This song is a Manta , he was big on using mantras to clear his mind. George was always my favorite. He had so much soul in his music & I always respected his journey. He seemed to love music so much Did you know he survived an attack in his own home ? A person broke into his house while he and his wife were asleep, he tried to talk him out but he was stabbed and seriously hurt. He passed from cancer. He spent so much time on his spiritual journey that he said he thought he was prepared for death. He might have been but many of us were absolutely not ready for him to go ☮️

Little Georgie exploded onto the world's stage in the wake of the Beatles breakup and scored the greatest of all of the Beatles solo albums with this TRIPLE ALBUM full of songs he couldn't get recorded on Beatles albums. And Billy Preston is front and center in both this song and in most of George's solo albums. John may have had Paul as a songwriting teammate, but, in the end, George had Billy has his long sought for musical partner both inside and outside of the Beatles.

From the Performing songwriter website, excerpt: George Harrison’s debut single blanketed the airwaves, a struggling New York publisher, Bright Tunes Music, must’ve heard divine intervention in the melody of “My Sweet Lord.” It was identical to a chestnut in their dusty catalog, “He’s So Fine.” On Feb. 10, 1971, as Harrison’s hit was idling down from four weeks at No. 1, Bright Tunes filed a copyright infringement suit. The older song, written by Ronnie Mack, had been a chart-topper in 1963 for the Chiffons. That same year, the Beatles were routinely singing the praises of such American R&B tunes, both in interviews with the British press and in the set lists of their live show. There was no question of access to the previous work, as Harrison freely admitted during his trial. But the Chiffons weren’t on his mind in 1969, when he picked up his guitar and started singing the word “Hallelujah” over a two-chord progression. “I was inspired by the Edwin Hawkins Singers’ version of ‘Oh Happy Day,’” Harrison said. In the end, Harrison was found guilty of “subconscious plagiarism” and had to pay $1,599,987 of the earnings from “My Sweet Lord” to Bright Tunes (songwriter Ronnie Mack had died in 1963, shortly after “He’s So Fine” charted). “I’ve never had any money from the song,” Harrison later recalled. “It’s always been in escrow. As far as I’m concerned, the effect the song has had far exceeds any bitching between copyright people and their greed and jealousy.”

I’m not even religious and I love this song, so much soul. George indeed was a very cool dude, very chilled and humble, with such an interesting story. And to me the most relatable. He was also a very complicated man, certainly flawed, but he was a good person. He was a humanitarian, he organised the first benefit concert, he helped popularise Indian music, he mortgaged his house to help produce Monty Python. He also kinda suffered ptsd from Beatlemania, because that became a little scary for them, and for some years he kinda became a recluse especially after Lennon’s murder, which is ironic because he was stabbed near to death by an intruder in his house. He managed to survive and when asked to make a statement he said: “he wasn’t a burglar, and he certainly wasn’t auditioning for the Traveling Wilburys”, which was the super group he assembled in the 80s with Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.

George has been my favorite since The Beatles were on Ed Sullivan when I was 8. He was "the quiet one". He became very spiritual, as did I. This album is freakin' amazing! My fave would have to be "Beware Of Darkness". The blond in the video is Pattie Boyd, George's wife. Eric Clapton later fell in love with her, and she was his inspiration for his song "Layla". She was the inspiration for many songs from both Harrison and Clapton, too many to list. She ended up leaving Harrison and marrying Clapton. Harrison and Clapton were best buds, and remained so

George is hands down my favorite Beatle. His songs are so DEEP. He pretty much became so aggravated by Paul holding him back if you watch the Get Back documentary. He seemed to align more with John. They understood each other on a different level. He was so special and just pure.

I’m with ya…for me the Best Beatles songs are written and sung by George. I feel maybe John and Paul were afraid of George because they knew how incredibly talented George was. It definitely showed after they broke up because he was incredible on his own. RIP George surly missed
@KieopАй бұрын
@@CJ-Fischer BS. By which I mean that John and Paul weren't "threatened" by his talent. They were just too preoccupied competing with each other and sometimes he got overlooked. But they were always supportive, at least as much as they could be. John and Paul supported George's songwriting in the early days and if it wasn't for them, he would never have even had ANY tracks on their albums. You think the label was pushing for a third songwriter to compete with the golden goose? For comparison, look at the Stones. Brian Jones had no faith in his songwriting abilities and never tried to develop them (though at one point he did score a movie somehow). He got no support from Mick and Keith, who for their part never even realized that Brian had any aspirations as a songwriter. They were completely oblivious. In later years, George got 2 B-sides and finally scored an A-side with Something. But yes, over time, George became frustrated at his paltry allotment and The Beatles had a tentative plan when they broke up to divide the songs equally (4 each) and pursue their solo careers in tandem. George ended up a successful solo performer. Brian ended up dead by misadventure.

Paul and George loved each other very much, evident in the years after band broke up, John was killed and especially when George got sick. The love and friendship was always there. Paul didn't hold anyone back....he was trying to keep the band together. For you to imply anything else is shameful.

