As you started to rewind the first few seconds - I was laughing so hard - knowing you are already way down the rabbit hole and yes it's pure acapella. These guys are masters in making the instrumentation without the instruments, they all have stunning voices, their covers are as unique as their original songs ... And they have a great sense of humor - some of their videos are simply hilarious.

They are an amazing band, yes acapella and they are sort of country leaning, but they sing all genre's. Take for instance their cover of "End of the Road" by Boyz2Men" or their collab with Peter Hollens on U2's I still haven't found what I'm looking for. A course on their names...deep bass man Tim Foust, has a 5 octave range, baritone/bass is Adam Chance (he joined in May 2016) after the founder of the group left to pursue a solo career. Then you have big Rob Lundquist, the tenor, who was here in the beard, glasses & overalls, there is Austin Brown, who was lead in this video, the high tenor Austin Bown, who is just amazing & does solo stuff (covers & originals) on his own channel, just called Austin Bown, - he just dropped a new collab the other day with Tim Foust called My Maria a cover of the Brooks & Dunn 1994 cover of BW Stevenson hit from 1973, and lastly, Adam Rupp the beatboxer who is considered one of the best in the world.

With Home Free, anything and everything sounds good (read perfect), and Tim Foust (Bass) could proberblly sing from the phonebook, and sound amazing. Adam Rupp (beatboxer/ percussionist) are the last remaining founder the heartbeat of the group. He has an amazing sound portfolio, 20+ years of practis under his belt and to world championship voted by his beatboxing peers, and is one of a kind. And he has a georgeous tenor, and a badass throat bass. If you want to hear his voice, then "How great thou art" is the video to watch, georgeous and angellic. The lead singer in this song (the make "tryouts for every song, and takes turn singing lead), Austin Brown, are one heck of a high tenor, and can switch between Georgia accent and classical singing on a whim. Rob Lundquist (tenor), big beard and glasses, are the R&B/ soul voice of the group, you can hear it in "End of the Road" and "Country roads", fantastic voice. Tim Foust (bass) are one of the best bass singer right now (imo, THE BEST), and has a clear country sound. Their are some live videos, that are worth watching, "Tim's vibration", where you can see the effect his voice has on the body ;) And other live videos, where he let his inner self loose in "Uncle Tim runs his mouth" and a bunch of different "Story time with Tim", they are hillarious :) Otherwise, watch "Champagne tast (on a beer budget", to hear his wonderfull bass, and get a laugh, Tim wrote this song. In older videos, Chris Rupp (baritone), Adam's brother and cofounder of the group, sings, and allways has an cowboyhat, cap or sixpence on. The best video for hearing his voice, are "Movin' on", the last song HF did, before Chris left for his solo carreere. But befor that, he had handpicked his follower baritone singer. Adam Chance (baritone, and only called Chance, so not confuse the two Adam's), was the handpicked golden member, and he fits perfect in to the blemd, with his smooth baritone. Listen to "Cover me up", georgeous song, and perfect for Chance's voice, but watch it to the last second, or you miss the best part. Just keep up watching Home Free, and your will get a lot of followers, but allways be honest with your reactions, but also, don't be to harsh, and wait with the big judgement, until you have been listning to 10+ songs. Oh, and DO NOT listen to "Mayday" or "Snowglobe", befor you know all their names and range, otherweise you will miss the fully amazement of those songs. But "In the blood" are a good second video to watch, the beatboxing is simple, but on point, and those vocals and hamonies, sigh :) Good luck down the Home Free rabbit hole, lots of other rabbits to join there ;)

"Man of Constant Sorrow" is an old (1920's) C/W - Bluegrass song. It came to everyone's attention when it popped up in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou". Home Free is unique, in that they specialize in C/W songs, although they can cover a multitude of genres. The group came to national attention when they won their season of "The Sing Off" a network competition program. Each member has at least one college degree in music, and have created their own arrangements of songs. Tim Foust, the bass (Five octave range!), has written some numbers that the group has recorded. It will be worth your while to catch their various videos. I'd reccomend "Blue Ain't Your Color", "End of the Road", "Helplessly Hoping", and Foust's originals, "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget", and "Full of Cheer". Enjoy the ride!

