The album Silk Degrees was notorious for its funk, soft rocking, jazzy, mellow vide in the mid-7o's. It spawned 3 singles that kept it on the radio and dance clubs for a solid 2 years. Boz Scaggs also scored later with BREAKDOWN DEAD AHEAD and LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME. The song had been used in commercials which is why it's familiar to you. Now I have one for Asia to sing to BJ. Because the sentinel is right and it suits her vocal range. The song is by Gladys Knight and the Pips and it it called, NEITHER ONE OF US. And for that little bit of funk for your soul listen to YOU GOT THE LOVE by Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. Enjoy.

This is the great, GREAT Jeff Porcaro on drums, one of the most recorded drummers in history. He's the drummer on "Beat It," for crying out loud. Last week was the 30th anniversary of his passing - he died too young at 38. To hear more of him grooving his ass off behind Boz Scaggs, check out "Jojo." Per Songfacts the song is about a girl who doesn't appreciate what her man gives her. The "dirty lowdown" is the honest truth - what Scaggs is encouraging this poor sap to face. The word "Lowdown" was popular slang meaning a summary of what's going on for real. The first Hot 100 entry with the term in the title came in 1969 with the instrumental "Lowdown Popcorn" by James Brown (#41, 1969). Next came Chicago's song "Lowdown" (#35, 1971.).

You've probably heard this one before guys; it's NEVER been off the radio, never forgotten. It's too good for that.
