Listening them since late 90-th, when they have released music video on "Black Winter Day". But my favorite one is "My Kantele". Pozdrav

Great that you finally discovered Amorphis!! My favourite live performance bh them is Towards and Against live 2010 in Forging the Land of Thousand Lakes concert. I love also the songs Four Wise Ones and Dark Path among many others...

Amorphis are wonderful. The Bee is also great! They have such a great vairety of "sounds" (but somehow they all sound Amorphis) - would definitely recommend trying various albums to see the huge variety! Their live music is fun! Try anything from the Forging a Land of Thousand Lakes [at Oulu] show, it's a high-quality DVD. They got less heavy stuff (like Silver Bride and Smoke) and more heavy stuff (like Majestic Beast). Maybe the last song, (My Kantele - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWXLgquLaMZmhrs ) is a good peek and will definitely give you the chills! There's almost no wrong with Amorphis. Nightbird's Song is also an interesting one. there's just so many 😅 Also, what about trying Orphaned Land's latest album?

Just writing this down brought me a ton of other suggestions... I won't spam but maybe try "Into the Abyss", which I think is somewhat less common and is sort of an underdog in my opinion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKnJpoF7m9uGmrc

@@neonskepetunije Just FYI: (1) The live versions are best (in my opinion) and are a bit different between performance to performance (the Oulu show is just one great example) This one is with good audio quality as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/j56VdXWdZ8uLirs (2) The song is usually used at the very very end of the show to "close it down". It is mostly more chill. (3) It is rendition of a traditional Finnish song from 1840's. (4) Don't skip the instrumental part at the end!!!!

Their last 4 albums have nothing to do with the kalevala, they do still draw inspiration from folklore outside kalevala but are not limited by it. This song has nothing to do with any of that for instance.

Thanks for the clarification 👍

I wouldn't say that, since Tuonela and Manala are mentioned quite a few times on the "Trilogy", both of which are a big part of Kalevela.
@Kari-qv1wn11 күн бұрын
@metalfan9000 which are concepts from finnish mythology meaning the thousands of folksongs (epic poems and spellpoetry especially). They are still very much using folklore and mythology but not the kalevala which is a work of literature and in many ways a misleading representation of its sourcematerial

The Demon King (Finn Bálor) Entrance 😂 sub genre of metal comes from the original British progressive rock era which grew out of the experimental and psychedelic era of the second half of the 1960s and reached its peak between 1969 and 1974. Prog Rock was cultivated in the 1970s by British rock groups such as Yes, King Crimson, and Genesis with Peter Gabriel. During this time, bands like Yes, Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, and dozens of others were the best of a generation. Albums became double albums and concept albums and live performances grew to fill stadiums with grand stage sets and sometimes costumes, too. The show began to take over for the music and the music became grandiose and above the listening patience of many. By this time too, the social climate was changing and the hopeful, forward-looking youth of the sixties were being replaced by a new generation who faced a grimmer, un-promising reality. Among the first generation of progressive rock groups, Pink Floyd and Yes both found great success with their 1977 releases, “Animals” by Pink Floyd and “Going for the One” by Yes. Yes even scored a hit song with “Wondrous Stories”. Genesis had not yet evolved into a prog band and “Wind and Wuthering” was still very much in the prog vein and holding on to the fan base for the band. Other bands like ELP, Jethro Tull, and King Crimson struggled with their music, changed their style, or split up in order to take time to think about the next move while prog rockers like former Yes and King Crimson drummer, Bill Bruford, teamed up with others and formed new bands like U.K. What was "innovative" about progressive rock, i. e. what did it contribute to the renewal? I myself like to use another term, namely "Advanced Popmusic", meaning "advanced popular music". Advanced, because this genre leaves the paths of pure commercialism and radio suitability, and connects elements with each other that were or are otherwise known only to the educated bourgeoisie. Progrock doesn’t have a clear and determined structure of composition. In classical (or better: ancient) music we meet different “classes” like the symphony, the madrigal, sonata, opera, fugue etc. All those forms have form specific principles, which makes them the particular form. Progrog is more eclecticistic, it mixes them all, doesn’t concentrate on principles. So all the works of progrog bands can be considered as “Tonal Poetry”. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