George died of cancer. I guess he was in remission and doing well when a crazed fan broke into his house in the middle of the night, stabbing him multiple times. Many believed that attack brought the cancer back with a vengeance, and George sadly passed away 2 years later. And of course, John Lennon was assassinated by a crazed fan when he had just turned 40 years old. Very sad. Long Live The Beatles! Peace
@thomastimlin1724Ай бұрын
George had developed into a superior slide guitar player and you can certainly hear it on My Sweet Lord. During his solo years it became his trademark sound. George was 58 when he passed away. The Beatles had previously attempted the late John's song in 1995 "Now and Then" and there was footage seen from that in the new Now and Then Video, that is what is confusing to newcomers.
@DJBilodeauАй бұрын
All 4 Beatles have intense life stories. Both John and Paul lost their mothers at a young age-you might see the bond right there. And John had a horrific childhood. Might have to get some videos to show more background on these guys, make them more real, as they were all very, very real, each in their own unique way.
@DJBilodeauАй бұрын
Right! You saw "Now and Then", the Beatles 2023 release from made from a late '70's John Lennon demo. There are 3 time periods shown on that video-the Beatles years, the 1995 Beatles Anthology project (which shows an older George Harrison) and a 2022 recording session where only the two surviving Beatles, Paul and Ringo, are shown. So, yes, most people unfortunately know about John's untimely demise in December 1980, but some people don't know that George passed in November 2001. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr their with their friend who was passing away. Paul and George did a lot of healing in that time, as Paul always treated George like the little brother that he would help after bothered enough, but mostly wanted him to go away. Paul held hands with George as he was passing. George had a message for Paul-"forgive Yoko, Paul. Life's too short". Paul called George his "little brother", and also said "he was the bravest man I ever knew". Unfortunately for George's relationship with John, though George idolized John, they had a falling out in 1980 as John felt slighted that George didn't mention John as an influence in George's autobiography. "He's got every two bit saxaphone player in there," said John. Unfortunately, John was taken from us before George and he could work that issue out between them. Despite the more than occasional drama from the ex-Beatles, their love of each other was far deeper than that.

I think the main issue for George was that he was tired of being the supporting cast to Lennon/McCartney. He didn’t even care about fame but he wanted some kind of validation that was never given to him in the Beatles. The problem was George Martin, their producer, I believe, who put Paul and John on a pedestal since their first encounter and refused to acknowledge that George was also becoming a talented songwriter. I really can’t blame him for wanting out, especially when outside of that bubble there was Bob Dylan, Clapton, and others acknowledging how good he was.

"My Sweet Lord" was the big hit from George Harrison's 1970 triple album, All Things Must Pass, his first post Beatles solo album. It also features the songs "What Is Life", "Wah-Wah", "Isn't It a Pity", "All Things Must Pass", and a cover of Bob Dylan's "If Not for You" among its classic tracks. I remember hearing "My Sweet Lord" playing on the radio at the Dairy Queen my parents took us to once after church when I was three or four circa 1970. All those "Hallelujahs" fit right in with the music from church, the "Hare Krishnas" not so much. That slide guitar really stood out too. Did you notice how long it took before the drums kicked in? I played guitar in the church youth choir when I was in high school and my buddy and I tried to slip this song into the program once, until the director told us no. The hare-krishna bits were a step too far I suppose. We played an instrumental bit from Pink Floyd instead without telling him and he never knew the difference. Harrison was taken to court over "My Sweet Lord" on the accusation that he plagiarized "He's So Fine" by the Chiffons for this song. He lost the case because the similarities between the songs are clear, but the ruling was that the plagiarism was subconscious so he retained his reputation, thankfully. I blame that whole mess on Phil Spector. Check out The Chiffons "He's So Fine" for comparison. Also check out some of the songs George Harrison wrote for The Beatles (if you haven't already) -- "Here Comes The Sun", "Something", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Taxman", "I Want to Tell You", "Long Long Long", "Savoy Truffle", and "I Me Mine" among them. Good stuff! Also check out the performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's 2004 tribute to George Harrison where Prince shows off his considerable chops in a solo for the ages.

George's ex wife, Patti Boyd, became the most celebrated muse in music history. George wrote : I Need you, If I needed someone, For you Blue, Something, and within you without you about her. Then she left George and married Eric Clapton. He wrote Layla, Bell bottom blues, wonderful tonight, and Old Love about her. Nobody else has that many songs written about them (real person).

To paraphrase George from the Beatles Anthology Project in 1995 (your program on Paul and Michael claimed that Michael gave the green light on this project that had been in the works when he bought the major part of the Beatles catalogue), the Beatles were a platform from which all four of them were able to do so much. At the same time, noted George, it became a restrictive box which "in the end, had to self-destruct".

In the video with George, part of that song was worked on in 1994. They tried to clean it up enough back then to release it with the Anthology albums. They were not able to do it because the technology couldn't separate John's voice from the piano on the cheap cassette recording. Peter Jackson was able to use AI to do this in 2023. George died in 2001 of the cancer he battled for a decade.

Mantra chanting has a special place in the spiritual and meditation realms because of its profound effects on the mind, body, and soul. The Hare Krishna mantra, a 16-word Vaishnava mantra, is regarded as Lord Krishna's most potent mantra. 'Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare', which are some of the lyrics in this song. A practicing Yogi will typically chant this mantra repeatedly, sometimes for several hours per day to get it's benefit. Which is to empty your mind or in other words to shut off your internal dialog completely, by focusing only on the mantra & God\Krishna. Eventually you'll reach a sort of rewired state of mind to where your primary\first attention is naturally always focused on God\Krishna. Then it becomes like a filter on every moment of your life. This way you can go through life controlling your emotions instead of allowing your emotions to control you, among an endless amount of other benefits as well. Thanks for your reaction.
