Debbie Harry of the band "Blondie" is a beautiful woman, with a great voice.
@scotthall27234 жыл бұрын
If you are captivated by her eyes, check out the video for the Bangles "Walk Like An Egyptian". Susanna Hoffs will grab you the same way. Though the Bangles cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade Of Winter" to my ears is better than the original. Note that Blondie was out during the disco era, so that's where the dance vibe comes from. For the group Berlin, Terri Nunn took a Debbra Harry look on stage - especially for their college tour featuring the song "Take My Breath Away" (Top Gun movie) -- they opened for Tears For Fears (I worked spotlight for that concert one summer).

This version has been edited. 4:30 she says "soon turned out to be a heart of glass". In the actual recording, she says "soon turned out to be a pain in the ass". Read her lips. Video has been edited. I think that takes away from the artist's conception of their music.

Satellite TV back in 81 had a Blondie special that talked about the last minute change to suit the American ASS limits in place at the time. I thought the BBC would have been their biggest pain, you couldn't say damn if you were saving the country with your finger. Check out Auntie Beeb's list of banned songs. The singer is Debbie Harry. The band is Blondie. It's definitely NOT a solo act, though Debbie Harry had a couple of minor solo hits in the 80s. This wasn't actually the 80s, though - they broke up in 1982. This song was from 1978, actually. Alongside acts such as Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, and Patti Smith Group, Blondie was one of the key NYC Punk Rock / New Wave acts to emerge from CBGBs and the Lower East Side in the mid-70s. They ended up being the best-selling US act of the New Wave era. Stylistically, Punk was a very small part of their sonic palette. "Heart of Glass" (US#1, 1978) was their main foray into Disco. They also played with Old Skool Rap on "Rapture" (US#1 - 2wks, 1981), Calypso on "The Tide Is High" (US#1, 1981), Glam Rock on "One Way or Another" (US#24, 1978), Power Pop on "Sunday Girl" (UK#1, 1978) and "Dreaming" (US#27, 1979), Synth-Rock on "Call Me" (US#1 - 6wks!!!, 1980), and Spaghetti-Western-Mutant-Disco-New-Wave on my personal favorite Blondie hit, "Atomic" (US#39; UK#1, 1979). Despite having several giant US hits, they had a number of songs that were much bigger in the UK ["Denis", "Union City Blue", "Picture This", and "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear" - all UK Top20 hits that never charted in the US] and Australia [their first hit anywhere, "In the Flesh" (AUS#2, 1976)]. They also reunited briefly in 1998 and had a UK#1 with "Maria".

A must listen solo tracks of Debbie's is "Brite Side" that song is beautiful.

For me and Blondie it's "Dreaming" and "Atomic". Hey Jovaughn...if you are still looking to react to female singers, here are some Canadian bands with female lead singers worth checking out: Cowboy Junkies "Anniversary Song", Headpins "Don't It Make Ya Feel", Crash Vegas "Sky", Jackalope "Pretty Life", Martha and the Muffins "Echo Beach", and Toronto "Break Down The Barricades". A little bit of trivia...Toronto did a song called "What About Love" that was later covered Heart.

Loved your reaction. Blondie is actually the name of the band, Debbie Harry is the singer. :) The band started in the NYC punk scene in the 70s but they had hits drawing from all kinds of styles - reggae/calypso (Tide is High), rap (Rapture), punky rock (One Way Or Another), electro rock (Call Me) and more. Clem Burke is one of the greatest drummers in rock. Check out their song “Dreaming” for a truly amazing drum beat.

This was originally designed to be a reggae/ska song, but then it got reworked for the disco dancefloor... both are Iconic actually... Debbie Harry is everything Madonna and Lady Gaga *try* to be. The much requested 'Rapture' is a painfully cringy attempt at rapping, but worthwile listening to as a novelty and its chorus is used on KRS One - Step Into A World; a hip-hop classic. So yeah, feel free to react, but lower your expectations. ;) My picks to react to would be 'One Way Or Another', 'X Offender', 'Atomic', 'Call Me' and 'Denis'.
