast and need to make smaller steps :)

Rachel, thank you so much. Getting my Bordoodle at the end of the month. This is my first non-rescue, but I will financially support saving all the damn dogs. You are helping my confidence about getting a new puppy. We’re in our 50s and still heartbroken over our elderly rescue dog’s passing this past summer but having no dog is too sad in the house. To all who rescue, my deep respect. Not everyone can or should do it. I know the hardship and the rewards. ❤️

Thank you SOOOO MUCH for the visual training. I found a Pug which turned out to be a Puggle on Christmas Eve 2020 and much to my surprise, when I got the kennel the next day he was already trained! And...house trained! I put up flyers everywhere (he had no coller) and finally someone answered only to tell me it was their neighbors dog (about 3 houses down from where I found him) and they had moved and left the dog so he spent many, many lonely nights outside the empty house waiting for them to come back. I haven't gotten to a vet yet but I really doubt he's had any shots or anything. My BIGGEST questions (Gosh I have so many,) is...do you use the crate throughout the day (I don't use mine for discipline I only use it for when I leave or when I know he's tired and automatically goes in.) And so I'm not sure because I've gotten different opinions off different youtube videos on, rather or not he should be put in the kennel AT ALL when I'm indeed home and in sight, as long as he goes in there on his own. I've already noticed I have a tendency to close the kennel when he's in it, of course praising him or giving him a treat for going in on his own, and I'll take advantage of the moment and fold clothes or something, STILL in his sight, but then when I leave I leave him in the kennel and I'm told he whines a bit and my dad will have to talk to him or something which quickly ends the whining and/or seemingly sad feelings he has until I return. Right now, one of the current challeneges is getting the house cat used to him. He seems to pose no risk to the cat, if anything he may be a little scared of her but the first couple of times he barked or went to chase her BUT NOW he'll be lying down and she can walk right by and he just closes his eyes and seems absolutely relaxed, no more barking and no more chasing. But I'm still trying to get the cat and him to get along and TBH, it seems the cat has the issues, not the dog. She has yet to discover that from the top couple of tiers on her cat tree, she's out of the dog's reach. Her immediate response is to run. Last night for the first time, I did not realize the cat was out and of course the puggle was following me from one room to the other and we passed the spare bedroom door frame, where she happened to be. Her back hair went up, he stopped suddenly. I gave him a SIT command, and he did so, the cat also calmed down and relaxed and laid down, seemingly following that SIT command as well (yeah right, a cat follow a command haha I know, I know) but the point was they were only about a foot and a half away and nothing bad happened. Then I kept walking to my room and sure enough the dog followed. I'm going to check out your channel to find out more about the bubble-lookin toys you mentioned in this video and anything you may have in the way of normalizing a cat with a pup being around. If you, or anyone, has sound advice, tried and true, about putting your pup in the kennel throughout the day as a means to let him relax while you clean the house or fold laundry or whatever, is this okay or should the kennel be only used for night time/sleep and when I am away from home?

Hello! I just discovered your videos and I am in a desperate spot. Two days ago my partner and I participated in a rescue mission for a pup. We were told he was 2 years old and just depressed. What fell into our laps is a 9ish month old emaciated, tramatized bordercollie-red heeler mix. I will be reaching out to a "professional" soon but I like your videos so much that I thought I would pose this challenge to you first. He isn't familar with toys and is so starved that food training isn't an option, I don't want him to ever be afraid that he won't get everything he needs. He was definetly kept in a crate by his previous "guardian" so he is naturally scared. This was a completly unexpected rescue, the gal whI transitioned him planned on keeping him longer but just couldn't handle all of his needs. I've trained at least half a dozen dogs in my life and this is my 3rd foster, but I really can't get through to this guy. My question is this: how do I train him when he doesnt seem to make any sense of verbal command, toy or treat training? Thank you in advance even just for yout ime in reading this and thank you for your great videos and inspiration!!!

Thank you so much for these videos. I'm preparing for a new puppy and your advice has been tremendously helpful. I have two questions: 1. Rather than putting the crate near our bed upstairs and gradually moving it to where it will eventually go, I was thinking that I would put the crate in its permanent spot in the family room/kitchen and sleep on the couch for the first few nights - in other words, weaning off being near me at night by moving away from the crate myself rather, than moving the crate away from me. Would this create issues that I'm not considering? 2. I intend to follow the "setting the alarm" suggestion for nighttime potty training. What's your thought about diapers at night so that, in the likely event that she goes in the crate despite my efforts, I can return her to a dry crate. My thought is that changing the diaper would be less activity than changing the bedding.

My dog loves his crate. Has had it all his life, sometimes I’ll have him in the bigger one just because. But if he isn’t crated every single night, he goes off. Tell him to go to bed, fine. Start setting up the crate w newspaper n a pet bed or mini pillow, he’ll walk right in like ooh where we going. Put him there for the night and leave? He’s going off. It sucks, but I felt I should mention it. Consistency is key. He’s used to sleeping in the bed with me most nights, knowing he’ll be in the crate if we go out, but hates being left there at night if he thinks he’ll be alone. If I move the crate right by my bed he will be quiet and start snoring like an old man lmao. I’ve had my yorkiepoo for his entire life. A little over 9 years. He does have seperation anxiety, which I found out about when I went to college. Needless to say. I’m at my moms house for Christmas, I’ll be moving him from Downstairs to upstairs by the bed tonight. Don’t have time for all that. He pottied a few times, had a midnight snac and drink. Some extra cuddle time and belly rubs. He’s crying like a bitch because he knows there’s still people in the house not by him. It’s ridiculous but a spoiled trait for sure. Consistency is key yall! He’s staying in the crate tonight but I’ll put him by the bed with me in the spare room. 🤦🏾♀️

Crating my dog during daily chores really helped with keeping crate training consistent. I did always give them a treat before hand to so they had something to do while I did chores and had no issues. Actually, it trained my dogs to be tolerant of the vacuum. As long as there was a barrier like the crate (even with the door open) and the couch.

You don't want to reenforce crying and barking when you're not around. Instead wait for the moment your puppy stops and come in and reward. Then your puppy will learn it's okay to be alone and that you encouraged it. Remember not to make it a big deal when you're leaving and returning too. Best wishes to you and your puppy!

Coming back to this post in case anyone is checking ... letting my puppy just cry through it didn't quite work for me. What did was to have his crate next to me and petting him but not taking him out. Once he settled in with the pets, I'd just keep my hand next to the door for him to smell it. After that, it was just me being in the same room with him (for 2-3 nights). He now sleeps in the living room while I'm in the bedroom. I also leave music for him on for 1-2 hours after lights out just to settle him in to sleep and not having me around. This works pretty well. Sometimes he wakes up at about 2-3 in the morning and I manage to settle him within 10 minutes or so. Sometimes he sleeps through the night.

I have saved 45 videos all about looking after a dog, I have had some dogs when I was younger and I do now but I’m going to move in with my best friend in about maybe 6 years and I haven’t owned a dog just a family dog and I’m getting a French bulldog, I LOVE your videos!!
