@doubledroptinehunter2 жыл бұрын
My father-in-law had a black lab and one day he found a groundhog (one of the largest I ever seen) up close to the house and chased it up a tree. I didn't know they could climb, but this one did to get away from the lab. Somehow this lab got ahold of that groundhog about 4-5 feet off the ground and that was the end of that. I don't know how big this lab was exactly, but I'd guess he was between 120-140 lbs. Very large, very overweight but always active.

Good call on deciding not to push further and just setting up by the beans. I've many times had a plan going into a hunt that ended up getting scrapped due to circumstances changing. I stopped planning and started just going with the flow (reading sign, wind, time of day, etc). Best to follow your gut instinct and this shows you made the right call. Having a nice buck come straight under your stand is promising for a first hunt and an altered one at that.

Nice update Bill. Juts a note here, make sure when you use a bolt for a pin that it is one that has a higher shearing strength rating, or better yet you can mostly like find an after market pin (you probably know this already) - can be frustrating when you're in the middle of something and the smallest thing brings everything to a halt lol. Anyway, looks like you've got some action coming your way. Here in eastern KY things are ramping up, they are putting down a lot of rubs & scraps, but we need a front to come through and drop these temperatures - so we shall see...best of luck to everyone!

I know some guys really want the sound on their quad to be loud like a tractor but we have had a lot of success with welding a car muffler with a quick connect union to our four wheelers and it makes them really quiet. Great for the times you hunt vs just pulling cards or working. Good stuff winks as always!
@bill-winke2 жыл бұрын
Aaron, that is a great tip. There used to be a company making systems to quiet four wheelers. I would want the quietest one I could get. I did request some electric vehicles (Tuore V) to play with. They are supposed to be arriving today. Those should be pretty cool and would be really handy in some situations. Good luck.
@AaronLaw7772 жыл бұрын
@@bill-winke yea, we found that doubling up on car mufflers makes them quieter than the drive train itself of the quad. And under 100 dollars. Those from the company were never really quiet enough. Hope the next three weeks is great for you all! The best time of year! Have fun!
