This was the first Bee Gees song I heard. FANNY BE TENDER was another of the hits from the same album and definitely reaction worthy. 💙

The song's rhythm was modelled after the sound their car made crossing the Julia Tuttle Causeway each day from Biscayne Bay to Criteria Studios in Miami. Origins and recording The song was originally called "Drive Talking".According to Maurice, while hearing this rhythmic sound, "Barry didn't notice that he's going 'Ji-Ji Jive Talkin' ', thinking of the dance, 'You dance with your eyes'.."We played it to.[producer] Arif [Mardin], and he went 'Do you know what "Jive Talkin'" means?' And we said 'Well yeah, it's, ya know, you're dancing.' And he says 'No, it's a black expression for bullshitting.' And we went 'Oh, really?!? Jive talkin', you're telling me lies...' and changed it."

Love your intellect... you grab onto "what does jive talking mean". Smart man. "Jive Talking" means to talk in a slang, unserious, or deceptive way. As a term it originates in the 1930's in Harlem.

the story is that they were recording in ny, and that to get back and forth from the studio, they had to cross a bridge. if they hit the bridge at a certain speed, it produced the sound they used as the opening riff.

Maurice Gib thought Jive Talking was about dancing, but Jive Talking was actually slang for LYING, the guys wrote the lyrics to match, with a catchy chorus and catchy beat,the song was No1 on the billboard, Bee Gees never disappoint! Great reaction thanks 🙏

The Bee Gees made a song that I'm sure you've heard but you didn't know they sang it. It's called "STAYING ALIVE". It's probably the most popular song they've created. Most young people who hear this song are shocked that it's not a black artist who sang it.
