George plays a hollow body electric Ibanez guitar. He makes it sing, in fact, he sings the notes in unison. This song was written by a team of great songwriters; Cynthia Weil & hubby Barry Mann, Mike Stoller, and Jerry Leiber. It was first recorded in 1964 by The Drifters. Weil & Mann also wrote "You've lost that lovin' feelin'" (The Righteous Brothers), "Here you come again" (Dolly Parton), & "We got to get out of this place" (The Animals). A big hit for George was an instrumental song called, "Breezin'". More hits by George are "This Masquerade" and "Give Me the Night". I've been a big fan for many years. He is smooth!

He covers different genres or styles such as jazz, pop, R&B & scat singing. His Breezin' album was one of the biggest selling of all time. He has such a smooth mellow voice. His jazz-blues style of playing was awesome, Still rack my brain for anyone else who could sing exactly what he was playing during a solo, can't come up with anyone. Saw him live in '86, great show, he and his 6-piece band were top-notch studio-perfect! ( Including a bad-azz sistah playing congas/percussion and adding beautiful back-up vocals.)

George was an amazing talent. That scatting? That's how well he knows music: he's singing every note he's going to play...because he knows just how that note will sound!!! This is ART. Not everything he did was art; some songs were just Pop. But this one and Masquerade are incredible. BTW, he didn't write these two. Leon Russell did. So glad you found this!

Asia & BJ George made his name as a jazz guitarist first , then started singing as well. With the scatting , he can do it the same every time because he knows the scales he's playing on guitar and is matching the scale note for note with his voice. The initial riff for his song Turn Your Love Around was written by Toto guitarist Steve Lukather who was one of L.A.'s top studio musicians at the time & was Quincy Jones go to guy for studio work.
