Ricki Lee was an Australian idol contestant. She didn't win but was always great. She had a really powerful voice. She ended up being a host on later aus idol series and interviewing new contestants. I think she might have been on idol the same year as Guy Sebastian.

Another totally underrated Aussie singer. She was on Australian Idol and unless you won you really went into oblivion for a while. She is working on radio as an announcer. That voice should be heard around the World as a singer. Not a radio jock.

Some great female singers here in Aus, some also great songwriters. My favorites in order are Dami Im, Katy Steele, Karise Eden, Rachael Leahcar. Plenty of others but these for me have the best combination of Tone, phrasing and Artistry. All also write thier own music to varying degrees.

I love Ricki Lee and she is very deserving of the praise and adulation. I do ask that you shine a light on Vanessa Amorosi and the songs she has written etc… recent stuff like, Recorded in isolation, Mohammed, My problem is you. Or songs performed at the Sydney 2000 Olympics like Hero’s or Absolutely Everyone. Or other covers like Janis Joplin, piece of my heart. This girl can sing the phone book and make it sound awesome.

After I got to the filming rounds of Australian Idol, I was unfortunate enough to have to go directly after her and heard her through the door while I waited to go next... I'd competed against her a few times and had no chance haha but personally she is a lovely girl. I was just like... OMFG don't put Ricki-Lee directly before me for filming rounds hahaha. She's just too good and is a very, very nice girl.

A lot of (in my opinion) better singers get eliminated early in things like Australian idol and The Voice because they don’t have main stream voices. Which from a immediate stand out successful point I can understand. But so many that (in my opinion again) have more longevity and are the creatives get cut because the voters/judges don’t want to play the long game and they want what is popular in that moment. You have exceptions of course that are both popular in the moment and also have longevity like Guy Sebastian. But treasures like Ricki Lee are lost. Thank you so much for your reaction loved it!! 💛✨

What i love about Ricki is that she is self taught she never got singing lessons or anything that's something that inspires me about her! Love her Fear & freedom album aswell! On my own is also my favourite song of hers by far! You might recognise her voice before from the sex and the city 2 song Cant touch it , shes also one of those ppl i recognised and heard of before without knowing her name

Riki Lee is an amazing artist, who like numerous Aussies with talent, they are somehow held back from local and global recognition of their musical prowess by some negative and unexplainable source until one day the bubble bursts and suddenly the world wants to know who is John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Vanessa Amorosi, Cold Chisel, Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem & Gurrumul singing ‘Bayini’ (a song of Indigenous beauty) and many, many more?
