Oh man- the 80’s was such a fun time! We were laughing at the video even then, meanwhile hopping on the dance floor when it came on at the bars having a great time!

Still no matter how old. We still have these songs. Sometimes I know you're youngsters but I don't understand how you've never heard Cameo music just because they're American. My son is 33 now & it sure isn't his jam but he's heard these songs. No offence but I just don't understand why. Don't they play these songs on the radio or it makes me think you guys are about 18. Can you please explain this to a 58 Yr old?

This is one of the best songs from the early 80s..you still hear people say 'Word up'...it's referenced in movies/tv etc...you'll hear it now. This is was HUGE

There is no way to adequately describe what it was like in the 80s. It was pure magic

That drum and base line hits... then they hop in with the brass later. This is almost pure funk. Makes you want to bust a move? Word up. Love the reaction.
@jenniferfoster16922 жыл бұрын
Music videos were so creative and fun because of MTV. Artists had a huge platform where they could get a lot of attention, there was a lot of money being spent on making videos because if you had a good one, you'd be on heavy MTV rotation and sell albums. And it was the beginning of a new art form. People were being super creative and experimenting with perfomances and effects, that's why some of the 80s videos are so trippy...it's creative people just having fun and pushing the boundaries! It was the best time, such good vibes and it was as much fun as it looks.

There was a music programme in the UK called top of the pops that ran from60's-00's on the BBC when cameo was on he wore the red codpiece and it was talked about.the detective in the video was played by levar Burton who was Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also played Kunta Kinte in roots. On KZbin there are alot of performances from top of the pops you can react to.

Cameo has so many great songs...some Funky and some Slow and Sentimental!!! They were super talented!!! Their song "Talking Out The Side of Your Neck" is played by quite a few HBCU marching bands!!! It's often referred to simply as, "NECK." Search "HBCU Marching Band NECK" and see what I'm talkin' 'bout!!! 😀

I’ve seen quite a few of your reactions but never seen you this happy. Why? Because: FUNK. It’s natural. Larry Blackmon, singer, had two super funky side projects: L.A Connection and Mantra, around 1981 (and Cameo was amazing then too). Maybe not for reaction, but take my word for it - you WANT to hear them! A nice music video by Cameo - She’s strange. The are SOOO funky! 😎👍🏾

You youngstas are funny!😆😅😂That's that head-bobbing effect... IT GOTCHA! ... This is when people PLAYED INSTRUMENTS for real. (and not just a keyboard hooked to a computer!) There was HORNS... BASS GUITAR... RHYTHM & LEAD GUITAR... VOCALS (with no Auto-Tune)... It's called "real music" guys!!! Nowadays, mostly all music is just "computer trickery." BUT THIS WAS THE 80'S YALL... You had to have TALENT!!! Yall will never know what an exciting time yall missed. Just imagine all your music sounding ENERGIZED and FUNKY like this!!!
