Catching Up With The Walkers

Күн бұрын

Today we celebrate Labor Day with family by preparing a couple recipes. We haven't made sausage balls in so long but we look back at when Cassie discovered she was pregnant.. The first sign was sausage balls! We catch up on all the animals and finish the day with a beautiful bike ride. Thanks for watching and God Bless!

I have a mixer story. I was making cookies for my husband, the cookie monster. Well, he came into the house just as my old mixer was giving up. He panicked, and rushed out and bought me a new Kitchenaide stand mixer. That was almost 40 years ago and I still have the same one. I don't use it as much as I did before he passed away, but it's here when I need it. Love and prayers to you all, from NC. ❤🙏

Yes I have a story. I have 7 kids and with last 3 (twins and a single) I couldn't cope with the smell of meat, raw or cooked. If I had to walk past a butchers or a meat counter I would start heaving and if I didn't rush away I would literally be sick on the spot. My youngest is 21 tomorrow, I did used to be able to eat meat up until 10 years ago but since I smoking I can't hack the consistency for some reason, I can eat bacon but I have to have it crispy with loads of brown sauce on it. ❤❤. Xx

My daughter used to have a llama & pony. Once when I was filling the hay thingy between them, I turned to Bunny to say hi just as she decided to spit at Snickers. She spit a wad directly into my mouth! 🤢

You are not weird because you like to be out with the animals. As a young girl I spent 90% at my neighbors horse and dairy farm. I really liked working the barn and in the fields. I hated to my bed, which was a feather bed and told mom not to make it because I had it just right. I disliked working in the house , dusting, sweeping and picking up. My mother always said I could clean a horse stall perfectly and could not be bothered cleaning the house. Statement was very true. I never learned to cook until I was married, Today I still don't like house work, but I do love to cook. So Cassie you are not weird, I sure there are a lot of us out here.

When I was a kid & later as a mom & grandma, I spent as much time as possible outdoors with my kids & animals on our mini farm. Now I live in an apartment with no animals. Some days I don't even step foot out the door. Without my animals or even a clothes line, there's no reason to go out. I really miss my animals! Especially my dogs. 😢💔

@@marydoseck6242 I lived in an apartment for 7 years, and finally moved into a house. I do have two cats that are 11 years old and a dog who is 4. They keep me going. I had the cats when I lived in the apartment but not my dog. I also raised tomatoes in containers. I am now 80 and try to garden . I wish I could walk like I did several years ago, but now my body is not as willing. You should go out the front door to at least get fresh air. Its to bad we don't live in the area, we could have some talks. Take care Mary.

Cassie, my husband and I had been married for 9 years. I began taking night classes at the local high school. I started craving Cokes, but every time I got one and drank some of it, I would immediately get sick and throw it back up. I took 3 pregnancy tests to make sure I really was pregnant. I had a new doctor on my first visit to say you're not pregnant in my office until I say you're pregnant. I never went back to that one! I had 2 daughters. Now, I have 3 grandkids. I have Tyler, Addie -aka Bonnie and Clyde and Ava Grace. God bless you all!

I like Cassie's sausage ball story. I could see that coming. 🙂 My story is, when I walked into a grocery store to grab one or two items, I walked into the produce section and immediately got sick to my stomach. The smells were overwhelming! I knew right then that I must be pregnant, and sure enough I was. My dear husband died many years ago, but I have our two wonderful daughters, now adults with children of their own (my four sweet grands!). 🥰

When my grandparents got married my grandmother told my grandpa that she couldn't cook. So for their first few weeks together grandpa did all of the cooking. Grandma's sister spilled the beans and Grandma had to own up to her cooking ability. Grandpa believed her first story as grandma grew up as a Tom boy with her older brothers out working the livestock on horseback in Texas on greatgranddaddy's 1000 acre ranch.😅

Time to teach Ranger and Mazzy to cook and bake so that when they go off on thier own they can do more than "burn water"; you cant burn water but you can melt a pot a boiled dry. Drop biscuits from scratch are a good start as theybzrs inexpensive and can be rescued if burnt (cut the burned spots off) or under done (splitvopen and use microwave, broiler, or oven). They can be made by cutting in a hard fat, using melted butter, or an oil; there are recipies put there for each.

I too got sick with my first child. But It was different than when I got sick before. So I went to Urgent Care. My mother-in-law took me. My sister-in-law had recently terminated her pregnancy. My mother-in-law was still quite upset over that at that point. When i got to the car I said "You'll never guess what's wrong with me" I showed her the paper with the diagnosis, she jumps out of the car grabbed me in a bear hug and jumps up and down then stops suddenly looks at me with shear terror in her face and ask me if I plan to terminate it too. I said i wasn't. She so so wanted to be a "Granny" the jumping bear hug resumed. It was comical I still chuckle at the thought nearly 40 years later

Cassie, similar story but not when my husband was cooking. My mom,and sister took me out to breakfast at Shoney's restaurant one morning in Florida. As I was drinking my coffee, the waitress placed my plate of food (eggs, bacon, and fruit) in front of me. I excused myself, ran to the restroom, and threw up. The smell of the food sitting directly in front of me made me sick. After washing up, I came back to the table green looking. My mom immediately noticed how green I looked and said your pregnant. The next day, the doctor confirmed I was pregnant. Sometimes the smell of certain foods will make you sick if your pregnant.

