You're spot on, Steve Harris describes a feverish nightmare he had.

This album was my introduction to Iron Maiden as a young teen in the early 80's. Now at 56 I'm still a fan and still banging my head to these albums, but it hurts more...lol🤣

Hey I only bought the album in 82' because of the cover I had no clue who they were before that, imagine how shocked I was when this song first came on. Went to my first Maiden concert about 6 months later and have been raising the Irons ever sense! \m/

@tomlafleche332 I did that once, It turned out to be Molly Hatchet's debut album. Not a heavy metal band at all...lol. but I loved the death dealer cover

No doubt young pup when this album came out I think it was 1982 I just turned 20 I heard this and I'm like oh hell yeah I thought it blew away the first album killers in 1980 God rest this man's soul Paul Dianno the first singer more of a punk rock type singer I always like to Bruce Dickinson better

@@warhammer_studios I also did that with Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny, I had heard 2 Priest songs before Living After Midnight and Breaking the Law on the radio but didn't know who Priest was until I bought that album. Man, I miss going into a record store and discovering new bands and music and those kiosk's where you could listen to 30 seconds of each song off of and album to decide if you want to buy it or not. I didn't do that with the Maiden or the Priest albums, I got them at family shopping night at Kmart where my mom worked. I was surprised when my mom first heard it her response was, I like the music, but the lyrics do nothing for me lol. And yes my mom was cool like that.

Fun Fact: The Zombie mascot "Eddie" was inspired by an infamous WWII photo of the horribly burned head of a Japanese soldier that was perched on the hull of a tank on the beaches of Saipan (I believe, it may have been another island).

I want you to know how much I enjoy watching your reactions. I'm 51 and it's awesome to see your reaction to music that is new to you but I've been listening to it for approximately 30 - 40 years. Keep up the good work.

Great reaction Stax. I first heard this song from my cousin in 1982... it really blew me away. I was 9 years old at the time. For me, The Number of the Beast and Powerslave are Iron Maiden's best studio albums.🤘🏼

I read it was supposed to be Vincent Price but he was asking more than they wanted to offer. So they found someone who sounds similar to Vincent Price, Barry Clayton.

Absolute legend, of course. Whole album is stellar. My friends and I used to drive around backroads in Ohio at night and blast this album as well as their others. You can't go wrong with any Maiden track but my favorites are Hallowed Be Thy Name, Aces High, Flight of Icarus, The Duellists, Flash of the Blade, Wrathchild, Running Free, The Trooper, Montsegur, No More Lies, Iron Maiden, Charlotte the Harlot, Killers, Murders in the Rue Morgue, Rime of the Ancient Mariner - just to name a few. Just a couple, lol.

Classic Maiden man.. been into maiden since 1984.. The Number of the Beast" is often considered one of the band's most iconic songs. It's the title track of their third studio album, released in 1982. The song's lyrics are inspired by a nightmare that bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris had after watching the film "Damien: Omen II." The lyrics describe a disturbing vision of Hell and include references to the Biblical Book of Revelation. This has led to the song being labeled as controversial, with some critics accusing the band of promoting Satanism. However, Iron Maiden has always maintained that the song and the album as a whole are purely fictional and meant to be enjoyed as dramatic storytelling. Maiden are DEFO NOT satanic or promote it in anyway or form infact the drummer nicko mcbrain is a christian. you should do Aces High it's a song about the Battle of Britain (1940). The lyrics are written from the viewpoint of a British RAF pilot fighting against the German Luftwaffe during the battle... killer song brother.

It's hard to overstate how much of a breakout album this was back in 1982, Maiden morphing from a metal band with punk style to a progressive hard rock band.
@talismanmia25373 күн бұрын
A song about a bad dream after watching The Omen II. There's not an ounce of devil worshipping in any Maiden song or band member.
