Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He is a twenty-nine year old multi-faceted artist with a soul of a thousand years, who hails from Kazakhstan. He sings in 16 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 7 octave 2 semi-tone range, has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble and kind man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018, "Stranger" 2021,"Olimpico" 2019 link on Igor Krutoy's (composer that came out of retirement to work with Dimash) KZbin channel, "Adagio" from The Singer 2017, "Ikanaide" 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival, and "Ave Maria" 2021 at New Wave. After digesting those performances, I can't stress enough my recommendation for one of his most recent songs and music video (mini movie) the artistic masterpiece "The Story of One Sky" that he wrote the screenplay for and spent 3 years composing the music for, which displays a lot of his range (not all) and soooo many vocal techniques and dynamics, including sub harmonics, whistle register, bass, tenor, baritone, classical, jazz, pop, rock and unreal metal screams....and unbelievable dramatic acting. Kiwi Dear here. Welcome to the most amazing rabbit hole ever dug. I vaguely remember hearing him do Diva Dance quite a few years ago but became a full-blown dear 3 1/2 yrs ago. I've been happily navigating the Dimash tunnels since. Now that you've tasted the appetiser, I highly recommend Sinful Passion, Olympico, Stranger, and Ave Maria as your entree. After that, the course choices are determined by which tunnel you're in at any given time. Oh, and if you listen to another Dimash song or this one a second time, you automatically qualify for Dear status. So, I'm guessing it's safe to say, "Kia Ora to the club Dear." 😜

Actually, he was a relative unknown going into the show. It's a talent show like The Voice, but all the contestants are professional singers. They wanted an unknown to open the show. He had to quickly sign a professional contract in order to fulfill the professional requirements. The fans were just hyped because it was the first song of the show. This unknown man just walks out and drops this on national Chinese TV. He collected something like 400M Instagram followers that night.

Dimash was 22 in this performance. Now 29. He has a 7+ octave range. He began his classical/operatic vocal training at age 5 and also began his classical instrument training at the same time. Later he began training in contemporary and pop and almost always combines all of his abilities in a song He has perfect pitch and was playing classical piano pieces well before that. His grandmother entered him in Kazakhstan's premier music school for youth when he informed her their piano was out off pitch. This sing off is in China and this song and performance flung him into world dominance as a singer, while he has remained virtually obscure in the U.S. He completed his PhD in Musicology this past spring then moved to L.A. to obtain a degree in Film Directing. His concert schedule is quite heavy so the film degree may take him awhile. He is kind, quiet but articulate, loving, often seen walking around with babies or children of his fans while in an airport. He will always give up his seat for elderly or infirmed. Highly respectful, adores his family, (Grandparents, parents, siblings, extended family and longtime familial friends) He is a strong patriot of Kazakhstan, his homeland. His ethnicity is Eurasian and is 6'3" tall. He was raised fluent in Kazak and Russian, and pretty good in English and Chinese Mandarin. This performance is almost childlike compared to what he does now. I hope you react to much more of this phenomena.

He is from Khazakhstan which means his first language is Russian. This song is from a French musical called "Starmania". Dimash learned it because he heard how hard the song was to sing so he took it on as a challenge. If you keep checking out his songs, you'll find that he has songs in English, Russian, French, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. He has his own songs he has written, does covers, and works with a man named Igor Krutoy who is some sort of Russian billionaire oligarch composer who came out of retirement just to write songs for Dimash. Their collaborations are always off the charts. You can see Igor in "Sinful Passion" at the end in the front row standing up to applaud him. I think they started collaborating after that. You'll often see Igor accompanying Dimash on the piano. Be warned: every single song Dimash does will surprise you. As soon as you think you know what Dimash will do, he blows your mind.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan, sibgs in 14 languages, including English, hasa 7.2 octave range andis also the most humble, kind and caring man. This was from 2017 when he was 22 and he is now 29 so his voice has matured beautifully now. His lower register is just gorgeous and he still has the high range too. SOS is Dimash masterpiece!! It is an existentialist song, about ups and downs in life, depression and death, when you feel you don’t belong here. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. Dimash is a world class artist from Kazakhstan, turned 29 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He started his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, been studying since age five, he’s now 29. Sings most genres from opera to rap, plays a few instruments, sings in 14 or so languages, speaks Kazakh, Russian fluently, pretty ok in English now and some mandarin. But he remains the most humble person, respectful, patriotic and loving. Try Stranger from new wave 2021. It’s like a game of thrones film score, in English and epic.

I also really love him singing in his lower register. Sinful Passion and Omir/2023 both have plenty of lower register. Use captions as lyrics are beautiful. Stranger shows a much wider range but there have been Copyright issues as of late so add snowflakes, block, or blur video. Frank was right. Although this is the song and performance that introduced Dimash to the world, it truly just barely scratches the surface of his vocal and creative abilities, both of which are nearly endless. There has never been anyone like him and I doubt there ever will be. Sings in virtually every music genre known to man (and in 15 languages), plays seven instruments well, has fan clubs in 150 countries. Dare I say even more talented than MJ? Yes, I dare say it.

This happens to be the song and the performance that ultimately propelled him to worldwide recognition. You will find as you listen to dimash more that this song doesn't even come close to his lowest or highest notes. Mariah Carey wishes, she doesn't have the seven plus octave range that he does. He does have songs where he stays pretty much in his mid to head voice mix range. If you really want to enjoy his higher register I would suggest reacting to his version of Ave Maria. If you want to hear a song that comes close to his lowest and highest notes I would recommend Stranger. Both of these are performances from the New Wave 2021 performances.

You're right, this song was his first one in a Chinese singing competition so it had to show a lot in a short amount of time. If you would like to hear a song that uses mainly his lovely middle register, take a look at one of his Kazakh songs, "Samaltau" from either the Tokyo Jazz Festival (it's not a jazz song) or from the Digital Show. It's a song about a young man who was forced to join the army and leave his elderly parents and his homeland behind. Or try "Love is Like a Dream" which is in Russian. Enjoy!

Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And that in all registers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 or 16 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. Sometimes he also can be a little bit goofy, and I love it❤️. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing.