The Soggy Bottom Boys version is a Bluegrass version, but the original song itself is an American Folk song first published by Dick Burnett in 1913, but thought to possibly be much older than that (or versions of it). I would consider HF's version Folk especially because Folk music was often sung a cappella. Bluegrass almost always has instruments and usually a faster tempo. Although, Folk & Bluegrass are closely related. Not that it matters though, lol! 😉

Lol 🤣 I've seen a LOT of reactions to Home Free, and this is up there with the top. At first I thought there was something wrong with your player so the video kept jumping back! 🤣 I laughed hard when I realised it was you being in shock! 😂 Yes, this is a whole different kind of acapella, unique, intriguing, beautiful, emotional, uplifting and so much fun. While there are several amazing acapella groups out there today these guys are in a league of their own when it comes to imitating instruments using only their voices while also singing words. The two other big acapella groups are VoicePlay who are also incredible just in a different way, they are more theatrical, and Pentatonix who do more pop and yet again incredible acapella in a different way. Some like all there, done two and some just one of them. Just like with all genres. Nobody likes all music in a genre. The similarities is the basic structure of the band/group with beat, bass, baritone, tenor and high tenor, although they du blue the lines as you'll see going down the rabbit hole. Home Free considers themselves a band while the other two are groups. Thanks for reaction and the laughter. New subscriber here, ready to go down the rabbit hole with you! Keep them coming! 🥰🙏

This video is awesome😄 I like how you kept rewinding back🤣 I'm sure you've already looked into them more, but the orange hat guy (Adam Chance) was the one doing the jaw harp thing in the background. Also, the more songs of theirs I listened too, the more I found that he lead. Each band member leads a lot of songs, and they're very good at choosing the right guy for each one. Anyway, if you search my name (Naomi Ruthven), the playlist called "Voiceplay/Home Free" has all my favorite songs of theirs. If you do, I'd love to hear back from you about it! Thanks for the awesome reaction vid

Chance, in the dark vest, did the Jew's harp sound using Tibetan throat singing. Adam Rupp isn't the only one that does harmonica. He also did the record crackle sound at the very beginning. Moonshine is fun. They accompanied Don McLean in his remake of his own American Pie (50th anniversary). Do You Hear What I Hear is a great Christmas song. They did John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads". They do Ed Sheeran's "Castle On The Hill". And strangely, Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". Church hymns like "How Great Thou Art" (no percussion). Modern style country with their original "Dive Bar Saints". A collaboration with Pentatonix's bass, Avi Kaplan, singing Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire". The patriotic "God Bless The USA" has a version featuring Lee Greenwood and the Air Force band. A couple military themed songs : Go Rest High On That Mountain and Travelin' Soldier. They've been doing this for a while, so there's a lot more.

The beatboxer, Adam Rupp...aka Freak of Nature, did not start beatboxing until college, when he and his Brother Chris Rupp started the group in 2000. The needed a beatboxer and Adam volunteered, he actually majored in trumpet in college which helped him with his breathing. There are many live videos out there of him doing a drum solo during the concerts, find a newer one I think there is one from Tifton GA in 2018

Discovering Home Free is like finding a treasure chest! The deeper you dive into it, the more wonderous treasures you find. They are 5 of the most insanely talented and skilled musicians in the musical arena. All of them are multi talented, hard working, fun loving, down to earth guys. No egos in the group. I am especially a fan of Adam, the beat boxer/vocal percussionist because his work is creative, electrifying and exciting. Each of the vocalists have unique voices that individually are beautiful, but when combined are magical. Each of them get a chance to shine from song to song. There is no one "lead", Depending on whose voice suits the song best is how they determine who sings what. Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole! Great reaction.

