When I was 17 living in Sacramento California, a good friend of mine owned a music store, called skips music and we hang out and Eric the lead singer for Mr.Big would come into the music store. He was just a a kid basically to me and he would sing in the music store and I knew he would be something someday and I’m so glad he got to live his career. I’m now 71 years old.

Two ex members of this group now play in a band called The Winery Dogs. The guitarist and singer (Ritchie Kotzen) and the bassist Billy Sheehan were both in Mr. big. Ritchie also played in Poison. Check out The Winery Dogs - Elevate.

Mr. Big is a Super Band! All of the are well known. Like the lead guitar Paul Gilbert is one of the guitar gods, I think he was in the guiness as one of the fastest shredder. Base player Billy Sheehan is a base legend. Pat Torpey also a well known drummer RIP, and Eric Martin❤ amazing vocals... Hope you listen to more of them

When he was in Dave's band they covered "Shyboy", which is a song from Talas, a band that Billy Sheehan was in, before Mr.Big. Y'all might check out "Just Like Paradise", first. Another great reaction! This a a awesome band! All top-notch musicians! I have been listening to Billy Sheehan since I was in high school growing up just north of Buffalo, NY. I used to see him play with his band Talas in local nightclubs. One of the best bassists in the world, IMO! I think Mr Big is touring now, or have just finished a tour. Not sure. Billy also has a couple other "supergroups"... The Winery Dogs and Niacin. Both worth checking out, as is Talas.

Brace yourselves, it's me again ... the wonderful Mr Big were, alongside Winger, the bands that combined traditional hair metal accessibility with orchestra-level technical skills in the late 80s and early 90s (both US bands, by the way). Mr Big were formed by legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (blonde guy, far left) - and I mean LEGENDARY. The next time you see this video, or any other by the band, check him out specially, because he is literally one of the most beloved and influential bass players of any genre, ever. Following his own band Talas, and moonlighting with legendary Brits UFO, he achieved world-wide recognition with former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, after which he formed Mr Big. The name of the band is from the title of a 1970 song by Free - as it happens, the first popular rock song including a bass solo! (It's also, coincidentally, the name of the villain in the James Bond movie "Live and let die".) Singer Eric Martin was formerly a moderately successful solo artist who was also a contender for joing many classic bands like Van Halen, Toto, Rainbow and Wishbone Ash. Guitarist Paul Gilbert was formerly with heavy metal band Racer X (coincidentally the same band from whom the legendary Judas Priest snatched their current drummer Scott Travis) and have since grown to status of guitar hero in his own right, and even as a pop solo artist. Drummer Pat Torpey was a mentor for aspiring drummers at the L.A. metal scene, and played with the likes of Ted Nugent and Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin fame) before joining Mr Big. "To be with you" was featured on the band's 1991 sophomore album "Lean into it". Sales were sadly not too strong, and even the band thought it wasn't going any further, until it was decided to release the final track on the album as a single. A throwaway acoustic track, that Eric Martin had written at the age of seventeen to the then girl of his dreams and was just added to the album as a filler. But ... the song turned into literally ONE OF THE BIGGEST HIT SINGLES OF THE 90S. Unfortunately, with the arrival of grunge, Mr Big were being regarded as obsolete by the music business and their fortunes faded once more, even though they still enjoyed relative success until calling it a day in 2002. In 2009 they reunited, however, releasing three ridiculously superb albums between 2010 and 2017. And it has only happened ONCE that they haven't performed "To be with you" on stage: following that reunion, on the biggest annual heavy metal event in Europe, the Wacken Open Air Festival. Eric Martin was terrified at the sight of so many scary looking long-haired, leather-clad metal fans, and refused to do "To be with you" as the usual encore. Despite Billy Sheehan telling him this was a mistake. Afterwards, while signing autographs, those same scary metal dudes kept asking Eric why they didn't play "To be with you". Billy looked at Eric and said: "I told you. EVERYONE loves 'To be with you'. And those who don't love it, want to hear it anyway." Currently Mr Big are recording what is to be their final album. Following drummer Pat Torpey's death from Parkinson's disease in 2018, it simply hasn't been the same for them. So if you get the chance to see their up'n'coming farewell tour (with Nick D'Virgilio of Spock's Beard fame on drums): do take it. Because Mr Big are also one of the greatest live bands ever. Trust me.

Yeah, they do have harder songs. Both the bassist and guitar player, Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert are virtuosos. Gilbert was one of the famous '80's guitar players and Sheehan was often nicknamed the Eddie Van Halen of bass. This song doesn't display their chops because it draws attention to all their vocals, which is still impressive IMO.

💜💜💜💜 I love this band. I prefer the official video for this song, their personality comes through. But, the Tokyo concert is great for "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy". Try "Just Take My Heart" (MV), "Take Cover" (MV), "Addicted To That Rush" (MV), "Wind Me Up" (MV) and "Alive And Kickin'" (MV). They rock and do ballads. Try the suggestions and you will have a variety.
