Something tells me it's like comparing WW2 soldiers with Vietnam era ones; first were numerous and their equipment was cheaper but overall less advanced, the later were advanced 30+ years but they did not engage in large ("large" I mean "million manpower strenght") formations. Same goes with Imperial and First Order troops - first were serving in "total war" scenario, later were using more advanced tech but engaged in lesser numbers

There wasn't that much of a difference between a 'Nam and a WWII soldier's equipment until the M16 became the main rifle. Hell some US troops still used WWII weapons in nam, especially the ones attached to Vietnamese regiments.

That Silver stormtrooper (captain phasma) was such a cool design. Reminded me of the Sith trooper from KOTOR. I just really thought they wasted her (the silver captain) in Episode 7. We get the impression that she is such a badass. And then she is so quickly captured by Han and Finn, and made to help the resistance X-wings to attack starkiller base. I had thought she would rather die than help.

To be fair she's probably the only stromtrooper out there who can really gauge the strength of her enemies. She can see how they are protected by the finest plot armour money can buy and knows that resistance is futile.

You guys are over thinking it. It was because Luke Skywalk was still a kid in Ep. 4. He couldn't fit properly in the Stormtrooper uniform. The helmet didn't fit right. Princess Leia "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" Luke Skywalker "Uh? Oh, the uniform!" And that's another thing...in Ep.4 - It's a uniform not armor.

If I remember correctly, one thing that Stormtrooper armor was capable of was allowing the trooper to survive the vacuum of space, thanks in part to their airtight undersuits and helmet respiratory system, but only for a limited time. It was in a farley reliable source of cannon that I read it, but forgot exactly where.

Clone troopers were augmented since their earliest stages to have better lungs and better stamina and even augmented pyschological abilities. If they were given the same amor and weapons they would crush them.

1:41 It's training REGIMEN, not "regiment". Also, you say that First Order stormtroopers have the ability to treat colleagues in the field, yet we see maybe two soldiers with backpacks, so I'm not sure where that medkit would be with regard to the rest.

Viguier89 I don't know for sure but I'd assume NCOs are kidnapped children but anyone ranking above that like Hux and probably down to LT or its equivalent are volunteers but again idk

It's possible that this was the case, when you consider that most of the officers, technicians etc. all appear quite young in TFA.

Viguier89 The First Order controls hundreds, maybe even thousands of planets in the outer rim. A lot of officers are either former Empire officers or kids of officers from the Empire (Like General Hux for example). Some could have been kidnapped however.

It says in the visual dictionary that all the First Order Officers and crew members you see on the ships are enlisted from inbuilt ship Academies. It's only the Stormtroopers and TIE Pilots that are taken from Birth. I personally think the Troopers are taken from the thousands of Imperial Families/First Order families.

Nah, the Clones are too awesome to be hated. Storm troopers are a joke and canon fodder, while the first order troopers are better but don't have the massive army that the empire did. The Clones were so skilled and badass that they were even able to kill Jedi head on. Hell the droids are even superior compared to both the first order and empire.

About 2 years ago I thought clones were the greatest thing to ever bless star wars but now today I am getting sick of hearing about them I mean like they are nothing but muscle and slaves for the republic that you see get killed off by droids more often then the storm troopers. And can someone explain to me how clone trooper armor is better the storm trooper armor? Through out the clone wars you see clones get killed off alot just by one blaster bolt wearing both phase 1 and 2 clone trooper armor while when we see storm troopers get hit by a blaster bolt and survive due to the bodysuit under there armor. I know that alot of clones have survived being hit by blaster bolts like captain Rex, commander Thorn and so on but the majority of non essential clones get killed by one blaster bolt.

The Bodysuit underneath storm trooper armor protects them from blaster bolts but incapacitates the trooper. And I could care less about the looks of the armor, at least with storm trooper armor you would still be alive.

Unknown Person Somewhat yes, but there is a theory that the storm troopers in Episode IV were not trying to kill Luke and Han, simply force them into a trap so they could be interrogated. They nearly succeeded in this by forcing Han into a hangar filled with troops, but they were too slow and Han managed to escape. Edit: Not actually a theory, this has been proven.

That's not a theory, it's a fact. The very next scene after their escape is Leia practically turning to the camera and saying "They let us escape" the scene after THAT is Vader practically turning to the screen and saying "I let them escape so they would lead me to rebel HQ." It is literally in the movie. Vader wanted them to free the princess and escape so he could follow them which they would be unable to do if the first squad they ran into gunned them down. The fact that the stormtroopers were able to make it look like they were actually trying while intentionally missing is a credit to their insane accuracy and skill. At this point that whole "Stormtroopers can't shoot" is practically a litmus test to tell real fans who actually watched the movie from idiots who like to repeat memes they found online to look like they have a clue.

TL:DR: in this video exposé... First Order troopers look like fkn toys with their stupid helmets and idiot little-kid friendly looking weapon designs and are idiotic compared to Imperial Stormtroopers that aren't actually an upgrade to the Imperial troops but rather a toyish looking groups of idiots (led by Captain Phasma who had zero balls and single handedly let the Resistance finish the Episode 4 rip-off movie in a decidedly EPIV manner.) Even the simplest thing as the pad on the shoulder is reduced to a cheap plastic add-on. P.S. If it isn't obvious they look like toys on purpose to more easily sell toys because profit is the only thing Disney cares about, not story.

I think the Imperial stormtrooper wins in this fight, although the First Order stormtrooper had better gear, the imperial stormtrooper can just easily blast the First Order stormtrooper, because they're trained elites. Plus if they got shot, they will later get up and live to fight another day unlike the First Order.

Alexander Bilstien yes they were due to the empire's antialien policy but when grand admiral thrawn became a grand admiral in the empire then he got some aliens to join the military since thrawn is a super evolved human from another world and technically allowed aliens to join the empire which some did but not all of the aliens joined.
