Same here! This was actually my first GNR song. Back in 1992, my brother stole UYI II from our older cousin, and this was the song that I listened over and over. I really didn’t know what was "mainstream" then. I was in Venezuela, a 12 year old kid, didn’t even know how BIG GNR was, but this was the song till today. Very underrated, same as Dead Horse, and most recently from the Chinese Democracy album, Catcher in the Rye.

I've always loved this song.. definitely took a minute to grow on me, but when it did... Some of Axl's best lyrics. Slash's solo rocks, as usual.

The talking at the end is from a cult film 'The Vanishing Point'. The band 'Primal Scream' did an whole album called 'The Vanishing Point' as an homage to that film. 'Kowalski' is main single off that album. Well worth a listen.

If you want a great song for a first time reaction, do Cradle of Filth and the song Her Ghost In The Fog. Get the lyric video though. One of my favorites.

I definitely agree with your sentiments. I always liked this song and would play it a few times in a row before moving to the next, but the last minute or so where they went wild weasal with no appealing and apparent direction is kinda irritating to listen to. That part is where I usually skip to the next song when listening to this album or start it over and play it again

Voiceover - I forgot about that part of the song. Didn't age well, and took away from what was an otherwise very under-rated melody & song on the album.

Yeah the voiceovers on these albums are a bit annoying to me. Especially on otherwise great tracks like this. I don't mind it on Get In The Ring as much, because its already kind of a wacky insane type song, anything goes so sure throw on a voiceover.

Like others have said, this is an underrated song IMO. Perhaps it is a bit too long, and the voiceover is a bit...IDK, corny? I don't mind it too much actually, but maybe I'm just used to it. I don't know if there was just a trend in doing these voiceovers at the time, or what. It also annoys me on Knockin On Heavens Door (which is why the Live Era album version is better, because being live, there is none of that voiceover stuff).
