When I was having a minor face surgery- the Dr asked me if I d like to listen to music and if so - what kind ? I replied “ Pink Floyd “. Thus, I at least relaxed ( somewhat ) by listening to about 4 or 5 of their songs.

I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971 and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times. Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.

I fully agree!!! Start you floyd journey, live! It was the most amazing concert, I ever saw, with 2nd place being their '87 '88 tour (The Delicate Sound of Thunder). Then third... is a FAR distant 3rd, and a lot of great bands fight for that position... but no one was near floyd.

One of the best songs off my personal favorite album, The Wall is what’s called a concept album. It tells one continuous story about a person feeling so lost in the world that isolation is the only way they feel they can protect themselves from pain. This is the beginning of the second half of the story, the last moment he realizes the implications of what he has done in completing the metaphorical wall. It’s him crying out one last time for help… but “the wall was too high, as you can see.” It is too late, the downward spiral has begun. Listen to the whole thing some time, take it in. It’s amazing.

Wonderful reaction. I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd April 12, 1975 at the Cow Palace in South San Francisco and again 2 years later in 1977 in Oakland when critics say they were at the best at the Oakland Show. To me they were at their best in 75 and 77...

I don't know it anyone has ever brought this to your attention, but Pink Floyd's "The Wall" needs to be listened to in its entirety, and in the order of the track listing on the album. If someone else has already mentioned that, then just ignore everything I've already written. 😉 The Wall is a phenomenal album by a truly legendary band. They're one of the few bands, in my opinion, whose music never sounds dated. This album also has one of the greatest guitar solos ever. Sit back, relax, load a bowl, put on some headphones, and just listen to the album. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

Well like a lot of Pink Floyd albums, that song segues just naturally into the next song. The only way to truly appreciate it is to listen to the whole album. Kind of a heavy duty topic but they found a way to talk about it.

This is from the album "the wall" it is a concept album about a fictional rock star named pink who builds a metaphorical wall around himself due to incidents in his life in this song r he has completed the wall and is his last cry for help the whole double album should be listened from start to finish to understand the whole concept of the album

The individual tracks from The Wall each holds up on their own, but there is an overarching story line to the album, and the songs in that context are even more emotional. At some point you will really enjoy listening to The Wall from beginning to end in one setting. It will hit you like a brick. 😉

If you want hear some early Floyd try Obscured By Clouds. Don’t bother with the last track on side 2 (personal opinion). Cans on, volume up and sink into the gentle first track. Be prepared to be startled though! I doubt you are quite ready for Several Species of Small Furry Animals Sitting in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict, but if you want to experience it, Ummagumma is where you will find it.

Originally on the album this song followed Comfortably Numb and marks the desperate plea that segues to the decent into the nightmare of side four. Bob Ezrin felt the song should be moved to the beginning of side three. It doesn't really work there. It is easy to find, though, at the beginning of side three for a single play. But, that's lame.