Cassie I’m not a great cook and I’m not a great house keeper. I am the mother of 3 now all grown unfortunately one passed away from cancer in 2021. I cooked when they were all young when they were teenagers my cooking slowed down. My kids all had to move back home because they have health issues. Now we all fix our own meals. Love watching your videos ❤️❤️

Lol…the cheese and corn flakes dish is called either wedding casserole or funeral casserole depending on what it’s for! Lol….I just made it for our ParkLabor Day party!

Cassy , I understand how you feel about housework! I would rathe be outside in the garden weeding than doing housework. I do cook, I love feeding people! But if I am not cooking or gardening, I sure wish somebody other than me is doing that blasted housework. I take care of the animals too, and help butchering and do most of the canning. My getting sick was on my job, working at the cannery with apples an pears,, taking the bad ones off cutting any with spots and removing leaves and gravel off the line befor it could get in the juicer. It made me so sick, that I ened up not finnishing the season. I was pregnant with my first.

Glad the kids enjoy bike riding. Yep, the long sleeves and pants make you sweaty , but its much better than having "road rash" when you wipe out on a curve or hit a jump wrong.😛 Bikes. 🚴‍♂️Best way to enjoy an evening and natures beauty 😃👍🌅 ❤️

We call that casserole Cheesy Potatoes. Try a container of French onion chip dip in place of the sour cream. It adds just a little special taste to it! If you try it that way people will say, yours is SO good! Love that sausage ball recipe, will definitely try it. Thank you!

With 40+ yrs of Kitchenaid mixer use I suggest you use the flat beater instead of the dough hook, it'll mix better. It was behind the mixer with the stainless whip. Flat beater for most things, dough hook for kneading yeast doughs, whip for adding air like when you want meringue. That's a basic explanation for the different attachments. Blessings Jan

Your recipes looked so good. Maybe put them on your community page of YT. Ranger, you go ahead and get taller than your parents. It is awesome how much you have grown up, you are truly the best big brother, do not change Ranger. Nothing wrong with the man of the house cooking, I love it. Especially when it came to grilling. My husband was a great griller too.

I love to cook. I have a stand mixer and never use it. When I bake, I do everything by hand. I have a hand mixer and I use it when I make mashed potatoes and any time I use cream cheese. I can’t get cream cheese smooth enough by hand. I agree that you have to use Philadelphia cream cheese. No off brands allowed, they are not the same. Tell Ranger it’s not always great to be tall. My son is 6’4”. He can not find pants and shoes in the stores. He has to order everything online.

I actually killed my first kichen aid mixer. For 20 some yrars I did a lot of baking at Thanksgiving and Christmas I used 100 pounds of flour in my holiday baking alone. It's something I love doing. I called KitchenAid. Explained what was happening with the mixer. At the time I got my first one they switched to nylon(?) gears. They didn't last. I more than got my money's veorth. I replaced it with va Pro model snd love it. To keep from making a mess, start mixing on a slow speed afier adding liquids you can go faster and not make a mess

Yum. Looks so good. One thing you have to have a mixer for is homemade Pimento Cheese. You just can't get it creamy enough without one. We love making pimento cheese. Just don't like it chunky.

Sir Gary - Spend the $5-$25 on a 1 Tablespoon sized, spring with levers/ handles used as levers, ice cream or cookie scoop. They come in a wide variety of sizes any more and often in sets containing multiple sizes. You think youndont really need them and you sorta, kinda don't; alternatively you just formmthe balls by rolling them in your hands. But...just like in the garage, having the right tools saves sooo much time and effort.

I don’t think too many people like to clean house but it has to be done. Some like to cook. Gary was correct he likes to eat so that’s why he cooks. Gary you are a great guy. My first pregnancy sausage, pizza and butter made me sick. My second pregnancy 18 years later fried chicken made me sick.

I was fortunate to not have morning sickness. Somehow with my first one I learned I couldn’t have liquids before having solid food. Not even a throat lozenge. So, I stuck with that for all 5. Food cravings were different. With my 2nd one I craved Chinese food. My mom and I drove my Navy husband back to his base when he couldn’t get a flight. I was expecting my 3rd baby. Mom remembered the Chinese food so on our way back she stopped at a Chinese restaurant. She ordered a lot of food. She wasn’t too happy with me when all I wanted was milk. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤭🤭
