@@marcgarrett4401 Ya, the "Russian aggression" goes back a lot farther than February 2022. In February 2022, the lads were in Ukraine & Tati was in the US. Since the men were considered fighting age when the invasion happened, they were not allowed to leave the country, & helped out as well as they could. During the summer, the Ukrainian government granted them the status of "cultural ambassadors" so that they could go on a world tour.

Tatiana is a world-class growler she can easily compete with the guys. Harsh vocals are an acquired taste. Jinjer uses a lot of jazz mixed into their music. As others mentioned, it is her own voice with no effects. It is an advanced form of singing that requires a lot of skill and control. What’s really amazing is how easily she can transition between her normal voice and her growl. At times she will transition from one word to the next. Tatiana is also a Pisces, so the song has a special meaning for her. And, yes, it is about the duality of Pisces. You probably didn’t notice that her ear plugs had fish on them.
@funkycowie Жыл бұрын
Not strictly true, there are effects.
@leksbeet662 Жыл бұрын
"it is her own voice with no effects" - not exactly so, Tanya has nice and deep extreme vocal tone but this record has some minor effects applied to the voice and some double-tracking to harmonize the melodic line. Roman (guitar player) uses doble-tracking as well to decorate the guitar parts. It's like an alternative of having the second guitar-player in the band, as band nembers say. They tried to have two guitarist, but could't find the right one to fit the crew, so Roman plays alone and now they are satisfied with the music they make.

That is 100%Tatiana's terrifying (but awesome) "demon voice" (as I call it). It apparently took her a long time to perfect, but I think she somehow manipulates the false vocal folds in her throat to create the growl. The way she can flip from angelic voice to scary growl is impressive. I appreciate your honest opinion, that style of singing isn't for everyone.

You guys don't seem to realize the amount of vocal control to properly growl like that. If you don't know what you're doing, you can damage your vocal chords. Add on the fact that she self-taught herself and can do it flawlessly while transitioning between multiple vocal ranges is beyond talented.

You've discovered Jinjer! That IS most definitely Tati's voice, I've seen them Live and Jinjer are even better live than in studio versions. If you really want a good time, you need to take the FULL Jinjer Journey! After your "indoctrination" with Pisces (Tati and Eugene are both Pisces), you should react to "Perennial" (Live at Wacken 2019), "Who is Gonna Be the One" (Live Version 2014), "Teacher, Teacher," "Judgment & Punishment" (One Take Vocal Performance). The band is from Eastern Ukraine (Donbas Region) and the members are Tatiana "Tati" (Vocals/Songwriter), Vlad (Drums), Eugene (Bass), and Roman (Guitar). Welcome to the World of Jinjer!

My simple take regarding her "Satanic" voice: If you were a selfless fish (Pisces) who wanted to see the world but was a bit skittish, and then got into the nets and was hooked by handsome butchers who proceed to rip away your scales and entrails (emeralds)... you'd growl too! So you see, sometimes the lyrics call for extreme vocals in a song. Tatiana (who's not singing as someone possessed, so you can toss the garlic back into the spaghetti sauce) wrote an incredible story and sang about it the way it deserved to be sung... as with most of her songs. Some vocalist just keep singing in their nice and charming voice even when the lyrics call out desperation. Not so with Tati. Her extreme expression - a rare ability - adds so much more to a song... especially if you follow the music with the lyrics and how the beautiful cacophony tells the story. Thx, guys!

The best description of the technique is The Fairy Voice Mother's reaction to Pisces. The song is about Tatiana, the cleans being her hope, depression, and lonliness; the growls being her pain and anger. I suspect people with simple and un-turbulent emotional lives don't become metal singers. ;) Perennial live at wacken is the usual next step. A good one for demonstrating why to use growls is the official video to Home Back, about their experiences when their hometown in eastern Ukraine was caught in the 2014 war that set the stage for the present invasion. Subbed. Cheers!

This song really showcases the duality of Pisces with the lyrics and music styles. People who fall under this sign walk a fine line between reality and fantasy. The 2 fish in the sign swim in different directions ("One being brings life, another runs for death"). Nice reaction! This is all Tatiana. She is using a technique called False Fold growl. You do not create a pitch using your regular vocal fold but instead use the false folds which are tissues located above your vocal folds to create this sound and then use your articulators to shape it into growly speech. Respect that you might not enjoy this type of singing but I find it can be very impactful from a storytelling aspect when used appropriately. It also takes a lot of skill to be able to safely create this sound and even more to switch back and forth as Tatiana does here. Other bands with female singers who use this technique include Arch Enemy, Ad Infinitum, Spiritbox, and Seven Spires. This is a fun video you might enjoy with Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy singing Demons are a Girls Best Friend where this type of vocal is on point. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onW9aKNtjKZ6aNE. Also note that Floor Jansen of Nightwish can also do these types of growls but Nightwish rarely uses it. The one song is Your is an Empty Hope, which you would enjoy because it is the band throwing shade at internet trolls. Give a listen to the live at Wembley performance, it has the best audio mix in my opinion. Also I will throw out Floor singing Face Your Demons from her solo Amsterdam show. Song from her first band After Forever where she sings mostly clean but uses the demonic voice on just two words to great effect. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqTKYoaMhsSErLM

Jinjer is my favorite all time band since I found them like 6 years ago. Though a metal fan of old and I mean old school I never lived harsh vocals. That is something you hear all the time with Jinjer, they just open up so many to harsher vocals. Tatiana does not use them to assault your ears. She uses them to emphasize a deeper or angrier part of a song. As you are not a fan of harsh vocals (Yet?) I suggest the mv for Wallflowers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoq9o4Jtpsh_nrc Note Tati writes deep, meaningful and powerful lyrics. The band is very progressive and incredibly talented. Can we stop assuming fake before knowing the full story? It is not a "voice". She is not using her voice. It is a technique where you resonate your throat without using your vocal cords. This is how she switches from that technique to going back to her vocals so easily because it is a technique instead of just brute force.

I get that growling isn't your thing. You can get used to it, though. Personally I don't like songs that are only growling, but I like the switch ups between clean and harsh vocals. One of the best harsh vocalists us Will Ramos from Lorna Shore. Elizabeth from The Charismatic Voice took him to a voice lab where scientists put a camera down his throat to see what's going on. I think it's called 'operation throat camera '. The video is very long, but the actual part with the camera only some minutes. It's super interesting! You should check out one of Will Ramos one take vocal performances of a Lorna Shore song and then video with the throat camera. Greetings from Germany

The Voice is ALL Tati - she is the Master of the growl - even among some men she has more range than many of them.