You are in for a ride! This rabbithole is endless! Home Free are the best! Adam Rupp - the beatboxer is called the freak of nature. For a reasson. He is a complete rythmsection. Tim Faust - a basso profundo. Deep, deep bass but can sing up to high tenor! 5+ octave range. Impressive. Adam Chanse - barritone/bass did the ovetone singing in the beginning and you saw him doing it at the very end of the video. Rob Lundqvist - tenor. The guy with the glasses and beard. He has a Good-given R&B/gospel voice. Austin Brown - the cowboy hat. High tenor with the voice of an angel. Welcome to the group of folowers called Home Fries. And the rabbithole is so, so deep.... 😊

New sub here, came for Home Free! Welcome to your Home Free journey! Us Home Fries( Home Free fans) are very proud of these 5 very talented guys! They are described as a country acapella group, but they do all genres of music. They also give lead vocals to different members on different songs because the all have great voices. Let me introduce them to you. The first guy who sings long hair and hat is their tenor Austin Brown. To hear another amazing lead vocal performance by him check out Home Free's cover of 'When a man loves a woman' or ' Love Train' Next guy who sings with beard and glasses is the other tenor of the group, Rob Lundquist, to hear him sing lead check out their cover of 'End of the Road' or their original 'Dreamer' The bass singer with the very low bass vocal is Tim Foust. He has a five octave vocal range. To hear him sing lead check out 'Land of the Free' or 'Undivided'. The guy who is standing in the back next to the guy making the beat, with the hat and beard is the group's baritone/bass Adam Chance. To hear him sing lead check out their cover of 'Cover me up' or 'Workin for a living'. And last but not least their vocal percussionist/ beatboxer who is in my opinion the best at what he does, the drum kit in his mouth and co founder of Home Free, Adam Rupp. He a a few drum solo videos on you tube you can check out. But you can hear his talent on every song. Individually these guys are great talents, but put them together and they are phenomenal! Talented, fan friendly, down to earth and great sense of humor. Us Home Fries love them. I hope you dive into these guys and react to more of their stuff. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!

Hey now you've done it! You discovered the Home Free rabbit hole...the best one ever! I only discovered them this year when I watched Austin Brown's version of Unchained Melody which then lead me to Home Free and I can't stop. You're absolutely right... they are different from PTX and voicePlay... they're a cut above regular acapella groups. This group started with Chris and Adam Rupp who founded the group in 2000 and it has evolved into this amazing harmonic group that can do anything that's thrown their way. Adam Chance (Chance since there are two Adams) joined them in 2016-17 and they have been on an upward swing since they won the Sing Off. They all contribute to instrument sounds for their songs...the Jaws Harp thru this one is Chance and the harmonica is actually sung by Adam and the higher toned one I believe was done by Austin. Austin has a three octave range and Tim Foust (bass) has 5+ octaves. For serious harmonies check out How Great Thou Art and End of the Road, or Go Rest High On That Mountain which will make you cry. Their concerts are phenomenal--have only seen videos from someone's phones, but they sound fantastic and their interaction with their audiences is superb. I spend most night going to sleep with my headphones so I am right there with you as to being covered with their warmth. I have a lot of favorites, but I think I'll put them in a separate note in the order of suggestions. Mayday is fantastic, but I recommend that you watch several of their other pieces in order to get the full impact of what they do with Mayday. For pure fun check out some of the Story Time with Tim, particularly Watch me Whip Nae Nae and the one titled Home Free Vocal Band Story Time with Tim about Potato's Natemare--fantabulous!!

Chris was the original baritone and wears a cowboy hat I’m a lot of the older videos. As others have mentioned he left in 2016 and was replaced by Adam Chance. They went on The Sing Off in 2013 and won. They had switched to Country right before that. Prior to that they did a lot of different stuff from jazz to pop to rock, but always acapella. This an old old American Folk Song predating Dick Burnett's publishing of it in 1913. He did not write/compose this. He only put it to paper as it had been learned by ear for ages prior to that. Because of that I'm sure there were variations we'll never know. I heard this as a child in the early 50s living along the Ohio River. You'd hear it sometimes at festivals and gatherings.

I am certain everything you articulated in this reaction is exactly what I felt the first time I heard HF, including that remark about Tim's (the bass) voice.

Thank you!! So many video reactions to them? I rarely if ever see people give Adam credit. I think everyone totally forgets about his part in this group. I don't think he gets enough credit
