Lmao at your reaction. I got to see them when I was in high school with Bon Scott not long before he died, and it was in a small venue. Still probably my favorite rock concert ever, and I went to a whole bunch. I love how you pointed out that totally unappealing super raspy snarling voice, but it works so perfectly for this. And this isn't the only song he did that in either, he used it a fair amount but it's almost always comedic. But it's almost always still very close to the edge with that hard rock feeling. It's both things at once somehow and it musically fits as well, if you really listen to the pitches that he's using, even though it's not straightforward singing.

The first time I heard that "Ha, Ha, Ha" breathing thing was a couple of years earlier by Paul McCartney and Wings, with their song Junior's Farm. It a great video; great song! One of Paul's hardest rockers.

Love that one, and only a few years later, ELO, who of course loved the Beatles, used it briefly in probably my favorite song by them, Mr Blue Sky.

Just heard Wings doing it again. In the Venus and Mars Rockshow song, during the "In my green metal suit" part.

For their "bluesy rocky" side try "Ride On". For a heavy, slow groove check out "Night Prowler". Two different sounding AC/DC songs that are undeniably still AC/DC.

Love this band! I saw them in concert on 2/22/1991 in St. Pete, FL when I was 18 during their Razor's Edge tour. Best concert ever!! RIP Malcolm

I watched a vocal coach analyse a Bon Scott song and she was blown away by the fact that he constantly sings off key but as she pointed out, it's his style, he's meaning to sing that way, and somehow it just works and sounds unique and brilliant. Personally, i always describe his voice as like two alley cats fighting. Yes, ACDC is essentially hard rock but much of the Bon Scott era songs were much more bluesy. Not so much this one though. I suggest you check out "Ride On" which is much more bluesy.

If you want your face and ears melted simultaneously by both Angus and Bon, check out the last song on side A of their iconic album, Highway to Hell. The name of the song is, Beating Around the Bush. It's an incredible high-paced banger, but it still has space and precision in it. It's so fun.

This was early AC/DC - their 3rd album from 1976 also titled 'Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap' w/ Bon Scott on lead vocals... It came out in Australia in '76 w/ a different cover and track listing... AC/DC had just been signed internationally and released their international 'High voltage' debut album w/ songs from their first 2 Australian albums ('High voltage' and 'T.N.T.') AC/DC wanted to put out an international version of 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap' ... it was released in Europe, but in N. America, the label refused to release the album because they deemed it a "poor effort" 🙄(It shows how little industry people know!) The first album 'High voltage' was not a commercial success in the US and AC/DC was in danger of being dropped by the record label there. But AC/DC were desperate to play USA and Canada in 1977 and recorded their 4th album 'Let there be rock' w/ big guitars and pushed for the album to be released in America and Europe... Atlantic Records in America were finally persuaded to give AC/DC another shot and released 'Let there be rock'... AC/DC played their first US shows in 1977 as Cliff Williams (bass) joined the band and would be their bassist until 2023. The album would prove successful as AC/DC toured... 'Let there be rock' would chart in the top 200 in the USA... The next album 'Powerage' in 1978 met similar resistance in America - radio stations refused to play it cos it was deemed 'uncommercial' ... AC/DC's fanbase continued to grow and the album sold a quarter million copies in the US w/ no radio promotion. 'Highway to Hell' (their 6th album) would become their first commercial success, selling gold in the US (half million copies) in 1979... Sadly, it was the last album to feature singer Bon Scott, who died unexpectedly in early 1980. Brian Johnson (vocals) stepped into AC/DC in 1980 and recorded the album 'Back in Black' which would sell over 10 million copies in the US by 1981... By this point, their US label smelled the dollar$$$ and went back and released 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap' in 1981 and it ended up selling 6 million copies (Not bad for a "poor effort"!) AC/DC's next album 'For those about to rock - we salute you' in 1981 became their first record to chart at #1 in the US and sold 4 million copies.

This song came out a few years earlier in Europe, then was released in North America in 81 when I was a kid I always thought the lyrics were dirty deeds and the thunder chief till my brother made fun of me for getting the words wrong

AC/DC is original hard rock and probably the best from that earlier 1970’s era. They are definitely without a doubt Hard Rock(and Roll)but Angus Young’s solos has a definite Electric Blues influence in times two Rock and Roll fast motion.
